Just getting a thread ready.

Yes @Stravaig - I think they got wise 😹 and they’ve put restrictions to avoid people just spending £20.

The code also works on the recycled cashmere scarf, which I think is £29.

AFingerofFudge · 22/11/2024 13:39

I have kind of dropped off the thread but am still lurking!
I have tried not to buy much Toast this year. Partly thinking I may lose the menopause weight (no chance) and partly because I kind of got swept up in sales talk last year and ordered far too much, most of which has not been worn.
I'm going to put some things on the Facebook toast selling page this weekend and try to not get caught up in sales frenzy this year!

Having said all that- today I am wearing the beautiful green thick cord skirt from last year- that has been a success. There are yellow and stone coloured version this year. I have so many compliments on this skirt and it looks great on!

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 14:19

Ah, I tried that skirt @AFingerofFudge - it’s lovely but was too long on me, unfortunately.

AFingerofFudge · 22/11/2024 14:23

@IlovePond it is too long for me really, am 5ft3, but I just let it waft around my ankles Smile

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 14:25

Oh it is lovely - I probably should have given it a go @AFingerofFudge - I tried mine at a KC sample sale, so relatively bargainous. I bought too much other stuff though 🙀

Stoic123 · 22/11/2024 18:41

@IlovePond - fab thanks! I bought the sheepskin soles last year.

I quite fancy a pair of the fingerless gloves which code seems to work on.

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 19:10

Those gloves are nice @Stoic123

No1Mousie · 23/11/2024 09:02

Late to the party, but marking my place. Thank s @Countmeout

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 08:01

Hi,

Someone on another thread has found an even better code for Celtic & Co: NXMAS24 gives £25 off non sale items.

It brings the aforementioned Welsh socks down to £7.95 inc. delivery.

Oh no, had my eye on this for ages, now ordered: www.celticandco.com/womens/clothing/cardigans/alpaca-silk-blend-funnel-neck-cardigan
And decided to try this, my excuse was free delivery:
www.celticandco.com/womens/clothing/jumpers/fairisle-funnel-neck-jumper?colour=839
I'm a bit of a Celtic and Co fan, if I had the budget and wardrobe space there are quite a few more of their jumpers I could fill it with.

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 10:12

They are lovely @Netcam - I have ordered the socks, (even though I have two overflowing sock drawers and only one pair of feet🙀).

In other news: Our fences have blown down in the storm🙀

You were very restrained! I'm not sure where I'm going to put 2 more jumpers. I just loved the idea of a silk, alpaca and wool cardigan and I like the raspberry colour. And the blue/turquoise one matches my walking boots and goretex jacket and is a bit of a bargain, well that's my excuse!

Sorry to hear about your fences. I'm amazing ours are still standing, we have one that is a bit broken in one place and I often wonder how much longer it will survive.

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 13:56

Sadly our fences were put up by cowboys @Netcam - we have a knack of choosing poorly. We may have to have a go ourselves 🙀

I am suffering jumper envy. I don’t think my Lidl elf jumper dress that somehow has found its way into my house can compete 😹

faustina · 24/11/2024 15:42

Sympathy to the fenceless - mine are ok so far but it's extremely windy, though oddly 17 degrees which makes a nice change, though it feels odd!

@IlovePond you can't possibly mention an elf jumper dress and not expect people to ask for a photo!

The Bleu de Chauffe bag arrived and it is so beautiful I*'m very tempted to keep it, though it's so small I can fit only very bare essentials in it - eg, no charging plug for my phone, and either sunglasses or gloves but not both together - so it will be perfect on days when either the sun is shining OR it's cold (not simultaneously though) and when I'm only out for a short period of time. I realise this is a first world problem 😃Annoying though!

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 16:01

😹@faustina It is, quite frankly, probably the most ridiculous garment I have ever bought, (and I do have form come Xmas time for this sort of thing), plus it’s too big as I bought the wrong size 🙈

However, if I feel brave enough to try it on again, I shall post a pic!

That BdC bag is beautiful- I quite fancy one myself.

ScottishMouse · 24/11/2024 17:11

That’s annoying about the bag @faustina. I bought but returned the gorgeous Kate Sheridan Voyage one that Toast had for similar reasons. I was tempted by it again when it was on the KS November discount but reminded myself how annoying it is to not be able to fit everything I need.
I bought the ubiquitous Uniqlo rounded cross-body bag that everyone has in the summer for a trip I was taking, as people said it fit a lot in and I thought it would allow me to have hands free instead of my usual tote option. It was supposed to just be for that trip as it’s a bit meh, but I have not gone a day without it since I bought it. This is very unlike me, I usually like a nice wee leather bag or classic tote, but this bag is a revelation.

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 17:43

@ScottishMouse - I know what you mean about that Uniqlo bag! I couldn’t get on with the cord versions as I prefer the strap to go a little lower, but the Marimekko summer collaboration version was perfect.

It’s late November, I have loads of lovely leather bags, why on earth am I reaching for a floral cotton one every day?

Answer: I can fit EVERYTHING in it and it’s still so light I forget it’s there😹

ScottishMouse · 24/11/2024 18:01

Yup @ilovepond, it’s magic! Plus, I don’t need to worry that it will get wet and ruined in the rain like leather.

mizu · 24/11/2024 18:26

Oh so true re bags. At this time of year I usually have my Kate Sheridan burgundy tab bag out but I haven't made the switch yet and am still alternating between my red Uniqlo and a very similar but slightly larger black COS one.

They are so very useful.

Netcam · 24/11/2024 18:41

IlovePond · 21/11/2024 12:01

Interesting @Snowyowl78 - I’ve been to Tokyo a few times. I can see Toast’s long tunics and trousers maybe getting a market, but it’s difficult to imagine many Japanese women going for Toast clothes, especially the very long dresses and skirts.

For example, I’m 5’4” and each time I’ve been to Japan I have felt like a giant amongst women, (as well as hugely fat 😿). Toast skirts and dresses unaltered would swamp most Japanese women. Also, apart from designer clothes, I have found Japan much cheaper to buy from than the UK, so I don’t know how much customers would be willing to pay.

Having said that, I suppose they have done their research and know what they’re doing.

I agree it’s weird they are not expanding into Europe - I suspect Brexit may have made it easier to open up in Japan than Ireland or France, for example.

Edited

I'm 5'3 and lived in Japan for a couple of years and also felt like a giant and it was impossible to buy a bra that fitted me.

IlovePond · 24/11/2024 19:39

You are so lucky to have been able to live in Japan @Netcam - it’s my favourite country out of all I have visited.

But yes, 5’4” and in a queue at TokyoDisney I realised I could comfortably see over the heads of almost everyone else in the queue - and it was a long one! After spending all my adult life surrounded by mostly bigger people, it was a strange feeling.

I did spend a lot of time feeling like a huge, clumsy heffelump and wishing my diet had borne fruit beforehand🙀 but I wish I could go back!

Were you there on holiday? Where did you go? It is an amazing place, isn't it. I was an English teacher there in the late 90s, before kids.

faustina · 24/11/2024 20:19

@ScottishMouse - I do really want to try to keep this one, though in theory I'd have preferred to see the other colour. Apparently it's still in stock in some stores - I would love to see a pic if anyone has it!

I do this to myself every year or so - try to be the kind of person who saunters out for the day with only a small but perfect leather bag. I've been using my Kate Sheridan waxed cotton bags mostly. My other Bleu de Chauffe bag is suede which is useless in the rain. I'm resisting the Uniqlo bags but I will be visiting a Uniqlo store tomorrow so perhaps I'll have a look at them (the waterproof ones!)

Countmeout · 24/11/2024 21:03

What is the other colour called @faustina ?
