@PeonyBlush10 How tantalising!

PeonyBlush10 · 29/11/2024 21:42

I saw an item (possibly a dress) in what looked like very fine needlecord in a beautiful cornflower shade of blue, all still in wrapping. Also a cardigan in a lovely shade of mid brown.

faustina · 30/11/2024 11:41

@Countmeout -I think the tan looks beautiful (though too flat for me). They have some in olive suede too which I think are new

Countmeout · 30/11/2024 11:59

Oooh off to look @faustina . The tan has arrived and are super comfortable. And very light on the feet, you’d hardly know you had them on.

@Countmeout I briefly considered returning the tan and ordering the cocoa brown, but I think I have plenty of darker shoes, including the Birkenstock black oiled clogs, so I’m sticking with the tan. And, yes, they are unbelievably comfortable.

mizu · 30/11/2024 15:09

Are the Virbae shoes true to size?

ScottishMouse · 30/11/2024 15:16

The mules look beautiful. I saw them in store and they were so soft and light. I was tempted to try them but I find it hard to keep mules on. Did I imagine it or did they have black earlier in the season, I can’t see them now.

Bimblesalong · 30/11/2024 15:22

Hi toasties! Also awaiting the sale.

could I please ask, can any of you share thoughts on Penelope Chilvers boots? I have my eye on a pair but am wondering how much “give” the leather has. Any thoughts welcome.

OftenOrange · 30/11/2024 15:51

@Bimblesalong I have tried 3 or 4 pairs of Penelope Chilvers boots and think styling and quality are both excellent . Unfortunately none of them were a success as they were too wide in the heel area causing the boots to lift up and down as I walked .The fit is just not for me so I gave up and sold them all.
IIt was over 5 years ago and the leather was a different type and thickness according to the style .

Countmeout · 30/11/2024 16:29

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I think I’ll keep the tan as I am likely to wear them a lot in summer and they will go with more. I could easily be tempted to buy the brown later on though.
@mizu hmmm, I used to be a 4 but became a 5 after having children but now a few 5’s are too big. However the Virbae for me are quite neat . I considered whether I would want to size up but have decided they would be far too big. The reviews seem split on it.

Thanks @OftenOrange

faustina · 30/11/2024 16:53

@Bimblesalong I've also had Penelope Chilvers products. Two pairs of boots both of which were quite a bit larger than average in size but seemed well made and were comfortable to walk in (once I'd had a rubber sole put onto the leather one, and then one pair of clogs which looked great but were so slippery underfoot, I worried for my safety. Like Orange, I sold them all as they just weren't for me.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/11/2024 17:35

@mizu I found them true to size, I'm a narrowish 5

Stoic123 · 01/12/2024 12:43

Getting the decorations out- woo hoo!!,

@IlovePond - baubles & furoshiki gifts 🥰

Whoohooh! @Stoic123 - they are lovely! Putting my tree up now!

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 14:25

My tree is up @Stoic123 - I do tend to put everything but the kitchen sink on it, (including some ancient decorations from my own childhood).

However, you can just see a couple of my Toast baubles 😹

Found the crackers and furoshiki!

ScottishMouse · 01/12/2024 16:01

@IlovePond we had that snowman and Santa with the tinsel on our tree when I was little! I haven’t seen them in years.

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 17:08

What a cute coincidence @ScottishMouse - I hope they brought back good memories!

I had all our home decorations - three boxes, including some wartime grey glitter ones - with me in my shared house when I was a student. Unfortunately one horrible girl stole two boxes so I just have a few of my originals left now😿

Still have the original ancient angel on top of the tree, though 😸

Stravaig · 01/12/2024 18:07

I love vintage tree decorations! (I have a treasured bauble story, but still deciding whether it's too odd to share publicly :)

I've been playing with my 5 things wishlist. My final choices will inevitably skew towards a practical need for warm things. But taking the missed Diamond Jacquard Scarf as a reference point, I think these are the five that most make my heart sing:

Birds print shirt or dress.
Emily Nixon ring and hoop earrings.
Hammered metal dove.
Hand forged barbecue tools.
Hand marbled weekly planner.

(no link = out of stock)

They were actually quite easy to choose - a lesson there, possibly, but not sure it's especially useful given genuine need for winter clothing!

Ooh, that’s a nice list @Stravaig . I really like those earrings and the dove!

Do we think there’s ANY chance of a mini sale tomorrow?

AmethystMoonShine · 01/12/2024 20:05

Not sure they’ve ever left it this late @IlovePond but I’ve got my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

IlovePond · 01/12/2024 20:22

Yes, it’s a bit odd @AmethystMoonShine - if I was Toast, I would probably wait until Xmas now.

I could have seen the point of a mini sale last Thursday to Monday perhaps, but now seems too close to Xmas and the ‘real’ sale!

Stravaig · 01/12/2024 20:55

I think I saw an email about Toast doing weekend festive markets throughout December? Somewhere in London. Maybe they're focusing on those instead?

Stravaig · 01/12/2024 20:58

Obviously I think all of us who live far away should receive a consolation festive bundle of, say, a marbled weekly planner and hammered metal dove :D
