We still have a few weeks to go but we are up to thread 6.

Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

My compensation from Harvey Nicks. Very pleased with it.

One 5ml, one 8.5ml, 2x10ml and 2x 15ml.

Beauty advent calendars 2024 #6
Doubleraspberry · 28/11/2024 08:26

That’s great! Are they all in the other calendar or are some extras?

Totally agree re the 7am thing. When I’ve been on calendar threads I just don’t go on them till I’ve opened the drawer.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 28/11/2024 08:34

@Doubleraspberry I don't think the Jo Loves one is in the main calendar so some from the calendar and some not.

HollyGolightly4 · 28/11/2024 08:37

25% off Molton Brown, including calendar. Half tempted, because it would provide stash of gifts for a while! Takes it to about £168

One of the escentric ones and the Fenty one aren't included but the Jo Loves is an extra.

So 5 out of 7 from the beauty calendar plus one extra. The Santal was the one I particularly wanted from the main calendar so I'm happy with that.

MrsBnow12 · 28/11/2024 09:04

@OchonAgusOchonOh So glad you got a satisfactory result and are happy with the replacements. HN customer service have done well in how they have dealt with this.

Housewife2010 · 28/11/2024 09:05

I don't understand the problem with a 7am opening agreement. Some people may open at midnight, others when they wake up. What's the problem with having an agreed time when people can post spoilers? It's not just about avoiding the thread. It will also show when you look at your watching threads or on Style & Beauty. It's a long time since I bought my calendar, so I'm still looking forward to the surprise every morning. I could just avoid Mumsnet when I wake up early, but I like it & this agreement has worked for years now, so why change it?

IDontHateRainbows · 28/11/2024 09:07

Has anyone managed to get the space NK extra 10% code to work. Or was it all a delusional dream?? I have the pillow talk dreams come true set in my basket, with 20% off its 254 plus you get 3 full size CT freebies. Still not sure whether it's worth getting, with an extra 10% off I'd probably be swayed.

Doubleraspberry · 28/11/2024 09:08

Well, no one is changing it, are they? I think we’re just saying it’s a bit of a pointless approach as if you go into a thread for a calendar before you’ve opened the drawer at any point in the day you obviously run the risk of being spoiled.

Housewife2010 · 28/11/2024 09:11

Maybe it just depends how you use MN. I always use the Watching feature so I would see spoilers before 7. (Of course if my aged hormones didn't keep waking me up far too early, I wouldn't have a problem!)

Roundaboot · 28/11/2024 09:18

The posts that drive me mad are the ones that don't even say what the day's item is because they are cautious of putting in a spoiler. If I'm reading the thread, particularly if it's a calendar I don't have, I want to know what was in the drawer and preferably see a photo.

Completely agree! The coy "oh, I love today's offering! The colour is just perfect!" etc really wind me up - tell me what it is FFS!

I don't mind the no spoilers before 7am thing. It just means that people don't get accidental spoilers from looking at their watching/I'm on threads before opening the calendar, and it's no great hardship for people to wait till after 7, in my opinion

They have looked after you, that's plenty to makeup for the few that were used from your advent. They are mostly expensive perfumes too with the le labo & xerjoff adding to over 140 euro with some discounts on!

No. Tried again this morning with the perfume I'm coveting. Maybe an intern went rogue with the email account or something.

I have to actively open a thread to see the contents as I have preview switched off! So that would make a difference. I can only spoiler myself deliberately!

MiaN · 28/11/2024 09:38

Nobody is suggesting or forcing anyone to do anything. If you want to participate in discussion with 7am rule clearly stated, then respect it. If you participate in discussion that doesn't do 7am rules - then it's your choice to follow or not. To me, it doesn't make sense and I would prefer discussion that is more concerned about everyone enjoying the chat vs following no spoiler rules before specific time. It's not hardship not to open the discussion before 7 if you are so concern about spoilers either.

We are all grown up here, do what works for you but if you join a discussion that is with (or without) some suggested guide - respect it.

Ok I don't understand TikTok but I have just managed to buy the Latest in Beauty for £74 via Insight Scoop (the order is still being fulfilled by LIb that is key) using their discount BF10 . Anyone in the market for a last minute bargain it might be worth checking out. Who knows it may go even cheaper

Definitely. I've just sent an email to the store manager letting him/her know how the woman I was dealing with turned a negative experience into a positive one.

Puravida23 · 28/11/2024 10:07

@OchonAgusOchonOh Amazing result there for you but also indirectly great marketing for Harvey Nicks . I am still scarred from the Harrods Fragrance Advent experience and you look at the difference in how the two companies dealt with an issue with their advents

virgocatlover · 28/11/2024 10:45

The Next calendars have now sold out

Sighmon · 28/11/2024 10:45

Sorry to derail slightly but does anyone think the liberty kits will be reduced? I’ve had my eye on the sleep one for a while but I don’t want to take the plunge if there’s going to be a reduction soon. Surprised their kits haven’t sold out actually.

MrsBnow12 · 28/11/2024 10:49

@Puravida23 Thanks for the info re Latest in Beauty, I couldn’t get it as low as £73 but bought it for £77. I have had my eye on it for ages and nearly bought it when it went to £99 but glad I held out.

It makes such a difference. And I'm telling everyone about how good they were so yeah, excellent PR.

Hopefully the scarring from Harrods will fade. Although I do personally bear a grudge well, as can be seen by my continuing boycott of LF😀

I completely agree with you. I'm so pleased that Harvey Nicks have sorted this out so well. It's such a contrast to every aspect of the Harrods fragrance advent calendar experiences some of us had.

Thank you. Bit chaotic there but I've got it for £77 😂
