We still have a few weeks to go but we are up to thread 6.

Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

My inbox is full of 25% and 30% off for Black Friday offers from various online beauty shops/brands. Probably this is the best time of the year to stock up on specific products.
I can't think of any routine products I need so am not opening any of these emails for fear of getting drawn in to 'want' territory.

@OvaHere your Beauty Pie LED masks mention is very good value - for those who missed your post before it got deleted because it had an offer code

Oh @Benny12 Foreo is one of my favourite brands, so had to look. Still expensive isn't it? One to explore next year if I save up. They do a hand LED device! I might wait until someone comes up with some sort of onesie LED suit with integral face mask. If I save enough in 20 years time it will come on the market at the equivalent of £50000 in today's money and by then I'll definitely need something drastic on the repair front. Another thing to take with me to the old people home when they send me there.

Inspired by an older comment (I'm sorry I can't find it to mention the PP's name), I'm thinking, yes, ancient Egyptian burial style would be the thing to do. I should probably start planting the seed in DH's mind that we need a mausoleum for me and my beauty stuff and my will needs changing to reflect my wishes that all this gear is coming with me for the afterlife. My stash would be seriously depleted during my stay at the old people's home because I'm planning on bartering it to get favours from staff, like being allowed to go out for the day and night and meet with my young boyfriend and wild stuff like that. Because obviously I'd be very old but looking amazingly young so there would be no reason not to have a young boyfriend.

Any chance the Dior (£540) advent calendar will be discounted after 1 December? 😭 It's my teenage daughter's dream calendar and I was thinking of giving it as a Christmas gift rather than advent calendar but not at that price 🙈

I haven't followed the Dior calendar in the past and can't say for certain, but I can't imagine they would. Maybe see if it is included in any of the x% reduction deals from shops like John Lewis or anywhere else that stock Dior.

To the PPs mentioning ridiculously priced ACs in the £thousands. My theory has always been that only rich men buy these for their mistresses to impress them without really caring. A very rich woman wouldn't spend money on such stuff, she'd expect the brand to send it to her for free.

Doubleraspberry · 22/11/2024 08:45

They’re definitely bought by very rich men who think ‘job done’. They so rarely have things in them anyone really wants!

OvaHere · 22/11/2024 08:45

@Branster Thanks. I didn't realise it was deleted, apologies for that.

The Beauty Pie masks are £120 for the face LED, £139 for the neck and chest LED or both for £259.

Anyone not a member should be able to sign up to a free trial which can be cancelled at the end of the trial period.

I think they will sell out again, the last drop went quite quickly.

OvaHere · 22/11/2024 08:51

I'd be surprised if brands like Dior reduce their calendars on the website. The packaging is just cardboard so I think they're more likely to deconstruct the calendars and redistribute the minis as GWPs.

Is there a Dior at Bicester Village? I think there is - maybe they would go there as an option?

The Hourglass offer is live for mailing list people. The GWP is a mini mascara, primer, powder and highlighter (or similar - just found by the picture!) set for £150 spend.

I’m sadly way too broke for it.

AMillionMugsNoTeabags · 22/11/2024 09:09

Does anyone know how to find a list of the contents of Sephora’s GWP?

Clicking just takes me to a list of over 4000 products, even the first few are clearly not in the gwp picture.

I can't find a written list but you should be able to make out most of them from this pic.

The BM one was reduced 2 years ago, probably by accident, to something like £20. I got it for that, had never tried BM before. It was really good, I'm now a convert and would recommend.

I used to use both Bare Minerals and Dermalogica quite a bit in my 30s then I stopped, mostly due to the cost, but I've never gone back to using them. I think maybe I associate them with my younger skin and not my now mature face!

Doubleraspberry · 22/11/2024 09:28

I'm finally opening that BM calendar this year after it got boxed up and forgotten about in a house move. No one mention use-by dates - I'm oblivious! I'll be splitting the contents between me and DD.

ElizabethG81 · 22/11/2024 09:34

I've never used Beauty Pie before, is it worth the membership?

Benny12 · 22/11/2024 09:50

Hey @Branster ...yes foreo is still expensive ...I had toyed with the idea of the bear 2 as a xmas pressie but caved in yesterday and bought the beauty pie neck and chest led mask instead ... I had been looking at the current body one (which topped a glamour poll) and they are very comparable with the bp one being £130 cheaper and BP also do a neck and chest serum that gets good reviews so may use it with that ....

Benny12 · 22/11/2024 09:54

@ElizabethG81 Ive been a BP member for about 5 years now ...I pay £5 a month or you can pay an annual membership ....they do try and offer 'cheaper ' alternatives to items on the market and there are some very good products on there ...the prices have crept up in recent years though but still good value ...they are doing a pop up in london this weekend so if you can get there ...its a good chance to test the products !

psuedocream3 · 22/11/2024 09:55

@AMillionMugsNoTeabags The GWP contents are listed here...

I got a 60 day trial when I signed up which has just rolled over into paid. I'm undecided at the moment what I think because I haven't fully got round to using all the things I've bought as yet because I have too much stash. I've also bought some things as gifts. I decided to give it a years membership to really test it out.

So the short answer to your question is I'm not sure.

CountryCob · 22/11/2024 10:11

I buy with a trail membership every so often and like their make up, haven't used skin care and fragrance. They do a good job on descriptions of colour and texture and photos of different skin tones to give you a fair idea and I have only bought one item I wasn't sure of and that wasn't a complete disaster just more brown as a lipstick than I thought. My more sensible and used everyday make up comes from there as rather than getting my head turned by some beautiful usual thing or packaging I go there for basics like a neutral eye shadow stick which I have time to consider. I like their under eye concealer, tinted moisturiser, velvet mascara, eye and lip liners and lip crayons, have also got a neck spray but didn't use it that much. You can always do a trail order and see, you get a while to cancel membership

Ohdear7 · 22/11/2024 10:12

The Latest In Beauty advent is now showing as £96.00 on TikTok shop but I’ve looked at the contents again and still not tempted. Shame as I’ve had it as a jadvent for the last few years. I think their past collaborations with Style (rather than Stylist) for advents and edits at this time of year have been much better. I hope they bring them back next year

Benny12 · 22/11/2024 10:15

my inbox is full of black friday offers coming in ...ok beauty now £90 with two mystery boxes added in ...
sephora doing a gwp beauty bag worth 120 when spending 120 ...today only on the app
boots up to 30% off (they are also doing a sol de janeiro box)
Stylist x latest in beauty was 169 now 111

Benny12 · 22/11/2024 10:18

@Ohdear7 ...96 on tick tock is much better than the 111 Im seeing it at on an email offer but I agree i still wouldn't buy at that price ...

OvaHere · 22/11/2024 10:33

I had a LiB email this morning saying their markdown starts on Monday so perhaps it will come down further in price.

ElizabethG81 · 22/11/2024 10:36

Thanks all for the Beauty Pie views. I'm tempted by the neck and chest LED mask, I already have a really cheap face one that does seem to work when I remember to use it!
