@IlovePond - love your retro tree!

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 21:44

I agree @Stravaig - great idea!

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 21:45

Thanks @Stoic123 - it’s not exactly minimalist but I like it!

Snowyowl78 · 02/12/2024 08:47

I noticed that in 2023, Black Friday was early on 24th Nov and then Toast had a sale on Monday 27th Nov. SO if Black Friday 2024 was Friday 29th Nov….

Snowyowl78 · 02/12/2024 08:57

Ps. It was an archive sale and only for 1 week

Countmeout · 02/12/2024 09:00

I do love an archive sale. There’s always something I regret not having bought before.

🤞@Snowyowl78 and @Stravaig !

faustina · 02/12/2024 11:45

I'm feeling a bit outshopped after the last few days - not sure I feel quite so excited about the prospect of another sale now. Hopefully that will change, especially if it's an interesting archive one with lots of little Christmas present type home things.

I love your fabulous christmas tree @IlovePond - I also chuck it all on, though the really vintage glass balls have long since died a sad death.

I think I saw an email about Toast doing weekend festive markets throughout December? Somewhere in London. Maybe they're focusing on those instead?

It’s Coal Drop Yard in London
i went last year
i think everything was full price, it was just an open air market stall

IlovePond · 02/12/2024 12:46

Thanks @faustina -those vintage glass ones are so delicate!

Countmeout · 02/12/2024 14:06

Yes @Stravaig I was at it too. Just accessories and some pottery from memory at Coal Drops Yard. There were some other non Toast stalls with lovely silver jewellery too. There’s a good Cos store on site.

I also went to the Coal Drops Yard Toast Christmas Market...if I am honest I was a little underwhelmed. Emma Aitchison was there with her beautiful jewellery but she's not there this year as she is about to start maternity leave.
It seemed more focused on very Toast- like display and presentation rather than really making any attempt to sell anything. They were late setting up too. I think worth popping by if you're int he area but I wouldn't make a special visit.
Yes, there is a fabulous COS where I bought a lovely coat, also Margaret Howell is on Coal Drops yard - now that is worth a visit :)

faustina · 02/12/2024 14:45

They have some brilliant food stalls there too - all the way from King's Cross to Coal Drops Yard

MiracleToast · 02/12/2024 15:19

Tiny slither of hope waning….

IlovePond · 02/12/2024 15:30

Yep, here too @MiracleToast

I wonder if mini November sale indicates that sales are going so well that Toast don’t need to reduce so close to Xmas.

AmethystMoonShine · 02/12/2024 15:42

Agree with @faustina there are fab food places in that area!

IlovePond · 02/12/2024 15:43

That should have read NO mini sale 🙈

Countmeout · 02/12/2024 15:58

It’ll be 5 o’clock. I have to go out shortly 😬

i’ve just shrank a load of stuff in the washing machine including this lovely Toast half sleeve sweater!!!! If anyone has one burning a hole in their wardrobe I will gladly buy it from you. Nightmare!

Toasties - the countdown to Christmas
IlovePond · 03/12/2024 18:29

Oh no @Snowyowl78 - I hope you can find a replacement🤞

applecatchers36 · 03/12/2024 19:27

Snowyowl78 my husband did the same thing to this top! I gave it to my daughter who is very petite...

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 19:43

I’ve just remembered @Snowyowl78 that one of the recommended ways of stretching a shrunken wool jumper is to use fabric softener.

I’ve not tried it myself, (and of course it depends on how much it’s shrunk - you may remember that I said my DSis shrank a jumper a while ago and it would now barely fit a chihuahua 🙀)

Here’s the instructions:

Dissolve one tablespoon of hair conditioner or fabric softener to a bucket filled with lukewarm water and add the shrunken wool garment. Let it soak for about thirty minutes; afterwards, rinse the jumper of the conditioner and gently stretch the shirt back to its original size. Let it hang dry.

Snowyowl78 · 03/12/2024 19:51

Thank you @IlovePond, I fear it cannot be saved though. It’s very small and felty.
@applecatchers36 i can’t believe it shrank so much, I thought I had washed it before! I must have hand washed it.

faustina · 03/12/2024 19:58

@Snowyowl78 - oh what a calamity! I hope you find another one somehow - or maybe it will pop back up in a sale? (if they ever bother to do one - grrr!)

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 20:02

Sounds just like my DSis’ jumper - she ended up giving it to the cats to lie on, (or fight over, as there’s only room for one at a time and that’s when curled up🙀)
