Space NK Christmas Crackers are available to order, I have ordered the lip one…although really don’t need any more makeup products.
https://www.spacenk.com/uk/brands/s/space-nk

I just bought the Hair Care heroes one. It looks great 😊

MrsBnow12 · 29/10/2024 07:47

@ACAC2023 I ended up getting both the Lip and Haircare one in the end, prefer the products in these ones over both Next and John Lewis crackers

shinny · 29/10/2024 08:10

I’ve just got JL box as was so excited looking at the products as many I’d buy anyway. Not got an AC as have so much to use up plus have just snapped up AB rich cream off Vinted for a bargainous £20.

I was explaining AC mindset to my DH and the £2 a day idea for M&S justification among others and how it’s so fun to buy several and share stories etc. He was not quite getting it I must say! I love thé chat and sharing in what everyone’s got or trying not to get 😊

I had to go and look John Lewis crackers after your comment and just seen they did a coffee crème quality street cracker which is sold out 😭😭😭😭 I still dream about the original coffee sweets from roses years ago the wee cups wrapped in foil and the strawberry ones wrapped in foil x

@IlovePond omg I hadn’t seen anything about talc and am gutted to see that 2 of my stalwarts/ bobbi brown bronzer and urban decay eyeshadow contain it🙁. Really shocking and now, like you, binning those products and on the lookout for non talc ones. If anyone has any suggestions for a great eyeshadow set and or bronzer I’d be really grateful! Thanks

IlovePond · 29/10/2024 08:57

Thanks for that link @Obsessedwithsourdough

@Waffles21 - I am really fed up - I have tons of stuff🙀. I have bought so much recently and am now wishing I had thought more about chemicals, etc.

Someone on here recommended Ciate products. By coincidence I found a sample size cream blusher from Ciate in my stash recently that I have been using up. I quite like it.

I wish H&B sold make up - that would make it easier for me to make wiser choices moving forward!

Of course, I am currently sitting on industrial quantities of make up and skincare and I must use it up. I seem to have acquired dozens of lipsticks, for example🙀

I noticed the Lumene product in the JL cracker - that looked quite good and potentially relatively natural. I might look more into that brand at some point.

MrsBnow12 · 29/10/2024 09:04

@Twinsandsome I wish you hadn’t said that as they are my favourites. Closest selection box I have found is the M&S Big Mix, it has both a coffee and strawberry in it. The box makes it look smaller than a tub but it is on par at 650g.

IlovePond · 29/10/2024 09:08

Now I want chocolate too🙀

AprilLady · 29/10/2024 09:08

That link is overstates the risks and claims things are true that are very far from proven. See https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-cancer/cancer-myths/cosmetics
for a more balanced view from a reputable source. I wouldn’t use talc down below, but I’m certainly not throwing out all my make up that contains it.

Can cosmetics cause cancer?

There is no good evidence that chemicals in products like cosmetics or deodorants could raise cancer risk.

Can you take one for the team and buy and try them and report back if the M&S are as nostalgic as I am remembering from those lovely foil sweets all them years ago out of an actual tin tin that smelt amazing everytime you opened it awwwwww xx

IlovePond · 29/10/2024 09:22

I know there’s a middle ground @AprilLady - thanks for that link - it’s very helpful. As I said earlier the skincarisma site also says talc is safe, but it’s great for listing ingredients.

I certainly don’t want to start wholesale chucking out. I just want personally, to be a bit more aware moving forward.

On a related note: I am embarrassed to say, that when I had heard people going on about ‘clean beauty’ I hadn’t really realised what it meant. I had a nice chat with the lovely girl in SpaceNK the other day about it. She recommended Ilia and Glossier products, btw.

However, I believe ‘clean beauty’ can also be a minefield- I need to learn more.

Apologies all. Didn’t mean to bring the thread down - I was just surprised that talc, (something I do choose personally to avoid where possible), is in so much!

Waitrose sell the coffee cream quality street crackers .

Gunnersforthecup · 29/10/2024 09:31

I still have stuff from previous goodie boxes so I think I am going to spend the money on exploring new exercise/ dance options 😊tempted though I am

I’m in NI and we don’t have any Waitrose I’d love one over here x

Arr, that's a shame.

I think you need to dig a lot deeper than this.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 29/10/2024 09:44

Pond do you follow James Welsh on YT? He's done some interesting videos sleting on clean beauty. Seems to have particular ire for Jessica Alba as an example Grin. But your right, just a minefield really and if you have reactive skin

Can I ask why? Cancer Research is going by current reputable scientific understanding. They have no investment in offering false reassurance?

Thelifeofawife · 29/10/2024 09:53

I’m very impressed with myself for not being tempted by the cracker offerings. The Space NK lip cracker looks good, if I was to get any it would be that, but I have a few similar products in my AC’s so I’ll be good

IlovePond · 29/10/2024 09:54

Thanks @tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz - will look into it.

IlovePond · 29/10/2024 09:55

Those SpaceNK crackers and JL are very pretty @Thelifeofawife !

I haven’t paid much attention to Lumene so far, but that highlighter looks nice.

AprilLady · 29/10/2024 09:59

@Obsessedwithsourdough a more in depth link https://amp.cancer.org/cancer/risk-prevention/chemicals/talcum-powder-and-cancer.html explains the evidence in more detail but essentially comes to the same conclusion: use in the genital area could be linked to ovarian cancer but no other links with cancer have been shown in humans who use cosmetics with asbestos free talc (which is what is used in make up).

Twinsandsome · 29/10/2024 10:37

I’ve just received an email about space nks GWP starting tomorrow for over £250 spend.

EachandEveryone · 29/10/2024 10:42

Gosh it’s a lot of spend

psuedocream3 · 29/10/2024 10:50

@Twinsandsome I didn't get an email, could you possibly post the picture please?
