Thanks @LivinInYourBigGlassHouseWithAView and @IlovePond

but I have glossy box in my basket, I’ve never ordered from that site before, and I worry that I’m entering a subscription if I order, because there are 2 free trials also added to my basket that I don’t want.

LivinInYourBigGlassHouseWithAView · 26/10/2024 12:07

@MyStylish40s You're not tied into anything with Glossybox. I got it again for my teenage daughter this year; she loved last year's. You're not tied into anything as it's a one off item purchase. You can just remove the free trials from your basket or decline them.

It's a very pretty box this year; already peeked at it.

Sephora still showing as in stock?
But mad so many have sold out and we are still in October.
Think they have underestimated demand this year.

Hmmm... it's showing as out of stock for me. But it does say 'temporarily out of stock' so they might be expecting more.

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 12:10

I got the Drunk Elephant Aldi dupes for £4.99. I didn’t see the serum or the warming masks though. In my branch they were on the shelves with the main skincare offers. They had some other stuff in the centre aisle but nothing exciting.

MrsBnow12 · 26/10/2024 12:10

@MyStylish40s There is also a £10 off code for Glossybox…think it is PAULA10 or a number of influencers have codes. That one is from Beauty Advent website x

IDontHateRainbows · 26/10/2024 12:11

My teen got the Next advent box ( the £90 one not the more expensive luxury one

Think they are still in stock.

Seems OK for the price

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/10/2024 12:11

Damn. So I decided to cave and get the JML advent with the free goodie bag ... while still showing on the banner goodie bag is actually out of stock. Disappointed.

So I've saved myself £55 I guess!

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 12:12

I signed up for a rolling Glossybox sub to get the money off as it’s a present for DD. She’ll love the box every month.

Yes! I used one of those codes as well but couldn't remember which one. And they work! :)

IlovePond · 26/10/2024 12:46

Ah yes, @Doubleraspberry - I meant to say:

In Thirsk Aldi, the serums and DE dupes were in the SpecialBuys aisle, together with the sleep masks.

In another one I went to, (Catterick Garrison, I think), the DE dupes and serum and caviar cream were on the main shelves under ‘premium beauty’, but the eye masks, sleep oil, (that’s VERY nice), and the plumping moisturiser were in the SpecialBuys aisle.

Where these lovely items are displayed would seem to vary from store to store, (weirdly!)

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 12:47

I may need to check out the riches of Thirsk Aldi!

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 12:47

The sleep oil was in mine but I find oils in general make my skin itch so I avoid them.

IlovePond · 26/10/2024 12:50

It was a treasure trove of skincare delight the other day @Doubleraspberry !

Yes, oils can be hit and miss for me too. I was willing to have a go due to the reasonable prices- I have shelled out big bucks before for things that reacted with my skin 😿

I have just looked through my stash again to strengthen my resolve not to do any more shopping!

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 12:52

I have a free afternoon so will see whether DH can be persuaded into a tiny trip to Thirsk.

IlovePond · 26/10/2024 12:54

I hope it’s all still there @Doubleraspberry 🤞I was there on Thursday night and they had lots then.

On a separate note: I really enjoyed visiting Thirsk and the surrounding areas- when I wasn’t in Aldi, we did a lot of exploring!

Addictedtobeauty · 26/10/2024 13:03

Amazed that John Lewis is still showing as in stock atm. Makes me think they are releasing stock in batches to generate sales. I have definitely bought more this year than normal because of the FOMO factor when calendars are OOS. I then buy in a panic when they reappear. I don’t regret any of them, although I do think I need help!

It’s a beautiful part of the world!

Vogue is clearly not selling well- I’ve had several emails pushing it over the past few weeks. Another arrived just now. Initially, this was my going to be my one purchase this year. When they released the contents, it was just not appealing for the price- way too many DOD. I’m still not at all tempted, it would need to be a very hefty discount to pique my interest. Last years (that I didn’t buy) seemed much better to me.

Pinenu · 26/10/2024 13:08

@Addictedtobeauty you’re in very good company here!

I thought I’d been really good this year but as my H was leaving earlier, I asked him to wait 5 mins as I needed to speak to him (about the garden) and he responded “is it about advent calendars?” with a pained look on his face.

I think that they release in batches because there's a limit to how many they can physically dispatch at once. It's either that, or keep them permanently on 'pre-order' and make people wait for delivery. They must sell thousands.

Vogue have really messed up. I'd be hesitant about paying £200 for it, let alone £355.

They were arrogant thinking that they could put unsellable fillers in a £355 calendar and sell it under the 'Vogue' name.

This made me laugh! My H is totally resigned to my habit. Doesn't understand it, but accepts. I try to justify the spend all the time and recognise the pained expression along with quiet amusement that anyone could possibly even attempt to justify buying so many.

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 26/10/2024 13:34

I wondered if vogue were trying to appeal to different people this year? There's a few high priced items so I guess if you were going to buy them anyway then the calendar would attract.
There's certainly been a few posters on here that have purchased it so it is appealing to some

Monpetitchoumonpetitepois · 26/10/2024 13:40

It'll be interesting to know how many were made and how many have sold. Last year the packaging stated which number it was and out of how many. I posted mine at the time but I name change alot

Doubleraspberry · 26/10/2024 13:48

Last year loads of us were yearning for the Vogue calendar. This year, very little discussion of it.
