My cat would probably look very nice in it, or on it. I asked the lovely Kurt on the chat and they don’t have any! I still have the Ochre one.

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 20:18

😹@Snowyowl78 - you could give Kilver Court a ring - you never know what they might have lurking on a shelf or in a cupboard over there!

Netcam · 03/12/2024 20:47

Snowyowl78 · 03/12/2024 19:51

Thank you @IlovePond, I fear it cannot be saved though. It’s very small and felty.
@applecatchers36 i can’t believe it shrank so much, I thought I had washed it before! I must have hand washed it.

Did you wash it on a regular wash or a hand wash setting?

Snowyowl78 · 03/12/2024 20:56

@Netcam was a gentle wash, 30 degrees

Snowyowl78 · 03/12/2024 20:57

I will give them a try @IlovePond

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 21:18

I have just found out that Japan Hose online shop sells the Japanese socks sold by Toast:

Lots of other lovely things, including more socks and slippers:

What a shame, so sorry.

I do risk some of my hand wash wool in the washing machine, but wash it on the wool hand wash setting with no spin and then wrap in a towel. I think the hand wash setting rinses with warm water (it's a Miele, not sure they all do this).

But I do hand wash some things, depends how delicate it looks. I know Celtic and Co say always hand wash so I am very careful with my jumpers from there.

But I did wash my hand wash silk dress I got from LK Bennett for my wedding a couple of years ago on the hand wash wool setting and it was fine. I do
hand washable silk shirts like that too and have never had issues. It's always a risk but life's too short for hand washing everything.

I would only wash machine washable merino on a delicates or synthetics cycle at 30. And some merino that needs to be washed more gently (mainly Dilling base layers) I do on the hand wash wool setting at 30 with spin.

My laundry is complicated. DH and I have our own laundry baskets and each do our own washing.

But interested to know what other people do. Sometimes I end up with a pile of jumpers in the laundry basket in the winter waiting for me to get round to hand washing them!

IlovePond · 03/12/2024 22:29

So glad it’s not just me with a pile of handwashing @netcam!

Speaking of handwashing, how do people wash the cotton nighties and pjs? I normally hand wash, but it not exactly drying weather!

NoCureForLove · 04/12/2024 08:16

@IIlovePond I bung all mine in the machine at 30° on a short cycle. And tumble dry them - and they're absolutely fine! Life is way too short to hand-wash pj's...

I don't have a tumble drier, but all of my cotton/linen clothes including PJs go in the washing machine at 30 and are hung up to dry. I only hand wash things that really need it and never buy anything that needs dry cleaning.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 04/12/2024 08:24

@IlovePond I've got the double faced cotton nighties and pj's and like @NoCureForLove I always machine wash, although I don’t have a tumble drier and usually manage to line dry.

OftenOrange · 04/12/2024 08:56

I machine wash my Toast nightdresses in a mesh bag , 30 degrees.
They’re the strappy ones with a bit of elasticated ruching on the front and I get the sense that the ruching will slacken over time or with heat, judging from the look of those I’ve seen on EBay.
Wish they would do that style again !
I use a similar method for quite a few jumpers , but anything expensive or that I love gets hand washed and spun in mesh bags after.
And I hand wash my Toast socks 😂

faustina · 04/12/2024 10:40

I use the wool wash on my washing machine for all jumpers including cashmere, and I try not to wash them very often, then I dry flat on a rack thing. Everything else goes in the machine and when line drying isn't possible I tumble dry, except for bras, gym leggings and socks, which go on radiators or the backs of wooden chairs. I try very hard not to buy dry clean only unless it's a nice wool coat etc

I hate it when I see a no tumble dry label on a cotton tshirt for example - because where on earth would you hang all that in the winter? So I tumble dry them too and nothing bad has ever happened

I use a heated airer
I do have a new heat pump tumble dryer which is not only super cheap to run but also much gentler on clothes
Edited
Ps the daily Toast emails are getting really annoying

faustina · 04/12/2024 12:13

@Poplinskirt - the daily emails: they're just trying to mess with our heads - very annoying!

I have a heat pump tumble dryer too and while I'm sure it's cheaper to run etc, it's ridiculously fussy. The thing it hates most is my Toast bedlinen - You'd think cotton sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases would be the easiest things to dry, but no - they almost always come out half damp, which is very frustrating!

IlovePond · 04/12/2024 12:15

They are aren’t they, @Poplinskirt - no sale but loads of mail!

Thanks so much for all your washing tips @Poplinskirt @faustina @Netcam @OftenOrange @Theteapotsbrokenspout and @NoCureForLove - I might test wash one nightie in a mesh bag and see how I get on. My Toast nightwear collection is my absolute favourite of all my clothes - I would be very upset indeed if I ruined them with no hope of replacement 🙀

I can’t carry on with a huge bag of handwashing hidden in a corner…

I just put my Toast nightwear in with my usual washing, zero issues
My hand smocked night gowns new addiction go on a delicates wash

Poplinskirt · 04/12/2024 12:51

@IlovePond @faustina

It's had the opposite effect that they desire as I'm resolutely NOT buying now until the sale out of irritation !

faustina · 04/12/2024 13:11

@Poplinskirt -me neither, but I'm going to suspend my irritation for a minute to admire my beautiful bag which just arrived - it's so much nicer in this colour - I'm really pleased I sent the black one back and waited!

Toasties - the countdown to Christmas
IlovePond · 04/12/2024 13:48

That is a beautiful bag @faustina

@Poplinskirt - I feel exactly the same way - sending daily emails is ridiculous!

Snowyowl78 · 04/12/2024 14:35

@faustina do you mean the sheets are unevenly damp? If you haven’t already, try chucking a tennis ball in with them, which is meant to separate the sheets as it spins. There are also dedicated dryer balls you can buy.

Stravaig · 04/12/2024 14:38

@faustina 😍 Gorgeous!!

Snowyowl78 · 04/12/2024 14:45

New stuff alert!

faustina · 04/12/2024 15:03

@Snowyowl78 - yes, very unevenly dry. Doesn't a tennis ball damage the drum? No? I think I have some dryer balls somewhere so maybe I'l try them first?

Thanks all for the bag admiration. It's definitely a return as someone had messed with the handle and put it on the shortest length. I nearly ripped my fingers off trying to put it right - it's VERY stiff!

Off to check out the new things!

Snowyowl78 · 04/12/2024 15:10

@faustina i don’t think so, I have used them. It does make some noise knocking around though.

I have seen 2 new cord dresses, 2 cord shirts, a very nice indigo shirt that I want. 2 nice half sleeve cashmere sweaters - I want both. Not much else but maybe they’re still loading.
