@ScottishMouse I ordered a bandana on 24th and it has been dispatched this afternoon.

@MsDastardley Nishiguchi Kutsushita socks are amazing. I have three pairs. They are my absolute favourites. Not cheap, but I will be darning them if holes appear in years to come.

They’re fabulous. I 💯 blame this group for converting me to posh socks

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2024 16:08

@WaveringAverter That really suits you, but I think I will be too short for it to look right layered like you have it. I may still check it out just in case.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2024 16:11

I ordered the Herringbone jumpsuit on the 23rd @ScottishMouse , it’s arriving tomorrow, although I didn’t get the dispatch email for it until yesterday.

ScottishMouse · 29/12/2024 16:25

Hmmm, my orders all still say unfulfilled on my account, so I’m assuming they haven’t been sent yet @Theteapotsbrokenspout. The herringbone jumpsuit looks lovely, hope it’s a winner.

Countmeout · 29/12/2024 16:43

@Theteapotsbrokenspout . I feel most comfortable in it with summer trousers. I’m 5’4” too.

@MsDastardley me too. I tend to lurk rather than comment much but have definitely seen my Toast love increase after reading all the reviews!

These socks are also great. I know a few people who have worked with John Arbon at the main mill in Devon. A good solid company and very long wearing comfy socks.

It should be easy to get shortened a bit, I think it's a simple French seam at the bottom.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/12/2024 18:03

Oh that does look good @Countmeout

Bimblesalong · 29/12/2024 18:47

Thanks for the link @Primrosespaw I use John Arbon spun wool and it’s a wonderful yarn. (Mine is the British Breeds Wool that Marie Wallin uses for her fairisle designs).

mizu · 29/12/2024 20:56

Socks 🧦 joy on here!

I finally found the dress on Vinted this morning quite by chance waiting for a DD to do her hair before heading out! £50.

Nothing in the sale I really want. Can't believe the lack of Xmas decorations in there.

@Primrosespaw those socks look wonderful , I've just bought more Nordic ones but will definitely try those when I need more.

The green Selma was back in stock so I snapped that up , size smaller than my last one so it may be too tight 🤞.

For those who love the Toast knitwear I recommend stopping off at teebay services top of M6 if you happen to be passing . I was there yesterday they had wonderful knit wear - Eribe and another brand - can't remember the name but very Toast like and cheaper . Couldn't see a change room and Dh was fractious to continue driving so I reluctantly didn't get anything .

TosstTastic · 29/12/2024 21:05

Good find on that dress, I dithered over it when it came out.

Has anyone had any orders from dec 23rd or 24th despatched yet? I’m waiting for two (oh and the two more I made last night 🤦‍♀️, but that will be a while longer I assume).

Mine is coming tomorrow (but I won't be here). I think I ordered on Christmas Eve.

Netcam · 29/12/2024 23:01

@ScottishMouse, the Panelled Organic Indigo Denim Trousers I ordered on 23rd were dispatched on 27th.

ScottishMouse · 29/12/2024 23:06

Seems like my orders are running behind for some reason. I would usually be worried that meant they couldn’t fulfil them, but both those orders were kind of made due to boredom and feeling sorry for myself in hospital, I actually wouldn’t be that bothered if they couldn’t fulfil them. That’s terrible, isn’t it?
The ones I made last night I am more keen to receive though.

ScottishMouse · 29/12/2024 23:11

I definitely don’t have the willpower (or plentiful enough wardrobe) to do a no buy 2025, but I am thinking I might make a strict rule or two around buying this coming year.

Sitting around not able to do much this week has shown me just how much time I can spend endlessly scrolling instagram, the Toast sale, other sales, this thread, and all that does is tempt me and make me think there is just one more thing I should try (sometimes even things I tried earlier in the season and rejected, but now I don’t remember why!). I need less time on my hands!!

AmethystMoonShine · 30/12/2024 07:23

I have that dress @mizu, in fact I wore it yesterday and it’s one of my favourites. I do need to pin the front though as otherwise I’d be sharing too much of myself 😳

hicat · 30/12/2024 08:37

@ScottishMouse my 22nd dec order is due to be posted today. I felt the same ambivalence about my order being fulfilled. Well, all except for my bizarre obsession with the kettle waxed hat

mizu · 30/12/2024 09:17

@AmethystMoonShine can I ask how you wear it in the winter? Hoping to be able to wear all seasons but was thinking autumn / spring especially.

And I remember someone else saying they had to pin the front!

In winter I wear it with a thin long sleeve top underneath, which actually could render the pin unnecessary I guess. I prefer it not to gape though.
I wear it on its own when warmer and it’s very comfortable. It’s a beautiful indigo colour and very flattering on my pear shape. I’m a pear with boobs and so it works particularly well. It’s be good on an hourglass too for this reason. Room for hips, bum and boobs!

ScottishMouse · 30/12/2024 09:45

@hicat it feels all wrong to be ordering things and then not even caring much if they didn’t arrive. I am already planning my returns without having even tried on some of the things in my orders! I think the fact that sale items disappear so fast means I just click click buy so something doesn’t sell out, whereas if it was not in a sale I would think about it for a while and come to the realisation I didn’t want/need it or it wouldn’t work for me for whatever reason. So before the order has even been sent, I make this realisation and am then just waiting for something to arrive in order to send it back. It doesn’t feel like I shop in this way anywhere else.
I have tried in the past to make a list of what I am looking for before the sale starts to avoid this kind of buying, but then the sale comes along and the things I want are not there but there are other things I have not noticed before/suddenly think might work/missed in a previous sale.
i am pretty good now at being discerning and only keeping really good sale buys, so I am not worried about that, but I am finding the whole thing a bit stressful and uncomfortable.

TosstTastic · 30/12/2024 10:06

@hicat I bought a waxed leather hat thing from Cos a few years ago. I don't wear it very often, it has the hint of a child's yellow raincoat but I remember the blub, and it makes me smile whenever I glimpse it. 'Fashion forward'.

Enjoy your craving.

I don’t think you should be feeling so bad. It’s fun to find a good quality item you might not have otherwise considered in the sale and nothing to feel guilty about. I think the problem is that the sale is online. If you went into a sale in a shop you’d try loads of things on and decide what to keep, if anything there. As it is it can feel like you’re making a commitment and suffer buyer’s remorse before you’ve even tried it on. You don’t have to keep anything, although I know returning things is a pain, and waiting for a refund can be stressful.
I’m not sure I’ve explained myself well here, but wanted to say don’t feel bad, enjoy the sale, and I know what you mean!

Netcam · 30/12/2024 10:16

@ScottishMouse, I am a bit like you with sales, although I do it with several online shops I like which sell expensive clothes in natural materials.

I always feel bad when I order loads from several shops and end up returning most of it. But it's the only way of trying things on when shopping online.

Anyway, the Toast trousers and some Brora items I ordered from John Lewis are arriving today, along with a JL black cashmere cardigan.

The Brora cord dress from JL has not been dispatched yet.
