I'm glad I ordered the John Lewis with the £10 discount I had in the MyJL account; it' sold out quite quickly this year.

My HN fragrance has just arrived. My husband has checked it for me, so it's going upstairs now until xmas day.

I'm very surprised that with so many calendars selling out so quickly this year, Liberty is still available. I wonder if they produce their calendar in much greater quantities than the others.

I'm not at all surprised that Liberty hasn't sold out. I think that it's one of the weakest luxury calendars this year.

It's fine for advent calendar newbies, but for people who have been buying calandras for a few years, it is just full of repeat products.

It also has two eye creams, two mini candles, pillow mist and black eyeliner which I personally find off putting, and I think will be pretty unpopular choices. Also that minuscule 9ml AA bath oil, when other calendars are giving the full size. Not great for a £260 calendar.

It's got a nice selection of fragrances and a couple of nice makeup bits, but I think the rest is disappointing for people who have been buying calendars for a while.

Thank you for the new thread.
I have 5 various calendars now and don't need anything else but this is interesting from Code 8. 23 products I think I counted so could fill a diy calendar.

I'm not surprised Liberty hasn't sold out either, tbh. I've had it previously, including last year's, and this one just doesn't rate compared to previous years.

MidnightMeltdown · 18/10/2024 17:41

I think that Look Fantastic has sold out - my prediction was correct! 🔮

MidnightMeltdown · 18/10/2024 17:45

Thinking maybe Sephora will sell out next

Sephora now says it will despatch 1st December

The Korres one is all really small sizes - 40ml of body lotion, none are full size. All the good stuff is 4ml or 6ml samples for £90

52crumblesofautumn · 18/10/2024 18:09

I do love Korres - but a company that always has deals on their website or if you sign up to the email.

I've only had beauty advent calendars for the last two years, and have only had Jo Malone or Jo loved before so I don't suppose I've experienced the repeat items like some other people. I also ruled several calendars out because of the high proportion of makeup and nail varnish - I'm very very set in my ways with the makeup I wear, and am allergic to nail varnish, and Liberty seemed to have fewer of these items.

I hope it's better next year. I joined the Beauty Drop in part so I have savings for a high end one next year. That's the risk though, that you'll prefer another brand when they come out. I suppose in that event I could always use the vouchers for xmas presents. I am enjoying the BD so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

MyStylish40s · 18/10/2024 18:53

I don’t think there will be anything left for Black Friday reductions

MidnightMeltdown · 18/10/2024 19:08

I think F&M is pretty good and that's still in stock, but it does have the dreaded pillow mist, scrunchie, makeup bag and mini candles!

I think younger people in particular, will go for Sephora out of what's left.

IlovePond · 18/10/2024 19:31

Hi, well I’ve been to Bicester and am now en route north.

Bargains spotted:

Clarins 12 day calendar- Clarins outlet. £70 but more off if you spend £100+, £200+ with Bicester VIP card
Penhaligons 2023 advent: £198 and they will deliver to online customers. 20% discount on most things - not calendar, if you have the Bicester card.
L’Occitane - last year’s calendars available at £54 and £104. Further discounts as Clarins.
Shiseido advent - 30% off £172, (which brings it in line with what they are selling it for in Europe), at one of the perfume/skincare shops. That one has come with me!
Rituals: 2022 calendar: £60, 2023 calendar £125 for the luxury one - I was tempted by that, but I have the 2022 Rituals for this year already!

I then disgraced myself by spending money on the Boots site to get the summer box! In my defence, Boots are also doing 3 4 2 on Clinique, so it would have been rude not to 😹

CocoMascara · 18/10/2024 19:49

@IlovePond Thanks for the Bicester info. An extra 20 off Penhaligons is great, and I didn’t realise there was a Shiseido there. I’m going up next week, can’t wait!

IlovePond · 18/10/2024 19:59

@CocoMascara - I’ll find the name of the store later and post again.

To get the discount, sign up for the Bicester card.

The sales assistant gave me a couple of samples too, so that makes me feel a bit better about missing out on the Shiseido GEP.

IlovePond · 18/10/2024 20:00

Btw, thanks @virgocatlover for the Boots box info!

Caramelandsalt · 18/10/2024 20:03

Damn I'm feeling really sad about my Liberty calendar now. I didn't check the contents as I like the surprise.

EachandEveryone · 18/10/2024 20:10

I’m sad about it too as I bought it for my sister who has never had one before. I really wanted her to enjoy the luxury now I feel as if I’ve wasted money I haven’t got ☹️

It depends on what you want in a calendar. For me, it had far more things that I will use than any of the other multi brand calendars, apart from maybe Harrods, but I found it hard to choose between the two and wanted to use my beauty drop credit.

IlovePond · 18/10/2024 20:12

@CocoMascara I got the Shiseido calendar from Beaute Prestige International - it’s on the row of shops down the side by the exit closest to the overflow car park. Next to Farmhouse Kitchen restaurant.

marshmallowmix · 18/10/2024 20:14

I wanted the JL one but it sold out so quick…within a few hours of me getting the email. Will it come in stock again?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 18/10/2024 20:18

Checking in 😊

Checking in for the new thread, thank you!

It might not be everyone's cup of tea but I appreciate these threads as I genuinely have no-one IRL who shares this passion.

Me also. Grin

Growlybear83 · 18/10/2024 20:20

I just looked through the contents of the Liberty calendar again and there are only four things I definitely won't use, all makeup, which is far less than any of the others I looked at. It's really good value for me, whereas others wouldn't be. It just depends on what items you want.
