I'm a lurker on here 👋 and love reading all your likes and dislikes. What does surprise me though is what a lot of meh products seem to be around, particularly high-end ones. I'm a very basic, low maintenance woman in her 70s (and have found a skin routine that seems to suit) but am still on the hunt for a gorgeous bubble bath with a lovely floral perfume and luxurious bubbles.....in the meantime, I'm loving this thread!

Finished a neom lavender pillow spray. Gifted to me. Didn’t really like it so much. I love lavender. But on my pillow it was too much. That’s a me thing though. Not the spray.

husband said it’s the nicest one he’s ever used.

Caggie09 · 18/09/2025 20:18

Lush Dream Cream. Gone through multiple pots of this. I have eczema prone skin, and it works miracles with me. Soothing and gentle, any sign of a flare and its vanished. I do prefer the self preserving one over the original one. Will RP

Fraaahnces · 20/09/2025 01:57

My addiction to Laneige Lip Mask is no secret. In the drawer next to my bed I had five flavours all on the go. It’s unrealistic and cluttered. I combined the Cotton Candy Swirl one (did not remotely taste or smell like that, but was a lovely fruity vanilla scent, thank goodness) with the Ube one my daughter gave me. I didn’t love that one. Smelled like vanilla and bread mixed together. It’s improved it and has the sheerest lilac tint which is flattering for me. I found the I’ve one stiffer than previous ones and mixing it up has improved the texture. I have combined a peppermint one and a berry one. This should absolutely be a flavour. It’s fabulous. Now I have three. (And one in my car and one in my work bag… and one in the kitchen next to the hand cream I never use.) So back to Frankenbalms.
I have also finished a bottle each of the yellow Tsubaki shampoo & conditioner (Premium Volume and Repair.) My usual supplier was out of the refills so I went with something else. So far, so good. I am using another JBeauty one, Moist Diane (yep, that’s really the name) Perfect Beauty Extra Hair-fall Control and despite the name, I love it. Smells good, doesn’t leave my hair brittle or flat. The conditioner rinses well.

Fraaahnces · 20/09/2025 03:28

Edit:- I was telling DH about this addiction and he said “Stop right there!” and brought two more I had left in his car. Literally while we were talking, DD1 sent me a message asking if I had received her parcel. She has ordered the Strawberry Shortcake one for me from Sephora. All up, I have two Frankenbalms, three OG’s, one on its way and a mini. (Which I refill from the big ones). While the world burns atm I am going to go down with soft, plumptious, hydrated lips.
*I have given DH a full-size one to keep by the bed for himself. That’ll be used quickly. Don’t you just love when they jam their giant finger in and scoop out enough to feed a family, and then complain about it being gloopy?

Experiment627 · 20/09/2025 10:30

@Lifestooshort71 welcome to the thread 💜

@Fraaahnces I love how you mix up the lip masks - genius!

I have an empty:

  • Simple moisturising facial wash: loved this! Cheap as chips. Great as an in the shower cleanser that is non-stripping. Already RP.

Starskin cream sheet mask - this came in a beauty box. It was quite nice but the packaging was ridiculous for one mask. The packet shown was inside a cardboard box then the mask itself was encased in two parts, both in plastic, inside this packet. I would use it again if one came my way but so much unnecessary packaging.

Tatcha dewy skin mist travel size - Very nice mist, use it for a bit of midday hydration. I have another travel size knocking about with a bit left in it. I probably wouldn't buy it but if it arrives again as a gwp I will use.

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Moisturiser mini- I really like this. I don't usually get along with more lightweight moisturisers but this is both light in texture and rich enough. I like to use it on make up days as it doesn't pill under spf, primer or foundation/tint. I've used up other minis before and I have a larger pot to open.

Boots Dry Shampoo. Its okay, doesnt leave white cast. But dont feel like its very heavy duty, i find hours later it can look a wee bit greasy.

Gisou hair mask. Lovely thick mask and i enjoyed the scent. My hair looked shiny and soft after using. But dont think id go out my way to buy.

Lacura Rose Cleansing balm. For a budget balm i have no complaints. Its not as indulgent as Elemis, but it wiped all my makeup off and my skin felt lovely and smooth. It felt a little gritty, but didnt mind. Also enjoyed the scent. Would RP.

Cosrx snail mucin. Understand its a marmite product. Use it everyday, have done for years. Find its the perfect base for all my other skincare and my skin likes the extra hydration.

Eve lom cleansing oil sample. I like the scent of the cleansing balm, so knew id like this. Nice texture and the scent carried through. I find it such a relaxing scent. Im tempted to buy a full size. But i dont think ive ever bought an Eve Lom product as they are always in GWP.

I found an old favourite lipstick in the stash. It was a Revlon Colour Stain, crayon lipstick. I pulled the lid off and omg 🤢… it had evolved. I tried to remember when I wore it last and it was when I was in Italy in 2014. Whoops. This caused a crapalanche of sniff tests and I threw out 14 lipsticks and about six glosses. Tbh, I go through glosses pretty quickly, so they were old because I didn’t like them. My stash is much more manageable now.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 22/09/2025 13:29

@Fraaahnces love your sense of humour and I missed it . Which shade was the Revlon evolving lip crayon?

Fraaahnces · 23/09/2025 01:39

The one I opened was “Honey”.,, I actually found another of the same in an old handbag last night. Both binned pity, as it was a fabulous formula and this was a great nude on me. The other one was “Crush” which was a lovely, neutral berry.

paristotokyo · 23/09/2025 06:19

Couple of empties:
Good virtues co. shower cream - fine, did the job
SDJ delicia drench shower oil - this was a freebie I got. Love it and would purchase a full size. Not a fan of SDJ especially but this is the one item of theirs I’d rp
SDJ beija flor elasti-cream - not the biggest fan of this scent, it’s fine and used it up but wouldn’t rp
BOJ spf - a staple. Have rp to replace already

Laneige cream skin toner - nice toner, sinks in nicely. Feels nice and refreshing in the morning, great base for rest of my skincare. But Byoma do a milky toner, which is cheaper and does the same. Would RP if i wanted a treat though.

I think I need to do a declutter in the lipstick section. I don’t have those colours you had. I prefer reds even though for the school run they look absolutely ridiculous and over the top. Otherwise they don’t get used

Fraaahnces · 23/09/2025 23:30

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I ended up deporting some of my still good but not worn very often lipsticks into a tiny watercolour paint tin. I have them together, and the tin is about the size of two lipsticks side by side. I have a retractable lip brush so can take them in every handbag.

OvaHere · 24/09/2025 10:17

More empties

Mini Drunk Elephant Protini Cream - I like this. I find it to be similar to Tatcha Dewy Cream in terms of performance. It's a solid winter moisturiser for people with a dry skin type. I think I prefer Tatcha Dewy Cream overall just because I like a bit of fragrance. I would use this again as it's great but probably would only get a full size if there was a really good offer as I prefer Tatcha at a similar price point.

Allies of Skin 20% Vitamin C - I love this and am disappointed it's finished. It's very expensive but it did last a while. It has a thick consistency so don't use it on dry skin. It works best when your face is a bit slippy so I'd use a HA serum first. It has a warming feeling when you massage it in which is unique to any Vit C serums I've tried so far. I really want to RP this but I have a few other Vit C serums to use first. This has gone straight to top of the list of ones I like.

Tatcha Kissu lip mask - a very satisfying empty as these pots feel like they will go on forever. I like it more than others I've tried but I still have others to use up so not an immediate RP. Planning to rebuy this in January when Tatcha run their Fukubuki (lucky bag) event.

Davines OI leave in conditioner - Another love. All these empties have been top tier. Definitely on the RP list but I do have a mini one in my Harrods advent calendar and I have at least a couple of other leave in conditioner mists to use up.

ITookYourJoob · 25/09/2025 09:57

SDJ shampoo and conditioner- have had these before and still find them quite drying.

Supa Thick scalp balm - herby scent and not much difference.

Revive face mask - really pretty golden colour but didn’t feel moisturising.

Charlitte Tilbury radiance serum - again, not much to say. Nice enough but there are similar products around.

Murad retinol cream - nowhere near as potent as the Dermatologica.

Kiehls ultra facial cream - very average. No better or worse than Nivea or Garnier.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar - loved it. Will have to replace it. Don’t think there is anything quite like it on the market.

sephora eye patches - nice and soothing.

Gisou - very average. Won’t be buying full size.

Choux · 25/09/2025 10:46

@ITookYourJoob I hear you on the Kiehl’s ultra facial cream not being very ‘ultra’. Unfortunately on a trip to the US last autumn I got very excited about the Black Friday deals on at Kiehl’s and bought a 250ml pot of it at a really good price compared to buying the equivalent in the UK. I am so bored of it but still have about 50% of it left as I only use it in the mornings. I am never buying it again and won’t buy a moisturiser bigger than 50ml again!

ITookYourJoob · 25/09/2025 12:57

@Choux oh wow, 250ml will last you a looooong time. Even my small pot seemed to have no bottom 😅 I do think Kiehl’s era is largely over now - can’t think of any of their products I’ll definitely repurchase.

CorneliaStreet · 25/09/2025 15:19

Some more empties:

Goodal Heartleaf Cleansing Foam - 150ml. Liked this, nice thick, creamy texture. Might be a bit stripping on drier skin than mine though.

Mixsoon Heartleaf Essence - 100ml. I’ve been using a few Heartleaf products recently and it seems to be really good at calming down redness. My favourite is the Anua heartleaf toner as it’s really lightweight. This Mixsoon essence had a slightly oily feel that I wasn’t as keen on and it took a while to absorb.

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant - 30ml. Not sure if I had a dud or if this usually smells like cheesy feet, but some fragrance would not have gone amiss here. Felt gentler to use than I expected but probably not something my skin really needs.

Isntree Hyaluronic Moist Cream - 100ml. Liked this, not too heavy, not too lightweight.

Daeng Gi Mel Ri Vitalizing Shampoo and Treatment - 145ml each. Liked these too, nice fragrance and seemed to suit my hair.

Lush Lemony Flutter Body Conditioner- 100g. Gorgeous scent but I don’t really like the body conditioner formula, too greasy.

Herlum Copa Dew All-Over Nourishing Oil - 15ml. Loved this. Mainly used on my legs after shaving and it was really soothing and absorbed quickly. Smelled great too. Only a tiny bottle but lasted for ages as you only need a little bit.

Tree Hut Pineapple Body Scrub - 510g. My favourite body scrub in my favourite scent.

Tree Hut Pineapple Whipped Shea Body Butter - 240g. Lovely formula, not as heavy as a lot of body butters.

I’ve also got the matching Tree Hut pineapple shower gel but that’s a massive bottle so I’ve still got half left - perfect excuse to buy more of the scrub and body butter 😆

MidnightMeltdown · 25/09/2025 16:46

Fraaahnces · 11/09/2025 02:50

@MidnightMeltdown Good thing you’re done with the Ultra Violette. Several of their “flavours” have been recalled as their SPF protection was really inconsistent, testing anywhere between 4 and 60.

Oh no, I didn’t know that! Just as well that I didn’t take it on holiday.

It looks like it was the purple ‘lean screen’ that failed tests, but that doesn’t mean to say that this one wouldn’t too! Worrying that you can’t trust what you’re buying.

Fraaahnces · 26/09/2025 12:32

Here’s the blurb about the Ultra Violette sunscreen. I thought they pulled another line too, but I can’t find anything on it. TBH, I do wonder how often sunscreens are checked once they are in production already.

More empties:

Imperial Leather lychee and lotus flower shower foam - I liked this although this particular scent was a bit sweet for me. I prefer my Rituals shower foams but these are a good cheap alternative.

Beauty Concepts micellar water - hated it. Annoying pump dispenser and a weirdly thick texture that felt like it left residue on my face. I've used it up as I don't like throwing things away but I'm glad it's gone!

Vatika Rosemary Conditioner - still on a quest to find a conditioner that doesn't have salt, silicone and is lightweight enough that it doesn't leave my hair greasy. Both my skin and scalp err on the oily side! Plus I have keratin treated hair so can't use products that have sulfates, silicones or salt in them. This was OK. I have a couple more bottles as it was on a cheap Amazon deal. Nothing amazing but I'll happily use the other bottles up.

Black Panther 3 in 1 shower gel, shampoo and conditioner - DD2 loves Black Panther and someone bought her this as part of her birthday present. It did the job but I wouldn't seek it out again.

81/100

ouai leave in conditioner, lovely and possibly a rebuy. Lightweight and effective.

dermalogica daily microfoliant, fabulous on my skin, one of my favourite new discoveries. Gentle yet effective.

le prunier plum beauty oil, fine but no different to any other beauty oil.

I've thrown away an Elizabeth Arden lipstick that could quite possibly have been over 15 years old, it had gone melty at some point. I've got loads of quite old lip products I should probably just chuck tbh.

Hoping to get a bit more makeup worn now we are heading out of allergy season!
