@R00tat00tt00t I've nearly finished a sample of SR Auto Correct. I also really like it. I feel like it does something although I can't quite put my finger on what. I think I have a 2nd sample in my stash so will be digging that out pronto.

OvaHere · 05/02/2025 10:53

Just remembered I tried a one use sample of Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm last night. I've been wanting to try this for a while and managed to get a sample from Space NK when buying a gift.

Overall I was impressed, the texture is lovely and it emulsified like butter. It's a little bit on the fragranced side but it's definitely on the maybe purchase list. Due to the fragrance I don't think it beats my current favourite which is Tatcha and it's only a couple of £ cheaper. If it was £10 -£15 cheaper I would consider replacing Tatcha.

Fraaahnces · 05/02/2025 11:17

I forgot another empty. Dariya-Fukemin U Medicated Scalp Cleansing Gel. I wouldn’t use it every time I was my hair, but it’s supposed to help with hair growth and root health. It smells great. Very citrus/menthol and it feels cooling even while under hot water. Weird.

Fraaahnces · 06/02/2025 13:31

@OvaHere I am very keen to try Then I Met You’s new moisturiser, but by the time I can get it to Aus it’s insanely expensive. Sounds lovely.

@OvaHere I was just looking at these on the Space NK website and the Then I met you balm is much bigger as well as being cheaper than Tatcha.

The Tatcha balm is 54g for £40
The TIMY balm is 90g for £38. If the TIMY balm was the same size as the Tatcha balm it would cost £23 so gram for gram is almost half the price of the Tatcha balm.

January empties

Strivectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream Plus 7ml – I bought a whole beauty box on this product. What a bad idea! I’ve had Strivectin before and it was great. This wasn’t. It was a nightmare to rub in. Like hard coconut oil. Do not recommend.

Garnier Ambre Solaire Hydra 24 protect SPF50+ 200ml – A standard for me. Works really well with my skin.

Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins 15mls – Would happily buy again, but I have loads of other products.

Gatineau Age Benefit Intensive Neck and Decollete 50ml – oh this was utterly gorgeous! I have another brand in use and two others to be used, but I think I’ll buy this again at some point.

BeautyPro Retinol Sheet Mask – loved this, but I don’t need to buy anymore masks

Emma Hardie Midas Touch Revitalising Eye Serum 15ml – loved this, but as I have another 8 (!) eye serums, plus another 2 currently in use, I’ll potentially buy this again in 2034

BeautyPro Heated Eye Mask – I use these a lot and it’s the only mask of any kind that I am repurchasing. Very relaxing

Clinique Happy Eau de Toilette 100ml – I’ve been making a concerted effort to use up my perfumes when I realised how many I actually have! I have a 30ml one still.

8/200. My target for February is to use up another perfume and to use up some of my many face masks!

This is weird, I cant work out how to put on a photo. Its only giving me an option to add a GIF. Is it just me?

Thanks. That's a good point. I might buy it then when I've used all current balms up which realistically could be 2 years away. 😆

@Choux I follow Charlotte Cho the founder of TIMY on YouTube. She’s amazing. Has been working in KBeauty biz for many years for such a young person

3 empties this week so the 2025 tally is now 8.

Sunday Riley CEO Afterglow vit c moisturize - it's a luminous yellow but smells nice. However I also had a sample of a Lumene vit c moisturizer. I liked both but the Lumene is £30 for a 50ml pot and the Sunday Riley is £60. I can't justify the extra spend when am happy with the Lumene one.

Miller Harris - Poirier d'un Soir. I liked it but think it's more of a masculine scent so wouldn't buy it for myself.

Guerlain lipstick. Well this is annoying. A friend gave me the case and a lipstick a couple of years ago as a gift so I have been treating myself to £35 lipstick refills - it looks nice in my handbag but I only use it when out and about because £35 for a lipstick is insane. But now they have redesigned the case and the refills so my case is obsolete. To get a new case and lipstick would be £67. Just no. (The case I like best is out of stock anyway because everyone who has an old style case now needs to rebuy it). I replaced it with en ELF one that I got free as I bought a Halo glow filter and mascara which I needed anyway. From a £35 💄 to a free 💄 in one week!

What annoys me about buying a case separate to the lipstick is these people care nothing about the environment but all about taking more money from the consumer. I was in one of those discounted make up stores (high end stuff) in Portsmouth and they sold Clarins lipstick but you had to buy the lipstick and case separately so no I did not buy them! May be ok if you have a favourite lipstick colour that you always buy but you can bet your life they would soon stop producing it!!

Experiment627 · 07/02/2025 13:29

@R00tat00tt00t that Murad cleanser is a fave with me. Leaves my skin feeling HAMAZING!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 08/02/2025 21:18

@choux and @Deathraystare I treated myself recently to the newest limited edition case by Guerlain and I planned on using it with one of the refills I already had from last year.
My heart sank when I realised that the new model does not fit with older refills and it made me quite angry, as the design is the same but they changed the upper part so that they don’t slot into place.

Bastards! Their commitment to nature statements are just for show as this really shows their true colours

CorneliaStreet · 09/02/2025 10:48

Empties:

Farmacy Green Clean cleansing balm - 50ml. Last one of these in the stash. It’s my favourite cleansing balm but the Heimish version is very similar and much cheaper, so I’ll probably just get that from now on. Using a Banila one at the moment that is great too.

Q&A oat milk cleanser - 75ml. Very thick and creamy. Feels lovely and calming on the skin but it’s quite hard to wash off, washcloth needed really.

Jorgobe scrub mask - 100ml. The instructions say to leave this on for 10 to 15 minutes, but it made my skin tingle just using it as a wash off exfoliator in the shower. It’s got menthol in and that always feels really tingly on me when it’s in lip balms. Did leave my skin soft but not as much as the Murad exfoliating cleanser does.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream - 15ml plus a sample sachet. Too heavy for my skin type, left it feeling greasy.

Burts Bees lip balm in Dragonfruit Lemon.

Nuxe body oil - 10ml. I’m not really a fan of body oils. It did smell lovely though.

Lush Hot Toddy shower gel - 275g. Lots of clove and cinnamon in this. I’d hate the scent in a perfume but it was actually really good in a shower gel (during winter, would be awful in summer). Lush shower gels all feel lovely on the skin.

Organic Shop Caramel Cappuccino body cream - 450ml. Good lotion formula but the scent was a bit much. There were complaints that the upstairs of the house smelled like a branch of Costa 😂

Perfume samples - Kenzo Flower (powdery floral, not my thing), Elie Saab Elixir (floral/amber, ok but not one I’d buy) and Goldfield & Banks Silky Woods (liked this, spicy and warm vanilla).

That Guerlain lipstick debacle sounds awful! What a rip off!

I have an empty:

  • Aveeno apple cider vinegar blend shampoo: was ok on my oily roots and dry ends. Is NOT a dupe for the Ouai detox shampoo - which actually is great every once in a while but too stripping for every wash use. Anyhoo this was ok but have found a much cheaper alternative which I actually prefer.
OP posts:
BeFluentNavyBee · 09/02/2025 20:00

Ooh @Experiment627 would you mind saying what the cheaper alternative is please?

Choux · 10/02/2025 07:48

Yes the Guerlain case and lipstick debacle is especially annoying as the new case doesn't look any different or have any extra functionality. It has a G which is in a different font which is the only visible change. Yet they changed something inside so all the existing ones can no longer be used with new refills. I am close to boycotting the entire brand but they do have some lovely perfumes so I haven't mentally done that yet!

3 empties this week:

Gatineau collagen eye pads - very wet and slippery. Stung a tiny bit as drying / shrinking. Impact pretty negligible I feel. Got another pack and will use it but only because I hate waste.

Sunday Riley 15% vitamin c brightening serum. Nice smell but not a 'must repurchase product'. Nothing from a vitamin c range will ever tip the Body Shop Vit C brightening serum / primer for me it seems. I loved that!

Lumene Nordic Overnight cream - nice enough but I have so many face creams to get through that I doubt I will remember it when I finally need to purchase more.

13/100

The whole reusable packaging thing is just virtue-signaling by brands. I saw an influencer complaining about an eyeshadow palette refil from Victoria Beckham being unusable in her old case as it wouldn’t close. Infuriating

Thank you very much, am always on the look out for a shampoo to sort my oily mop!

OvaHere · 10/02/2025 20:51

A few more empties

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask - this is okay, makes my hair feel quite nice but I really dislike the scent. Not one I would buy.

Kerastase Genesis Shampoo and Conditioner - Only got one use out of these but I'm not keen. I've tried a few Kerastase S&C now and they never do much for me. Always seem to leave my hair a bit limp. I know other people rate them though so maybe it's a me thing.

Sunday Riley Auto Correct eye cream - As I mentioned up thread I like this a lot. I have a second sample size to use up but probably will purchase at some point.

New here!
Bare with if this isn’t how things are done on here but…

Empties:
La Roche Posay Ultra Light Suncream
Elemis Pro Collagen (would love a cheap alternative though, any suggestions?)
Monderma monthly formula (my tret go to, if anyone has a promo let me know!?)
Anyone have a recommendation for an anti frizz hair product for post shower, that doesn’t weigh down hair too much??

OvaHere · 10/02/2025 22:09

@GFlower

Aldi released a pro collagen dupe line just before Xmas but as always with Aldi what stock still remains and whether it returns is hit and miss.

For anti frizz I've started using this below. I've only used it twice so far but I'm enjoying it.
