What dress are you wearing for Christmas dinner?

I know there's are loads of threads on 'find me a dress for xyz' but I would love to hear what the ladies of S&B will be wearing for their Christmas dinner.

We walk to ours so for the last few years I've favoured trousers and a top and boots and wrap wool coat but I fancy a midi with long sleeves this year, and silk base layers because the hall is bloomin freezing . Just starting to look but id love to know what you've gone for.

Full styling details if you're willing; shoes, tights, jewellery, hairstyle?

I’m loving all these beautiful outfits. I’ve been coveting a tulle midi skirt but alas, at 60, I think I’m too old to pull it off.

I 💯 % think you should get one. Maybe with a wrap cardigan? It would be very elegant in a ballet teacher sort of way.

These are so beautiful, but I fear I’d look like Nanny Ogg in one.

Have you seen any nice wrap cardigans? I’ve been hankering after one, but can’t find many.

Inastatus · 10/11/2024 10:58

@MemphisBluesAgain - aww, thank you. I might order one just to satisfy my curiosity.

minipie · 10/11/2024 10:58

I like this one.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/11/2024 11:33

I love that dress @ThisMustBeMyDream and you look fabulous in it. I've seen it in store in the black and thought it looked good value, but the green is even nicer.

How do you find the fit of those jeggings @boygirlcatdog ? Particularly in terms of how stretchy they are and the size of the waist compared to hips/legs.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/11/2024 11:43

MemphisBluesAgain · 10/11/2024 11:23

I love that and have looked at it before, but somebody told me that the quality is poor for the price. It is gorgeous though.

Unless you’re in downton abbey, sitting at your dining table in taffeta and slippers is just weird

People aren't necessarily doing that though. Some folk are wearing PJs, others a Christmas jumper and leggings. And many of the posters wearing velvet dresses will be going to out to a restaurant to eat, or at least travelling to someone else's house.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/11/2024 12:08

PJs 😁

🤣🤣
sad because I don’t wear anything different that I do any other day?
🤣
definitely not sad!

We have a roast, and yes, I’ve usually got a house full of people 🤣
I always get everyone a “ tree “ present, which is something small that goes on our tree and always saved for after dinner

Sad because you consider Christmas to be like every other Sunday.

to have no sense of occasion or not understand why anyone else might is sad yes.

A red bikini paired with a Santa hat.

Probably flip flops on my feet.

Are you in Australia by any chance or just incredibly hardy?

MemphisBluesAgain · 10/11/2024 14:16

@DancingNotDrowning I kind of agree - it's a celebration, why not look a bit festive? I get that nobody wants to be uncomfortable, and I wouldn't wear a pencil skirt and suit jacket for Christmas lunch, but a stretchy dress is as comfortable as pyjamas if it's the right size and it's not really any more effort to put on.

Considering this one! Christmas day definitely an excuse to wear something sparkly

This is pretty, pity it’s sold out in a lot of sizes in the green.

Ahh, trying to bring other women down for your own gratification. That’s cute.

I’m not incredibly hardy.

Mamabearsmile · 10/11/2024 15:50

Rugby kit. Hot work doing Xmas grub. Can play with grandkids at the park afterwards. Will dress up Christmas eve in pvc, leather and velvet.

Mamabearsmile · 10/11/2024 15:50

Lol...

Tangobag · 10/11/2024 15:59

This is honestly one of the most unpleasant comments I’ve seen on here. Well done?

I tried that cardigan on last week. It was really itchy and not great quality.

Unless you’re religious and I’m not, then yes it’s just like any other day of the week with a roast dinner thrown in!
I can’t believe people put on best clothes and then cook dinner wearing it!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/11/2024 16:43

I’m an atheist but I definitely don’t see it as just like any other day.
