My first empties of the year:

1) Fabriqu Safe Conditioner - Good but pricey for what it is

2) Bramley conditioner - Didn't like this. You need use loads to get any conditioning effect. Not really a fan of Bramley products in general

3) Iconic London Mascara - quite liked this. It doesn't give panda eyes, but it does tend to flake off after few hours so found I had to reapply during the day, which I don't usually do with other mascaras.

4) Dermalogica biolumin-c serum - quite liked this, but not enough to RP

5) Costa Brazil Jungle Oil - left my skin really soft, but wouldn't pay full price. Found it difficult to get out and didn't notice any firming effect.

6) Barbara Sturm Face Cream - nice enough, but again, not special considering her prices

7) Decree eye Mask - meh

Finished Shiseido Fino Shampoo & Conditioner. Had already finished one shampoo so the conditioner is almost exactly 50/50. Love the product, but over the scent. It’s very strong and quite overwhelming for a Japanese product. I’ll get it again if the new bits don’t work for me. Have already purchased some Tsubaki Shampoo & Conditioner to try, so keeping the bottles. I love that you can purchase refills in packaging (thermal bags) that has much less landfill effect. I have two different sets (BOGOF) so trying the lighter one first as it’s summer here.

Welcome @GFlower !!!
A fave budget cleansing balm for me is the Superdrug B. one. I am also using a W7 one (peachy) which is quite nice.
I have tried so MANY products for anti-frizz. I have oily roots so it is really important they do not make that worse. Love Pantene Instant Frizz Tamer, Love Loreal Elvive Glycolic Gloss leave jn serum. Both need to be used sparingly.

I’ll try these, thanks so much. I’ve also got oily roots. Have you heard about low porosity hair? I’ve been wondering if that’s my issue

Experiment627 · 11/02/2025 12:21

@GFlower I have heard about it but not sure I fully understand it. What I do - to differing levels of success - is use a "scalp specific" shampoo - so one for oily roots and then a conditioner or treatment that addresses my over processed lengths. I also cut my hair quite regularly (by my own fair hand 😳). I am currently giving K18 a go... will share my thoughts once it is an empty.

16/100

LA Bruket body lotion, I liked the sage/rosemary/lavender scent but it was a pain to rub in and also to use the lady of the bottle.

Kat Burki, vitamin C intensive face cream. Love this, gorgeous easily absorbed texture and properly moisturising without being greasy.

Kate Somerville cleanser, I'll snip this to finish off the dregs tonight. It's an effective cleanser but nothing above and beyond so many others. Non drying and gentle.

Cien dry shampoo - cheap and cheerful, does a good enough job for me. I had a coupon for a free cien hair product a couple of weeks ago, so got another.

Mitchum deodorant - this was good, I'm a fan. I have already bought another in a different scent.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion essence mist - fine, but I'd be as happy with a cheaper one. I have another in my stash that I got as a gwp so will use that up next.

Malin and Goetz grapefruit cleanser - wasn't a massive fan of this, definitely prefer others. So won't be a future purchase for me.

Post mastectomy, I started using Mitchum gel deoderant as their others just seemed too perfumed and not as effective as previously. It takes a while to dry (bit sticky for a good 5 mins) but smells of....nothing! Keeps me dry and odour free.

Oops, I kind of fell off the thread! I haven't had many empties since Christmas, so this is my Jan/Feb roundup:

Aussie Calm the Frizz conditioner: nice, my hair seems to like it, would RP on offer.
Origins GinZing glow boosting serum: a did not finish! I have a family member who often gives Origins as a gift, but I might have to ask them to stop 😬like all Origins this has fragrance, and for some reason, menthol in it. Who wants menthol in their skincare?! Didn't seem to be doing anything for my skin after 6 weeks, so I'm giving it to my mum.
Geek & Gorgeous happier barrier: my fave moisturiser, have RPd
Origins Clear Improvement mask: maybe the only Origins product I'd RP at this time? Unfragranced! And works well at keeping blackheads at bay without upsetting my skin.
Sali Hughes Placid 5-acid daily exfoliant: I use this a couple of times a week, EOD rather than daily. Nice gentle exfoliant, doesn't sting as much as some, doesn't leave my skin sticky. RPd as I found it reduced to clear in Superdrug.
M&S Pure rose cleansing balm: love this stuff. Smells great, really effective at removing makeup, perfect for a double cleanse. @GFlower I'd recommend this one! All the M&S cleansing balms have similar ingredients lists (mostly sweet almond oil) so I think the main difference between them is the scent. Trying the apothecary range one next.
Garnier ultimate blends honey shampoo: nice enough, I love a refill pouch, inexpensive.

Salvadore Ferragamo Signorina - very inoffensive, light. Was a gift, would not buy myself.

Clinique Happy perfume - full mini, can’t stand the smell.

Ariana Grande perfume - not fully used but I’ve had enough - sickly sweet.

Colorsport brow tint - recommended by @Experiment627 . Great results! Would buy again.

Boots cucumber face wash - also recommended by Experiment. Loved it - cheap and cleansed well. Will buy again.

Farmacy Honey Halo - my second jar. Loooved it. Have to finish some other creams but this was perfect for my skin😍

Nars Light reflecting primer - I used it together with my Nars light reflecting foundation and it worked well. I normally don’t use base of any sort though.

Elizabeth Arden capsules - pure silicone. Didn’t like them.

Fenty Beaty cherry face scrub - nop. Thick and doesn’t really do anything just slides around.

Noughty conditioner- very nice! Seemed to agree with my hair well.

@Lifestooshort71 har you tried Wild deodorant? I really like them. That said my cousin said they made her stink worse than just BO - but Fussy worked well - and for me made me stink.

@Experiment627 I also tried the Olia hair dye and had the same issue - felt like it left product in my hair even after thoroughly rinsing it. Shame I can’t get to Superdrug easily, would like to try some of the other products too.

ememem84 · 15/02/2025 12:28

Empties:

Glow recipe watermelon toner - mini
three small face creams
soltan spf factor 50
Clarins mini face wash
shampoo bar
two mini toothpastes
Clinique take the day off balm
soap and glory berry body butter
Clarins mini body lotion

all used up whilst on holidays

Experiment627 · 15/02/2025 17:35

@ITookYourJoob sorry about that. I used Clairol Lasting Colour last time I dyed my roots and that worked ok. I want to try the Clairol Strong one soon.

I tried a sheet mask last night (which has a good few uses left): Freemans sleepy time sheet mask. Really, really nice - my skin felt amazeballs after. I am not sure if this has been discontinued and actually not sure how it made its way to me!

@Experiment627 I watched your video about shampoo for oily roots. Really helpful, thank you. I’ve already got the Head & Shoulders one in the cupboard waiting to go and the Tresemme one was in my Amazon basket after seeing a recommendation in the Sunday Times or somewhere.

I finished the Aveeno one of long ago and, like you, wasn’t that impressed.

Experiment627 · 15/02/2025 22:10

@CorneliaStreet 💜💜💜 thanks for watching xxx

A few more ..

Sunday Riley B nice serum, was fine.
Fortnums Christmas hand wash. Wasn’t that fragrant, not worth the cost.
Molton Brown Davana Blossom body wash. Lovely siting fragrance. Violet tones - mild, not too old lady (although I think I probably am).
Aveda hand cream. I like it but not as good as l’occitane. I’ve a bigger version to use up before I can go back to my favourite.

8/80

@Lifestooshort71 I've never noticed the gel one before, might give it a go after I use up what I have Smile

@Motherwol ooh I really like that shampoo but didn't know they did refill pouches, good to know!

Fraaahnces · 17/02/2025 15:22

Just popping in to state that the Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo & conditioner is superior to the Fino range IMO. So pleased I swapped it out. The scent is so much nicer and my hair is shiny and soft. Love.

@Fraaahnces I've just received some of the Fino to try. I'll try the Tsubaki next time.

One empty to report.

Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser - only a travel size but it took ages to finish this because I kept swapping out for cleansers I liked better. It cleans just fine and isn't drying but overall is a bit meh. I like a bit of fragrance to products so this smelt a bit like soggy paper to me. Not one I would RP.

Some reports to make:

  • L'Oreal Elvive Glycolic Gloss shampoo & conditioner: not completely amazing but want a friend to try so am paying forward. I love these! This whole range is excellent IMO.
  • L'Oreal Elvive Bond Repair leave in serum: the GG one is better so will pay this one forward too as bathroom is looking vair cluttered
  • Avon Anew skin renewal power cream: got this in a goodie bag - really nice and rich.
  • Baylis & Harding Hyaluronic Acid hand wash: LOVE this! Smells amazing! I have switched to soap but am already tired of the soap scum! So will likely move back to a hand wash soon.
  • Odylique lavender essential oil: love this

Well timed reviews @Experiment627. I need some new shampoo and have been using Aussie for ages. I may try the L'Oréal GG - a bit of gloss is never a bad thing!

Experiment627 · 20/02/2025 10:54

@Choux if you do try - let me know how you got on! Someone said - I forget who and where - that the leave in serum has glitter in it - that has not been my experience at all!
