I received the Herringbone jumpsuit today, really unflattering, difficult to get in to and nearly impossible to get out of ...................but, oh so comfy:

I'm keeping the Kantha pinafore and the bilberry poncho.
It's warm.and feels like a hug when you button up the dress. I'm going to restitch the embroidery where it's missing and dye the whole thing when it gets sad.
I look like Mrs Pepperpot

I like the jumpsuit on you @Theteapotsbrokenspout , but difficulties getting in and out are off-putting in a jumpsuit.

My order from the 23rd has dispatched this afternoon. No post in Scotland on the 2nd, so it will be Friday or Saturday before it arrives, and well into next week before I see the subsequent orders.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/12/2024 16:56

@ScottishMouse It actually looks better in the photo than in real life, normally it's the other way round.
It has a button on the nape of the neck which undoes, but the side buttons, although they undo, don't actually help as it's stitched across at the waistline. I did try it on over my thermal top so it was clinging to that a bit, but it's still incredibly difficult to get off because of the cross over.
I do really like it though, bit of a dilemma 🤔.
Really disappointing that your orders are taking so long.

I think this is my oldest Toast item a Promenade coat from round about 2005.
I had three of these! This one's from the Llangollen sale shop, the other two would have been sale bargains. I still have the green mossy tweed. The robust waxed chestnut colour one was battered to death by dog walking.
My daughters wear them now, which is rather sweet.

I love the Promenade coats, I bought mine from Shepton Mallett, one in cream fully lined and the other half lined in grey. Both are utterly beautiful and I still wear them.

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 16:58

I feel like Toast jumpsuits are often tricky to get on and off @Theteapotsbrokenspout unless one is waif-like. I just love the look of a jumpsuit, but have never found one that works on me as my top and bottom half are too different in size.

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 17:00

All this sitting around in a cold house is making me ogle this https://www.toa.st/products/quilted-cotton-long-gown-soft-caramel
It would need to be half that price for me to order though. Has anyone seen it or the short version in real life, I think I have missed them in store.

@Netcam I’ve picked up Didrikson from Next at random times during the year. I got the Leya parka and Gabbi jacket for half price earlier this year. Also had a lot of Jigsaw, Hobbs and Whistles bargains.

Love the cord trousers. I might try those when Brora sale goes live. I keep trying knitted tanks, but not found one that suits me yet. The best was the Toast spaced dyed, but maybe too expensive for amount of times I would wear.

looking forward to hearing your view on the cord dress when it arrives.

@ScottishMouse some of my family live in the West of Ireland. When I was last there in 2018 Next was still really popular.

Stravaig · 30/12/2024 17:23

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I was not anticipating your punchline! I'm another who thinks it looks great on you, but difficulty getting in and out is a nuisance.

I'm long-bodied and short-legged, so jumpsuits elude me, except a beloved purple tie-dye pair in my early twenties which just magically fit. Did a lot of coding in those @Netcam :D

@TosstTastic I fancy the idea of red stitching on the dark background - do you think it would show at all, or just ruin the effect?

Interesting about Next, I don't look on there much. But no buy 2025 is coming up!

I know what you mean about knitted tanks, they really have to be the right fit. I have a couple from someone on Etsy who knits them and one from a Me and Em sale that fit well.

I recommend trying the trousers. I'm 5'3 and they're full length on me. I got the linen version in the summer sale this year and pretty much lived in them this summer: www.broraonline.com/uk/cross-dye-linen-cargo-trousers-spruce-dt2457km2494. So when I saw a cord version come out, I was hoping I'd get some in the sale.

But I'm most pleased about the green cardigan. I've been looking for a reasonably thick, shortish, earthy green, boxy cardigan for ages. Most short cardigans seem to be too fitted and neat looking or really wide at the waist, or emerald green or pastel colours. This one is just right and I also used a John Lewis £10 reward on top of the discount. It was still £139, but that's Brora. There's no way I would have paid full price.

I'll let you know about the Brora dress. They still had some 8s in stock last time I looked, was wondering whether to order one, since the 10 still hasn't been dispatched.

IlovePond · 30/12/2024 17:58

@ScottishMouse - I have seen that caramel short jacket irl. It is VERY caramel - quite orangey in tone and a bit bulky. I think the picture is quite true to colour but maybe it’s a teeny bit darker irl?

It reminds me of a coat I had in similar material when I was at sixth form/uni, (until I accidentally set it alight by standing too close to a real fire on a cold winter’s day in a tutor’s room at uni🙀).

Tomorrow is my last day of Xmas jumpers - I have kept it up every day since 1/12 just because, well, why the heck not? (I have rather a lot and didn’t even get through them all!)

I can honestly say that no one in my rl has actually noticed, so my Xmassy efforts have been largely wasted😹. I am looking forward to wearing my Toast jacquard on NYD as even I am Christmas jumpered out now!

TosstTastic · 30/12/2024 17:59

I was thinking red, or maybe orange. It will show. There's some thin cord here somewhere. The cotton is a matt, slightly off black.
I think I'm even going to risk a cold wash. Feeling brave!

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 18:00

Wow @IlovePond that is some very impressive Christmas jumpering, a whole month!

Do we need a new thread folks? I have no idea how to do it, maybe someone in the know can oblige.

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 18:02

On new thread note, I was searching my email for something unrelated yesterday and came across Toastie mumsnet notifications from way back in 2021, and I don’t think I was even around at the beginning of all this. Amazing!

faustina · 30/12/2024 18:09

@ScottishMouse I've seen a very very similar version of that long robe somewhere ( it was much cheaper too). There was a mn thread about it called I want a housecoat or something similar

faustina · 30/12/2024 18:10

Just found it! Piglet in bed quilted housecoat. Maybe worth seeing if it's in their sale

IlovePond · 30/12/2024 18:13

Yes, they sell a lot of Kantha jackets, etc. direct from India on Etsy - I have been tempted a few times!

If people are ok with me doing it, I will set up a new thread.

IlovePond · 30/12/2024 18:18

Apologies for the lack of a zippy title😹

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 18:18

Thanks @faustina, I’ll take a look. I particularly like the colour of the Toast one. With any luck, I will be well enough to not need a housecoat all day every day before it would arrive anyway.

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 18:18

Thanks @IlovePond
