We still have a few weeks to go but we are up to thread 6.

Will we get any good Black Friday discounts?

@OvaHere I was in a bigger fancy boots earlier with premium brands and a lot had 20% off - if that is a good enough incentive for you then maybe it's easier to define exactly what you need - there were no crazy 70% off bargains or anything. In previous years Cult Beauty and Look fantastic have done much better BF offers, 2 for 3 etc ( so 33% off) so might be worth holding out for them

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 16/11/2024 08:48

Don't forget folks to use up any John Lewis beauty reward ... mine was only £10 ( I know some of you lucky ladies had £20) and I think they expire on 31 November. Lots of brands in store currently 20% off so may go a little further. Could be a free Christmas gift sorted?

I got a rituals shower gel although in ju haste I chose the wrong scent and it's a little too floral for me. Still a lovely freebie too and because the till was playing up the nice lady even chucked some samples in my bag

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 09:39

My friend got the M&S calendar in store yesterday, so not too late if anyone is still interested, (it’s sold out online).

Used the first £10 reward I had when I bought the Advent Calendar when it was first released.

Just used the second one on the larger SdJ set for my 15 year old who really wanted one for Christmas. She loves the scent and we all know what teenage girls are like about smelling nice. The £10 off brought it down to almost the price of the smaller set because of the sale, so worked out reasonably well I think. www.johnlewis.com/sol-de-janeiro-beija-flor-body-oasis-skincare-gift-set/p112091853

Has anyone started using their Ziip Halo from the BB box? I hadn’t heard of them before but thinking I maybe need one in my life so wondering whether they are worth the expense.

MrsBnow12 · 16/11/2024 12:25

@pinkchampagne1 Re the Ziip, I used mine a handful of times, probably not enough to form a proper opinion at how effective it was but decided I wanted a LED mask so sold mine to put the money towards one of those.

I had £15 off no min spend, got a l'occitane almond gift set and shower gel cost to me only £11 as there was already 20% off.

Not calendar related but I had £10 of shoes. I ordered a few pairs for size/fit etc and returned all bar one last weekend. I ended up with £2.67 off the pair I kept because the system shares the voucher out and anything returned is not transferable.

It's a case of 'computer says no' in both the store and CS even though most the staff I spoke to agreed that it wasn't right. Eventually, I did get the rest as a gift card as a 'goodwill gesture' but only, I suspect, because I returned a £300 electrical which had developed a fault a fortnight ago, and they couldn't find any record of the return. But that's a different story.

I might be unreasonable, but I feel that I fulfilled the terms of the voucher - buy a pair of shoes and get £10 off - and the system should be able to cope with that.

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 13:48

I agree @Cyclingmummy1 - I have fallen foul of the same sort of thing. I think it’s a case of, if you use a voucher, remember to buy one thing only in the event of any returns.

That is so annoying. I’ve just bought the Ted Baker and Revolution calendars to give to a charity I support to raffle them for fundraising. I could have saved some money had I waited a few days. 🤬

CorneliaStreet · 16/11/2024 18:04

There’s quite a lot of things on three for two on the Sephora UK site. Just ordered a set of mini Laneige lip sleeping masks for DD for Christmas.

I love those sets. I've bought 2 this year. Bought the first, really liked it so dished out the other minis to F&F then went back and bought another set. 😁

CountryCob · 17/11/2024 10:07

Oh I will go and have a look at Sephora, have enjoyed their bundles in the past. Are we optimistic for last minute reductions on actual Black Friday or do we think that this is it for prices going down?

Addictedtobeauty · 17/11/2024 10:48

I now have FOMO about the Laneige midnight minis kit. Hoping they come back in stock somewhere soon (preferably also on offer!).

kerstina · 17/11/2024 11:05

They look pretty sets but I can’t get excited about a lip mask !

MiaN · 17/11/2024 11:26

Last year Cyber Mondays was great but not got things that often go out of stock. Many added 10% off to existing discounts

Shall I attempt to de-influence you a bit? 😁

It is a cute set and it's nice to have a variety of flavours to try for under £20 but it's not without flaws. The pots are tiny and faffy to use. Unless you have finger nails cut right down lots of it ends up under your nails or you have to find some sort of tool to use.

I know I've just said I really like them and I do (because they're cute and the flavours are nice) but realistically this sort of product in a tube is way more practical. The large single ones probably also work better because I believe they come with an applicator.

Aldi has a dupe for the watermelon flavour in a tube that's very good for about £3 - if you can find any!

TitsInAbsentia · 17/11/2024 14:34

I know a lot of the christmas advents have sold out now but if anyone is still buying bits and pieces and has quidco if you are quick there is an opt in (for first 5000) to get £10 bonus cashback on a spend over £50 (by 2359 tonight) at Boots, Superdrug, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, Clarins, Cult Beauty, Elemis, Estee Lauder, ghd, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Jo Malone London, Lancôme, Space NK, The Fragrance Shop and The Perfume Shop

Which is sending me back round to pick up some more things!

MrsBnow12 · 17/11/2024 14:52

If anyone is looking for slip scrunchies (slip.com) sale has started and some colours are up to 60% off.
I love them but think they are very overpriced at full price.

I hadn’t heard of them until I read about them being included in the BB bag so I did a bit of research and have now decided I maybe need one! They are mega expensive though so not sure whether to go for the Foreo Bear instead.

Pinenu · 17/11/2024 17:58

Remember last year someone on the waifs thread had a tights calendar? It was so fun, I ended up looking forward to that more than my own.

bigdecisionstomake · 17/11/2024 18:33

@Pinenu I remember that - there was a Ukrainian day where the tights had one blue leg and one yellow leg if I remember correctly. I was most upset it was only a 12 day calendar!

Branster · 17/11/2024 18:56

I haven't looked into it properly yet, but I think I will be using the Ziip gadget when I get to it. I'll investigate all reviews when I unpack it to make it an event.
I've beet using Foreo Bear for a long time and upgraded to Bear 2 this year. I still haven't figured out how to do all the treatments but I am pleased with it because it us easy and quick to use.
It's not a miracle but I definitely notice it keeps the jawlines straight and just the overall face lines set back into their usual place. (If you're over 35 you'll know what I mean, when you wake up it takes a while fir the face to look 'settled').
I would say that you need to use it regularly, otherwise the results dissapear.
These are small improvements and only I notice these, but it definitely gives a good overall result without pinpointing exactly what happened.
It appears Ziip would have better/longer lasting results. Hard to tell.
At any rate, this was in today's Sunday Times. Bear in mind, like all magazines, I suspect half of it is advertising pretending to be journalism.
