I’ve used the Cosrx propolis toner before, it’s really hydrating and made my skin feel lovely.

ememem84 · 02/05/2025 20:32

had A ridiculous shower earlier. Used up an oaty body scrub I was given before Christmas. It is just delicious. Locally made.

gave myself a proper scrub and clean. Becaude although we had a shower in the hotel is wasn’t my shower, you know?

Hopefully I will think the same.

Hopefully 😁

I've been a bit lax and fell off the thread, so here's my empties report for March/April:

Cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser: I love this cleanser and use it as the second step of a double cleanse, once I've removed my makeup with a cleansing balm. Cleans thoroughly but not drying, fragrance free and doesn't irritate my skin. Lasts months, I have another one on the go already.

Garnier ultimate blends honey conditioner: nice product, but I hated the packaging as the bottle is big and kept falling over in the shower. The shampoo comes in a refill pouch but the conditioner doesn't. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Living Proof no frizz styling cream: Nice enough but not remarkable, bit on the expensive side. Would RP if on offer.

Beauty Pie super active vitamin c capsules: had a weird silicone feel when applied that I didn't like, bought them thinking capsules would be good for travel but most of the time if I'm away for a couple of days I don't bother with serums and just simplify my routine. Didn't see significant results so won't repurchase.

Natural Collection hand wash: I love a refill pouch, this was a nice hand wash and it was good value.

Beauty of Joseon spf: has a lovely texture, really does feel as light as everyone says. Not convinced about the level of protection though; I wouldn't rely on it for a properly hot or sunny day. Great through autumn/winter.

Geek & Gorgeous A-Game: my second tube of this retinol, I've now moved on to the 0.1%. No irritation and my fine lines do seem reduced, great value as well.

Natural Collection aromatherapy roll-on: a did not finish! The scent faded really quickly and I couldn't see the point in it so gave up.

Johnsons baby powder: a summer essential, need to get more for the sweaty months ahead.

Dove advanced care pomegranate and verbena: smelled like sherbet, which was really nice, but competed with my perfume, I think I prefer less fragranced deodorants.

I've been really diligent the last couple of months and had very few new purchases come in, despite a trip through duty free (my biggest temptation). I am feeling the need for a little treat, but the stash is still so well stocked with pretty much everything that I don't think I need to!

Ren body serum - quite thin and a strange orange/yoghurt smell. Not for me.

Gisele Denis spf cream - loved it. Suited my skin really well. Would buy again.

Shay&blue Black tulip perfume - really liked it to begin with. Very simple plum scent.

Giorgio Armani Si Passione perfume sample - way too sweet.

Laura Mercier setting spray - awful. Sticky, pump broke and just not nice to use.

Ouai shower gel- lovely coconut scent.

Lancome Génifique minis - already have full size. Repeat purchase and probably will keep buying. I can definitely tell the difference when not using.

Weleda spot treatment - meh. Alcohol gel, basically.

w7 lip masks - really good for the price.Especially the Strawberry one.

Lancome eye cream - have multiple of these as well. Nice and light.

Origins tinted moisturiser- not really my thing. One of those colour changing ones.

Embroylisse cream - classic. As good as always.

Ouai leave in conditioner - Quite creamy. I prefer my purology.

Ouai oil - didn’t like it. Too heavy and the scent is definitely not for me (old floral).

I have an empty to report:

  • Arkive The Future Youth treatment mask: really like the smell (Future Bloom) but is no more than a conditioner - no lasting repair going on.

I am currently using the Pureology Color Fanatic leave in conditioner - which is lasting for ages as I only need a couple of sprays each time. Really like it - I think it has done a lot to improve the condition of my hair/stop me from damaging when brushing hair out when wet. I am starting to think what I replace it with... have any of you used the Aveda Cherry & Almond leave in conditioner? Or the Redken on? Or another that you really rate?

Forgot this. Not terribly rose or jasmine scented but a decent body oil.

27/100

@ITookYourJoob Embroylisse cream - classic. As good as always.

This is on my list of want to try.

I've got the Pureology leave in lined up to use next after seeing a lot of good reviews for it. It's not easy to find a really good one.

I don't rate the Ouai leave in - didn't feel it did much.

At the moment I'm using Davines - the scent took a bit of getting used to but I like it more than Ouai. I wouldn't say it was wow but it's fine.

I've also got Color Wow Money Mist to try which I think is a leave in.

Would be interested in trying out the SDJ one a some point.

My hair is in a rubbish state at the moment from the combo of weight loss and perimenopause so I've bought a couple of the hair edits recently in an attempt to find stuff that works. I've started using the K18 bonding treatment and I'm impressed with that so far.

ITookYourJoob · 03/05/2025 12:30

@OvaHere I remember all the hype around it when “all the models” used it 😁 It is good though, light and calming. Haven’t tried it is a makeup remover though.

@Experiment627 I have tried fair few and I’m afraid Blowout Professor was right. I currently have Redken All in One and some sort of Moroccan Oil leave in cream, but still think Colour fanatic is the best and use it all the time.

Experiment627 · 03/05/2025 19:20

@OvaHereI have tried K18 and think it can really help. That said I have the Aldi Lacura dupe and thay works well too!

Will look for the Aldi dupe. Thanks.

I'm chucking a Maybelline vinyl ink in Peppy, I think the colour has faded although it was never quite the right shade for me, it looks exactly the same colour as my natural lips now so pointless keeping.

OvaHere · 03/05/2025 21:46

Anua Heartleaf + Ceramide - Another mask. First time using this one, very impressed with it.

My skin was flaring up a bit red and irritated this evening so thought I'd try this one out. Left it on for about 20-30 minutes and not only did it massively take down the redness my skin feels so soft and hydrated.

If you're a fellow member of the dry, irritated club then you'll probably love this too.

CorneliaStreet · 04/05/2025 09:01

@Experiment627 The Aveda Cherry and almond is my favourite of the leave ins I’ve tried. Added bonus is it smells gorgeous. There was something nostalgic about it so I think it must smell like some hair product I used to use, but no idea what!

Experiment627 · 04/05/2025 10:22

@ITookYourJoob I do like the Blowout Professor but was vair disappointed by his own brand shampoo and conditioner.

@OvaHere have you any idea what caused the flare up? I have been suffering from itchy body skin for months... I have tried eliminating/changing things in my routine in case my skin was reacting to something but no joy and the itching is driving me mad - often waking me in the night. Anyhoo I guess the time has come to see GP (again) about it.

@CorneliaStreet thanks for letting me know - I am going to go ahead and get this one as the smell sounds right up my street! I wonder if you are being reminded of the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner from the 1980s (you are probably too young for this) but they smelled of almond and were hamazing.

Yes. I have rosacea which can be triggered by certain foods. Chorizo being one of them, but I like it so had a bit in an omelette. Entirely my own doing!

Experiment627 · 04/05/2025 10:54

@OvaHere I love a bit of Chorizo too! The thing is I have not really changed anything in my lifestyle... or at least the things I did change I stopped again and saw no difference to the itchiness. I wonder if I have developed a new allergen... or maybe it is hormonal related. I got attacked by fleas over Christmas - and these bites still intermittently itch but I have got more itchiness that seems to keep switching locations... really annoying!

OP posts:
OvaHere · 04/05/2025 11:08

@Experiment627 I think itching can be a perimenopause symptom - don't know if that applies to you? It can be really difficult to pinpoint if it's an environmental or food allergy though. Best of luck with figuring it out.

Experiment627 · 04/05/2025 11:20

Thanks @OvaHere I have wondered if perhaps I have developed an intolerance to the oestrogen gel or testosterone I slap on every day... I am going to make an appt with my GP - maybe I can try switching back to patches for a while and see if that helps. it could also be that I need to up my dose... feels like the perimenopause lasts forever and what is SO fing annoying is that my periods are still as painful and heavy as when I first started having them age 11 (am 50 now!).

Experiment627 · 04/05/2025 11:20

Not at all. I'm 49 and it's all so difficult to navigate so I totally get it. I'm leaning towards it sounding hormonal so maybe a good idea to go back and look at dosage or delivery method.

Experiment627 · 04/05/2025 13:08

Thanks @OvaHere I agree - that will be my next port of call

Perimenopause ladies. I’m there with you. As part of my cancer treatment I’m on hormone blockers. Which is causing me to early menopause at 40. Ooooof.

finished a travel size Clarins night cream. I love this. It’s soft and smooth and feels delicious.

MrsBnow12 · 05/05/2025 21:02

Another peri menopause here, I got itchy skin and ended up taking a antihistamine every day to help me. I am fortunate and have no allergies so was put down to meno. Thank goodness it has eased now and I have stopped taking them.
