I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

@Lurkingshark yes, I blind bought it as it’s definitely discontinued and only available from perfume discount sites. At the Look Incredible price, I’d expect you’d get your money back if you tried it, decided it wasn’t for you and resold on eBay.

AprilLady · 01/12/2024 11:12

Well, the Cheirosa 62 put me in the mood for something gourmand so I’m wearing Bond No 9 New York Nights. Quite a unique combination of floral, salted caramel, coffee, patchouli. Banana is not listed as a note but I can see what lots of Fragrantica reviews say this smells like banana bread. Probably too young and sweet for me, but I really enjoy it so tend to wear it on days I’m expecting to be mostly at home.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 11:28

The kayali layering/discovery set arrived. Tried it with DD whi is probably more their target market.

Vanilla candy rock sugar we both found waaaay to sweet. The 10ml from the gift set will definitely be going on ebay.

Next up the eden sparkling lychee. Still very sweet but much more palatable.

I'm interested to try the vanilla coco and vanilla Royale (patchouli). Not a massive patchouli fan but interested to see how they combine it with vanilla.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 12:28

Vanilla coco is a hit! Vanilla patchouli less so, can't stand this combination of scents.

Stowickthevast · 01/12/2024 12:57

I've got Witchy Woo on now, newly received from the Space NK fragrance advent.

It's started off a bit too powdery for me, but I prefer it now it's dried down to a more incense smell.

LightandBreezy · 01/12/2024 13:02

@Lurkingshark yes, sorry I meant they don't have them at my local cafe (pistachio croissants)

MiaN · 01/12/2024 13:08

@Stowickthevast It's strange one, isn't it? I have gone 180 on this from hating it to thinking it's really cool, unusual but enjoyable scent and I rate it highly. I often give up after one sniff and I am glad I did not for this one as it takes few sniffs to appreciate fully.

I put few drops of e11even oil in diffuser
It went off quickly last year, its a repeat. I will try it as calming bedroom scent to see if I can make use of it that way

happytobemrsg · 01/12/2024 13:10

A bit bored of my usual daily JM Poppy & Barley. It’s lovely, but been wearing it for a year. I have the JM Velvet Rose & Oud coming for Christmas (can’t wait!) & thinking of buying something else to mix it up with so I don’t get bored.

Going to Bluewater tomorrow & thinking 30/50ml max. Ideally no more than £100. There’s a Penhaligons there, also a John Lewis.

Anything you think I should try out? If not, I might end up going with JM Peony & Blush Suede but I really did want to venture out from JM….

Stowickthevast · 01/12/2024 13:12

Yes it's a bit odd - will reserve judgement.
I was going to just try the E11even on my wrists tomorrow but good to know it goes off quickly.

I wish they gave you a little description each day!

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 13:52

I like the Vyrao scents but they are a bit of an acquired taste. Never fell in love with witchy woo and prefer mamajuju and magnetic 70. Still have verdant, georgette and sun Rae on the 'to try' list.

I don't think I'd buy a full bottle of any.

Still deliberating whether to keep the MG Absolu bottle. I think I'm slightly hacked off that the scent is not the same as the original. Why oh why do they do this??

paristotokyo · 01/12/2024 14:21

@happytobemrsg I'd go to a JL and just have a good sniff of loads! See what takes your fancy.

Today is kayali vanilla 28. Wowzers this one is vanilla on steroids. Way too sweet for me I think on inital spray but hope it settles down.. will probably wash off and wear a non-vanilla scent as I've been overdosing on vanilla scents lately trying to find the one. So far tf tobacco vanille is a forerunner but I've heard it's been duped a lot so something to look into considering the price tag.

Mine came today too. I got the one with 8 x 2ml

i have had a spritz of each. To be honest i got a bit trigger happy.

Theres 4 I like but i cant remember which I put where. I am sure one is the pistachio. And I think one is sparkling lychee. Not sure if any are full size worthy yet. Might upgrade a couple to 10ml.

it’s strange because they are nothing special. But once Kayali dries down I find myself constantly sniffing my arm. Quite addictive. That’s how I went from a sample of vanilla 28. To a 10ml to a full bottle. Again. Nothing spectacular but when I ran out of it I was sad and missed it.

spikeandbuffy · 01/12/2024 16:12

The kayali vanilla I find needs to sit for a while, mine is almost black in colour now

CorneliaStreet · 01/12/2024 16:12

@happytobemrsg Maybe try out some of the Hermes Jardin scents (Un Jardin Sur Le Nil is one of my favourite perfumes). They have testers of them in JL. They also have all the Maison Margiela Replica line.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 16:37

Have resolved the Mojave Ghost dilemma. Phoned up Harvey Nichols - you CAN return things but it's very convoluted. Their standard returns will reject anything beauty related even if completely sealed but customer services told me I could cancel the sale under the distance selling regs by completing a special form. Very underhand as they don't tell you this on the website! Anyway the absolu is going back and I've managed to get a 50ml bottle of the orginal on Space NK for £103 reduced from £150 using a combination of codes, points plus the BF discount.

I know the original MG fades easily, but the absolu just wasn't hitting the spot for me so I suppose I'll have to just keep re spraying it.

happytobemrsg · 01/12/2024 18:37

So I don’t accidentally double up - does anyone know if JM Velvet Rose & Oud is too similar to Penhaligon’s Halfeti? Or is there room for both? Thanks!

happytobemrsg · 01/12/2024 18:41

@CorneliaStreet Thank you! I’ve made a note of those

paristotokyo · 01/12/2024 21:07

Forgot to wash off vanilla 28 and randomly smelled a waft of something pleasant which turned out out be this. So almost 12 hrs on I quite like it.. lasts a long time but not sure I want to wait 12 hrs to have a scent I quite like. It's just way too strong on opening for me. Won't be getting rid of the sample at least and think I'll use it up.

MiaN · 02/12/2024 05:25

Lira Xerjoff today.

If you are chating about the daily find on advent we should respect the after 7 am as few of our regulars are opening fragrance heavy advent. When the season is over we should do best and worse perfume/advent find

IDontHateRainbows · 02/12/2024 07:30

Tried the Gris Charnel sample today as@MiaN had intrigued me. It reminds me of something.. I think Mamajuju! That sweet yet spicy sense. Definitely hints of black tea. Love it!

MiaN · 02/12/2024 07:45

Strange that I did not get on with Mamajuju at all but I adore Gris Charnel. It's trully my favourite fall/winter fragrance right now

I just sprayed some mamajuju on my other hand to compare -ok, mamajuju is a lot sweeter, but there is something common to the both of them, to my nose. Gris is like a combo of escentric black tea and mama. All good as I love both those.

MiaN · 02/12/2024 08:16

Not to my nose, to me they are not alike at all. Gris Charnel smells like spicy slightly sweet milky tea. Mamajuju smells like wet soil, they descibe it as "smell the earth soaked by rain" on thier website and that's what I am smelling. The clay takes over to my nose at least and I didn't like it as perfume. I can appreciate smelling it for grounding effect but not wearing it myself. I will give it another try to see if my option changes

Happy you like both, Varyo are unique and maybe little polarising scents.

AprilLady · 02/12/2024 08:24

SOTD is Mitsouko. Pleased to say my sense of smell is pretty much back to normal so I can enjoy this as much as usual. Created in 1919 and continuously available ever since, for good reason. There are lots and lots of modern perfumes I enjoy, but if I ever had to reduce my collection to a single perfume, this would be it.

MiaN · 02/12/2024 08:30

@AprilLady I will give it a sniff next time I am out shopping, I sm curious now
