Bumper empties. All my cleansers ran out in the same week!

Heimish All clean cleansing balm - 120ml. Almost exactly the same as my favourite Farmacy Green Clean but much cheaper 🙂. I’ve got the mandarin version to try next.

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture 5.5 cleansing gel - 100ml. This had quite a lot of slip, so it felt lovely to apply and you only need to use a tiny bit. Completely non-stripping too.

Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser - 200ml. One of my favourite products, leaves my skin feeling so soft. I’m not paying full price for it though, so will be on the look out for a beauty box with this in to get a replacement.

By Beauty Bay Brighten & Hydrate serum - 45ml. The couple of things I’ve tried from the Beauty Bay own brand have been good and they are really affordable/ always on offer.

La Roche-Posay Redermic retinol serum - 5ml. The second little sample tube of this I’ve used in a row. Seems really gentle and I’m not sure it is doing much, but I know retinol is a long game. Got a Murad one to try next.

Some by Mi retinol intense eye cream - 3ml. Only a little sample so can’t comment on longer term effects, but it was a very nice eye cream.

Byoma moisturising gel cream - 50ml. Nice lightweight moisturiser. I like Byoma.

No 7 Stay Perfect concealer. Thick, creamy texture and high coverage, so good for concealing spots. Already got a replacement.

YSL Black Opium - 7ml. Really like this, another one to add to the ever-expanding full bottle wish list.

Aveeno apple cider vinegar shampoo - 300ml. Didn’t think this was particularly clarifying. Prefer the volumising shampoo from this brand.

Lush almond buttercream - 100g. Kind of a hydrid between a body wash, an in-shower lotion and a body scrub, though the exfoliating bits in it were very gentle. Bit of a weird product, but very nice. I’m really enjoying the Lush subscription box, though DD is also enjoying it and has decided that we are now sharing all the products, whether I like it or not 😆

CND hand & body lotion - 245ml. Just used it as a hand cream. Pretty good, sank in fast. Wouldn’t cut it for really dry, chapped hands, but fine for everyday use.

Sorry, dropped badly off the thread :) but at least that means I have a few empties - taking me to 116 for the year.

Mitchum deo - HG, already RP
Ouai shampoo for thick hair - liked this and it lasted ages
Ren facemask – I liked this as well, made my face feel cleansed
Elemis eye cream - OK
Dr Gross - too small to tell
Momo conditioner - again OK
Votary moisturiser – I like other Votary products but this was not inspiring and didn't do much for my skin
Bibbi Ghost of Tom fragrance – from last year's Liberty AC oh I loved this so much and it lasted really well
SR Good Genes – another HG tho I have held off from rebuying as have other things to use up
Edit: Forgot the shower thing, think it was too old as it was totally lacking fragrance

👋🏼 waves at @clary Welcome back! Decent work on the stash there!!!

OvaHere · 09/12/2024 00:07

I have some empties to report.

Dermatica Glycerin Cleanser - I like this a lot to use on a morning and have RP a few times.

Ouai Leave in Conditioner - was okay, I would use it agin but not rushing out to RP. It was difficult to get the last dregs out of it.

SDJ Bum Bum Cream - I like using this and it's really easy to use up as I seem to use a load on each application. I still have a larger size left to open next. I don't think I'll go out of my way to RP as they seem to be easy come by as GWP etc.

AB The Rich Cream - I wasn't keen on this the first time I used it but it grew on me. I've been using it as a first moisture layer then topping off an hour or two later with a sleep mask cream. Finding that's working well for winter skin. I've picked a couple more up on Vinted and am going to keep using it for a bit. I will not be paying the RRP for it anytime soon though.

Suqqu Aquafons Lotion - This was from October's Liberty Beauty Drop. I really like it and the smell is lovely. I'm probably going to buy a full size at some point. It works as a hydration layer before moisturising.

Tatcha Rice Cleanser - This was okay, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I prefer the Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser.

KS Goat Milk Cleanser - Another product I wasn't sure about at first. The scent initially put me off but I got used to it really quickly and after a few uses loved it. I like to use a moisturising cleanser on an evening so this is on the RP list.

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Moisturiser - This is my current favourite moisturiser. I didn't expect to love it as it's a cream/gel texture which normally isn't rich enough for my skin but I've enjoyed it so much. Have already RP a large size.

Ouai St Barts Body Wash - Love this scent, it's like being on holiday drinking cocktails. I RP a full size during BF week with a discount.

Laniege Lip Mask in watermelon - This was from the minis set, I used the others in some advent calendars I made for family. I like it but I think Tatcha's lip mask is better. This is cheaper though.

Tatcha The Dewy Cream - Really like this cream, it deserves the reputation but it's expensive and I think the GR Plum cream is a close enough dupe for less money - I find they have a similar finish on my skin. I did RP a larger one in a set with the Indigo Cream but after those are done I might stick with the GR.

Forgot to add in to the photo...

Byoma Moisturising Gel Cream - This was a tiny 5ml sample. I wouldn't RP as it's not hydrating enough for me. Seems like a nice product though.

ITookYourJoob · 16/12/2024 19:45

Agadir Hair treatment - by far my favourite. Quite heavy though.

Grow Gorgeous shampoo and conditioner - conditioner works fine, nothing outstanding. Shampoo was too drying.

Natura Siberica eye patches - really nice. My favourite ones are getting too expensive so will buy these for now.

Philip Kingsley treatment - in every single beauty box 😅 Doesn’t do much.

Glow recipe cleanser - I prefer Drunk elephant.

Glow recipe plum plum cream - a bit sticky. Not my favourite.

Marc Jacobs Perfect body lotion - scent lasts ages. Very neutral. Would make a safe gift.

Fudge conditioner mist - smells nice but does nothing and makes hair greasy.

Nip and fab face wash - great for the price!

drunk elephant retinol - couldn’t stand the smell, otherwise really gentle.

Liz Earle cleanse and polish - has menthol in it so not for me.

Glow recipe eye cream - a tiny tube. I don’t think it’s very effective.

Fraaahnces · 18/12/2024 11:21

Fino Shampoo done - I usually prefer a transparent one but this one doesn’t weigh my hair down. I do find it very heavily scented though.
Fino Conditioner - ideal texture for me. Heavy enough to “do” something, but rinses cleanly. Effective. No weight. Love it.
Shiseido Ma Cherie Shampoo. Lovely clear shampoo that rinses cleanly without leaving hair feeling stripped.
Botanist - Raspberry and Water Lily Scalp Cleanser - Conditioner. Weird product. Smells amazing but doesn’t really do much.
Arkive - Prologue Hair Primer. Smells like old school Aveda. Delicious. Effective. I will buy again when I finish the heat protection I am using up.
Cerave Healing Ointment - Brilliant. Love. Staple.

MidnightMeltdown · 19/12/2024 13:41

Thanks @Fraaahnces!

Although this is a 2 year total as I didn't reach last year's target until Feb (I think!), so decided to just continue and try to get 200 by the end of this year. Getting close! Have a few more to add shorty.

Fraaahnces · 19/12/2024 13:49

I finished an ancient old recipe Laneige Cream Skin Mist (really don’t think they make that now). I have tipped all my mini milk toners into the bottle and made a Frankentoner. I threw in some samples of other hydrating toners that had been lurking in my skincare stash box too and it smells delicious as a bonus. It doesn’t mist very well, but it travels better than a heap of piddly little bottles that don’t carry enough to last an entire weekend. It was some effective clutter-busting anyway. I’m contemplating keeping this at work.

MidnightMeltdown · 19/12/2024 13:54

Latest empties:

186) Venn All in One Concentrate - liked this. Useful when in a hurry

187) Fabriq Safe Shampoo - good but pricey

188) Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mask - fine. I'm not really into sheet masks as it just seems like an expensive and environmentally unfriendly way to apply serum,

189) Patchology eye gels - as above

190) EGF Serum - this is great

191) Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter - good, but prefer the H&B one that I was using previously as it's less greasy

192) Aroma Active Salt Soak - fine. I like bath salts

Total 192/200

Frankentoner 🤣🤣🤣🤣 @Fraaahnces

I have one empty to report - a very boring tube of Steradent tablets which I use to clean my night guard. I am trying out a new brand that is way cheaper as now I have a denture I will be getting through these like nobodies business.

I am so knackered... feeling like I am limping to year end. Anyhoo in case things get even more manic here, let me please wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

@Experiment627 - Use them to clean your manky coffee cups or your loo if you don't like them. They’re great for getting rid of calcium build up.

Fraaahnces · 20/12/2024 03:08

This year couldn’t be flushed faster if you ask me. Good riddance. I’m still deluded enough to think it’ll get better… naive little sap.

ITookYourJoob · 20/12/2024 08:49

@Fraaahnces - 😂😂😂 Frankentoner sounds great, let us know how it works.

Fraaahnces · 20/12/2024 22:59

Frankentoner is fab but the mister is now more of a violent sneeze

R00tat00tt00t · 25/12/2024 22:09

Hiya & Merry Christmas!
Can I join you all please?
I heard about this thread on another and it sounds right up my street. I have a huge stash of skincare and makeup plus bath, hair, hand & foot cream, perfume etc. I have two over-flowing make-up bags and a whole vanity unit full of stuff, some full size, some gift sets, samples etc. A lot of it is pretty high end either purchased, gifted or from Liberty advent calendars so I really want to make use of as much of it as possible rather than waste it. I got another Liberty AC this year and some beauty treats for Christmas. I think my first step will be to get everything out and chuck anything that has expired or oxidised. Then I'll make a spreadsheet of what I've got with best before/ expiry dates. I've already got a few things that are almost finished. I'll aim for 52 items finished this year (2025), any extras will be a bonus. Hoping this will save me some money and keep purchases to a minimum.

OvaHere · 25/12/2024 22:41

Hi @R00tat00tt00t

I'm planning to do a spreadsheet in the new year too. I need some accountability. 😂I already know I have a ridiculous amount of cleansers, for some reason they seem to be my favourite type of product. I'm going to be washing my face a lot in 2025!

Fraaahnces · 26/12/2024 07:01

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope Santa was very generous this year! I am very pleased that I did my ruthless chuckout as nearly everything was beauty related, but no double ups, so all well. I received some Glossier Lip Balms. I had never tried them, so very pleased that I have some handbag friendly balms. (Biscotti and Espresso - very me.) Some Guerlain Herba Fresca is on its way, and a gift card. I am not braving the shops today!

(Also have an order with shampoo, conditioner, hair oil and sunscreen coming (Tsubaki (camellia oil) shampoo - all new to me. Will report when it arrives.)
When it does arrive I will be throwing out my Garnier Fructis Hair Oil as it is awful. It stinks and you need to use liters of the stuff to get it through your ends, then it goes gummy. 0/10. Do not recommend.

Experiment627 · 26/12/2024 07:01

Welcome @R00tat00tt00t!!! If you start witg your smaller items you should have some quick wins as empties which can help build momentum.

I appear to not really have a beauty prpduct stash issue so much anymore - mainly cos I have legitimised it with my channel 🤣🤣🤣 but I have an absolute overload of toys! My son and got back yesterday with TWO Ikea bags full - Christmas presents. I am going to try and get him to agree to donate as many as possible of his old ones over the next few days: wish me luck!

@Fraaahnces I have tried using denture cleaning tablets down the toilet - I live in an extremely hardwater area and limescale is everywhere! But I do actually use the denture tablets - using two a day now as I have a denture and a nighguard - so for the toilet I tend to use elbow grease and sometimes a Harpic tablet.

(New to the thread and did not think my first post would be about limescale in the loo!)

Another hard water dweller here. I use Viakal spray above the water line and under the rim. @Experiment627 in my opinion the limescale is tough and elbow grease alone is impossible. Which harpic tablet do you use and is that for below the water line?

I have been reading this thread for a while mainly to find out which products you love and would rebuy. After a pre Christmas spree on a few skincare products / sets and an advent calendar I now realise I should join and start using things up. Planning to organise my stash today so it's easier to work out what is currently in use and focus on getting it used up. I know I have several masks and serums currently open. I used a single use eye mask yesterday that I had probably had for 5 plus years. It was ok but wouldn't recommend although it might have been better 5 years ago!

SwordBilledHummingbird · 26/12/2024 09:19

I did fairly well this year in getting through my stash. I have two separate categories but adding everything together comes to:

In: 196
Out: 256

So a stash reduction of 60.

However, 2023 was a terrible year and I carried over a surplus of 97 into 2024 - eek! So while I used up an equivalent amount to everything I brought in, I only cleared 60 of the 97 surplus, which is a net increase of 37. Will try even harder this year!

R00tat00tt00t · 26/12/2024 09:26

Thanks @Experiment627, great tip to start me off.
I think I'm going to add to my challenge by saying that I will only spend (on beauty) what I make on Vinted by getting rid of other clutter around house, and also any vouchers etc I'm given. I already have a £25 Liberty voucher on its way that they sent out to everyone who bought this years calendar due to a potentially faulty candle, plus a £25 Boots voucher - I never shop in Boots but I'm sure it will come in handy.
Anyway, our guests are here until tomorrow and it would be rude of me to hide away working on this while they're here but I'll crack on tmrw.

R00tat00tt00t · 26/12/2024 09:31

Thanks for the welcome @OvaHere

  • it does sound like you will have a squeaky clean face!
I'm hoping my skin will be grateful for my stash usage as it might make me stick to a regular night time routine rather than just hopping straight into bed after removing my eye makeup-up Blush
Experiment627 · 26/12/2024 11:30

Welcome to the thread @Choux - I love it when a lurker joins 💜

Above water I use Viakal (or similar) or a cream cleaner like Cif and a Sponge Daddy. Below the waterline I use the Harpic Power Plus deep clean tabs and then hours later, I scrub (hence elbow grease) with the Sponge Daddy. I am unable to leave the tabs overnight as I am up and down all night but if I am out for the day I use that time to let them work. Still copious amounts of elbow grease required. I find the Sponge Daddy alone can get it off the bathroom tiles - whilst I am having a bath...

@R00tat00tt00t what a fantastic idea! Maybe I should do the same for my ebay sales...but I suddenly feel panicked like an addict would... My stash is way better than it used to be and I am much better on giving things away if I know I do not like them or if I use them and think someone else I know will like them more than me.

@Fraaahnces have you tried the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil? I find a drop of that goes a long way. OR the L'Oreal Elvive Glycolic Gloss leave in serum - which is bloody hamazing?
