Sparkly skinnies - middle age tragic or ok for festive season?

I've ordered a pair of the m&s coated sparkly skinnies and can't decide if they're terrible or a handy article?!
Is it mums' night out vibe? Rod Stewart?!

To me they say, 'I like my nice safe comfy skinnies that I've been wearing for the last 20 years, but it's Christmas so I need to wear something a little bit 'jazzy''.

They're fine. No-one is going to point and laugh. But, if you want to know if they are currently considered fashionable - nah.

I think the fashion suppliers desperately want us to believe that styles change all the time, so that we have to keep buying their latest styles that they are recycling from the last time they sold them.

in fact most of us more mature birds fly free and wear what we like and respect each other for it.

So true. And by the time M&S start doing the trend, you know it’s well and truly over for the ultra stylish. But who cares? Do we not break free of slavishly following the latest trend, regardless of if it suits us, when we hit our 30s?

There is quite a gap between slavishly following the latest trend and being tragically out of date. I think most people who post would like to look at least reasonably current, or they would not be engaging with the S&B board. And there is nothing wrong with that - it is not morally superior to not care about trends, just personal choice. Skinnies that resemble jeggings are not current and a slightly straighter leg will refresh the look.

I love them for the festive period. I’m mid forties and have trousers like this. Wear and enjoy.

I’m not sure though anyone would agree with the phrase “tragically out of date” over worn boot cut jeans for the last 15 - 20
yeats I would guess- because the suit me. Skinny jeans don’t. I couldn’t give a rats ass whether something is in trend or not. Actually I did find the trend of random posers wearing iron Maiden(and to a lesser extent, other metal band)shirts annoying as you could no longer be sure the person wearing it was a fan of good music.

Hideous.

Bonnie Tyler might be able to carry that look off but I can't think of anyone else who could.
