Happy Christmas everyone and welcome to @R00tat00tt00t and @Choux!

Last empties of 2024:

Some By Mi Propolis B5 glow barrier calming cream - 20g. Really liked this. Lightweight gel texture but still moisturising and soothing. Smells of honey, which I love but might put some people off.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow toner - 150ml. Love how hydrating and soothing this feels. I think it has a bit of a cooling effect (might be psychological from the cucumber/watermelon scent). Pretty bottle too.

Peter Thomas Roth hyaluronic water drench serum - 5ml. Not particularly hydrating and didn’t like the smell.

Laneige lip sleeping mask in vanilla - favourite flavour.

Perfume sample, Sexycrush by Jus. Horrible name, but quite a nice fragrance. Warm and spicy and good for winter.

OGX argan oil lightweight hydration shampoo and conditioner - 385ml each. These were fine, but nothing special. Wouldn’t repurchase. Also OGX bottles annoy me because the design of the top means you can’t store the conditioner upside down when it’s getting emptier.

Organic Shop coconut and sugar body scrub - 250ml. Ok, but not my favourite body scrub formula. Smelled more floral than coconut.

Lush Yog Nog shower gel - 120g. Felt lovely on the skin (like all Lush shower gels I’ve tried), but the scent was a bit too sickly sweet.

Bath & Body Works body lotion in Luminous and Gingham Vibrant - 236ml each. My favourite body lotion formula. Annoyingly no good scents in the current Next sale and they haven’t had any good offers for ages either. Down to a mere three of these left in the stash!

Lush Sleepy body lotion - 90g. Possibly the loveliest smelling product I’ve ever had. Used as a bedtime hand cream so this little pot lasted ages. Have already bought another one.

Merry Christmas 🎄

I have quite a few things to add to my inventory- I’ll be starting off 2025 quite replenished 😊

Peridot1 · 26/12/2024 13:14

Hello everyone and merry Christmas. I lost the thread a few months ago but need to get back on track. After Christmas presents (which I bought myself for DH to give to me) and the Liberty advent calendar my stash has built up quite a bit again.

So I search you out and find you’ve all moved on to talking about cleaning toilets! 😂

I need to do a bit of a stock take and a spreadsheet of some description. And possibly be a bit ruthless with old stuff.

My hair used to be coloured and in a shoulder length bob. It’s now short and grey so the hair products I have for coloured or damaged hair (which it was for a while) are now too heavy. My sister is coming to stay at the weekend so I’ll let her have a look to see if she will use any of it.

Looking forward to a bit of a sort out!

Fraaahnces · 27/12/2024 12:23

Aprilskin Cleansing Balm all gone. Delicious citrus scent, very, very effective, super easy to spread, BUT bright bloody orange and messy as heck. Loved it and hated it in equal measure. Won’t repurchase. I have other balms and oils in my stash to get through.
Confession:- did two Beautyamora orders in last 24hrs. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Despite what I just said, I ordered the Curel Makeup Removing Balm (in a tube for travel next month) some hair oils and treatments, shampoo and conditioner and sunscreen as I am almost out. Everything is on sale and I had a voucher as well.
Speaking of vouchers, I also purchased DedCool’s Red Dakota perfume today before another voucher expired. It’s probably not for everyone, but it’s fresh and tangy like rhubarb and citrus so perfect for work here. Plus it has great longevity. I can’t stand sweet fragrances at work on myself - no idea why, so this is ideal.

Fraaahnces · 27/12/2024 12:28

@Experiment627 I have tried the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil and liked it - but for the fragrance. I actually had it in my hand and swapped it for the Garnier and regretted that decision. The L’Oreal Gloss is new here. Am worried it might weigh my hair down. (Not at all difficult.)

Experiment627 · 27/12/2024 12:37

@CorneliaStreet I adore the Lush sleeping lotion too. Must get me some more of that!

@Peridot1 🤣🤣🤣 and guess what?! I forgot to put the Harpic tablets in as I left today!!!

@Fraaahnces cannot say I have noticed the smell of the Extraordinary Oil. The Glycolic Gloss stuff does smell BUT worth it IMO. You may find the leave in serum too heavy but the 5 minute rinse off lamination might work better. I use all 4 products from the range but not often all together- that said, when I have done, my hair is DIVINE!

My final empties of the year.
i think this takes me to 96.

Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery. Absolutely this, perfect day cream with sun protection.
Amika Soul food hair mask. It was really good, not too heavy. A potent repurchase.
Aveda botanical repair. Great product.
Tatcha Rice wash. Love this too, face feels very clean and smooth post.
Fresh sugar mango lip balm. Was ok.
Rlemis superfood midnight facial. Loved this. Very hydrating.
M and S hand balm. Was ok.

my target for next year is 90 which will be most of my stash (not including perfumes).

Minnie123456 · 27/12/2024 23:44

Probably my last empties of 2024.
Co Lab black violet dry shampoo- I really liked this, didn't leave a white residue and smelt nice. Will rp.
Faith in Nature Lemon and teatree condtioner- didn't do much for my tangled hair wouldn't rp.
Ogx charcoal detox shampoo- hated this, made my hair lank and feel horrible.
L'occatine 20% shea butter hand cream- this was nice and moisturised my hands, might rp when I work my way through my stash.
Carmex lip balm- hg product for me, haven't rp yet though as working my way through my other lip balms first.
Malin and Goetz resurfacing serum- this was too harsh for my skin and kept making my skin break out in red blotches
Burts bees pomegranate lip balm- didn't like this at the start but grew to like it.
Lacura Q10 night cream- I usually rp this as I like it but have got the Lidl one to try as I have to order the Aldi one on Amazon.
Verden Hortosa hand and body cream- not sure if this was off but it smelt awful, not a rp for me.
56/100
Didn't meet my target but there was a few months I didn't really try. I'm going to reset my target for the new year.
I'm on a no buy this year unless I really really need it although I will still get my beauty drop box . If I buy more than 10 products in the year that I want but don't need then I'm telling myself that I'm not allowed an ac for Dec 😂

@Experiment627 I might look for the L’Oreal Gloss lamination and serum on sale and try it. I have two mermaids to donate to if it doesn’t work out. You would be horrified at the cost of the drugstore ranges here, though. There is a reason I “splurge” on the J-Beauty shampoo…. A) it works and B) Industrial-sized bottles. They’re cheaper than the drugstore stuff and the bottles are three times the size. Can’t believe how much you get for the price. Also, have noticed a massive reduction in hair fall. Dare I say it, my hair is thickening up and getting longer despite my advanced age. (I also suspect it rinses more cleanly from the scalp as I have noticed my scalp is less “sensitive”.)

R00tat00tt00t · 28/12/2024 10:04

This is my stash - one of skincare, hair & scent; the other of make-up. It's not as bad as I thought it might be but I've not included the treats from this years Liberty AC or other Christmas pressies as they should all be okay to keep for a while so going to try and work my way through this lot first. I dread to think what this all cost but as long as I make use of it that's okay.
I've already got a few empties lined up to chuck before NY but might have a few more to add in.

Finally some empties to report!
AB rich cream - a controversial one but my skin loves it. This was a Vinted rp after I got a mini in a beauty box. Would rp again if I can find a similar price for it which is likely as they’re always popping up
AB the serum - again I got a sample of this and so annoyed that my skin loooved it because it’s so expensive. Genuinely see a difference in my skin after using. I picked this up on Vinted as bargain of the year and won’t ever get it for the same price again. Can’t justify the current Vinted prices for it really (was in the space nk advent so lots on there). Sighh, guess I’ll have to pretend we never met..
Laneige water bank moisturiser - really like this as day cream. Very hydrating. Have a larger size to open but I hate how wasteful the packaging is in the bigger size, it’s so unnecessary
O’Keefes foot cream - deffo will rp, very effective
Skin1004 SPF - a staple and always more have in my stash
Summer Fridays moisturiser sample - I really like this brand. Love the jet lag mask and lip balm and have rp both. This was only enough to try once but skin was really soft in the morning

Have a few more almost empty but not quite there yet which will take me into the new year. I’ve sold a lot of unopened skin care this year so have made a good amount back from that, so trying to be more mindful going forwards.

I'd like to join please Smile
I've just done an audit list of all my lotions and potions and it's excessive. That's not counting the stuff I have in my overnight wash bag or gym bag.

I've downloaded the Boots recycle app to make a note of how far I've come in getting rid of the empties. Hopefully this time next year I'll have some export drawers...

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 28/12/2024 21:27

I dare not photograph my stash. Too ashamed really for the amount I have.

some empties though:

3 bath bombs that my DDs used and I don’t have the picture.

deluxe aromatic hand wash by Lidl with eucalyptus, mandarin and cedar wood. Smelt and felt luxurious. I would rp but I have others in the aforementioned stash.

Huggies wipes. A favourite of ours.

Radox feel awake body wash with fennel. Loved the aromatic smell of this, more masculine leaning but I loved it. Would recommend.

mamia hair and body wash with oatmeal. Similar to Aveeno . It’s okeish.

antidabdruff ds shampoo sample. Smelt very masculine but my nose could detect rotten egg smell due to the sulphur in it. Can’t comment on the effectiveness of it.

The Boots app is great to keep track. I used to be able to watch all empties but I can’t now. Since I joined in 2022 I have recycled 500 something items.

A few more empties:

193) Space NK Voyage Shower Gel - nice scent. Lasted ages!

194) Soap & Glory Body Scrub - OK, but more aimed at teenagers I think!

195) Olaplex No 4 - this did seem to smooth my wavy, flyaway hair, but it also leaves a residue which makes my hair go greasy much more quickly than usual.

196) Garnier Moisturiser - good moisturiser, but not my favourite scent

197) Versed Gel Cream - I quite like a gel cream, but more for summer really. Just thought I'd use it up as it was hanging about half used in my travel bag.

198) Alter Ego Silver Shampoo - Good for keeping brassiness at bay between balayage appointments

Total 198/200

Starting 2025 with another 100 product goal, thank you for the motivation @Experiment627

7/100

Mitchum - only one that works without irritation, I obviously overbought and now down to just the one in use.
Naturally Smart Skincare face cream - lovely thick and gentle, lavender made it a nice night cream.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist - I liked the ultra fine spray, I disliked the scent and wasn't convinced it actually did anything
Augustinus Bader face oil - smelled like a chip pan and made no visible difference. I like the Bader creams but this was pointless on me.
Malin & Goetz moisturiser- light and easily absorbed, disliked the scent
L'occitane shower gel - lovely and a hotel freebie
Marie Danielle shower gel - hotel freebie, again lovely

I have fallen off the thread but am back on a no buy for at least the first half of year. I did have 2 advent calendars and have bought some K beauty stuff in November/December. The advents were quite practical (H&B and Grüum) so everything will be used.

I had some empties that I didn't take a photo of so there were about 4 or 5 other things that I can't remember.

The Ordinary resveratrol and ferrulic acid. No idea if it did anything. I added a drop or two to the vit c serum in the evening.

No 7 moisturising mask. I'm so glad this is finished. It seemed endless and I definitely didn't notice any effect.

Hyaluronic lotion. Loved this. I have started an essence in the same brand but it's the blue one so not as many types of HA. I have the premium essence in my stash too. I think I prefer the consistency of the lotion though.

I'm from rice moisturiser. I liked this but it's a bit light for winter.

Seaweed lip balm. This is lovely.

Fraaahnces · 04/01/2025 12:37

I finished the not very Japanese-sounding Ma Cherie Airy Moist Shampoo. It smells delicious and does an okay job. Cleanses well, rinses cleanly. I just felt like I wanted a good scalp cleanser to use once a week or so and then use my gentle, moisturising shampoo the other time I wash it. I took the advice of the sales assistant at my local Asian beauty store (AKA Dealer/Enabler) and purchased the unfortunately-named Moist Diane Extra Fresh & Hydrate Shampoo, and boy is she minty! It’s left my hair soft, shiny and voluminous. I wouldn’t push my luck and try it for every wash though.

I've decided, like some of you, to have target of 100 items out for the year. That's 5/100

Peridot1 · 04/01/2025 16:04

Yes I like the idea of a target of 100 items too @OchonAgusOchonOh.

I think I’ll keep it simple and keep a notebook by my dressing table and jot things down. And a basket to put empties in - currently they just lie around the room with me meaning to take picture and put them up in here and then getting fed up seeing them and just chucking them.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 04/01/2025 16:45

Hi ladies! First of all, Happy New Year albeit a bit late.

I think the 💯 empties is a great number. I have realised though that the main items I use are hygiene products such as shower gel shampoos and the like and I am having very little impact on face creams, washes, toners and serums.

Hence my goal for 2025 is to use 52 of such face products. One for each week of the year. I may cheat and use a sample here and there to make up for the lack of empties in one week, but I am not counting body products towards that goal, although I will keep posting them here.

Happy beautifying x

Yeah, I'm not counting soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc either. I will count body scrub, body lotion etc though.

MotherWol · 05/01/2025 17:04

I’m enjoying reading everyone’s beauty resolutions! I did a stash stocktake and it currently stands at 38 products, including minis, so I think my resolution will be not to let the stash grow. I’ve definitely got enough fragrance to last me through 2025, and enough of my current favourite skincare for the next couple of months. I’m also going to use the Boots recycling scheme so when I’m buying hygiene basics I’m earning points back.

MotherWol · 05/01/2025 17:10

And here’s the last of my empties from 2024.

Baylis & Harding hand wash refill: worked fine, smells nice, I like the refill pouch. Will repurchase.

Soap Daze frankincense soap: lovely woody scent, slightly gritty/exfoliating. Really nice, would be a good gift.

Geek and Gorgeous hydration station: more of a gel cream texture than happier barrier, which I prefer.

Palmers coconut hand cream: very coco nutty (obvs), wouldn’t RP

Mitchum deodorant: the GOAT. Accept no substitute.

Monta monta all purpose balm: I think this has been lurking in a drawer for years until it went rancid and I binned it.

Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

I have one used up product on Christmas Eve, Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner 150ml. Love this and had repurchased.

My stats for 2024 (from August 2024) were as follows:
67 products used up
57 to Womens Aid
13 presents for birthdays
6 presents for Christmas
143 outs

The bad news is that I had 118 in. I will do better in 2025!
