I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

I've ordered from fragrance samples uk also and seems legit. Have gone on to purchase a larger size from a shop and definitely was authentic. I wouldn't purchase a decanted sample from eBay or a group though

MiaN · 30/11/2024 07:34

I will be ok buying form company I think, it's the decants on ebay that I would be more concerned. I am not against buying dupe if it's from normal company like Zara or dupe houses that still comply with regulations, it's more that I would be concerned about safety if I end up with countertief that does not. Not sure if this makes sense.

I am not saying you need to like it at all, it's acquired taste. I just don't think it's old fashionable. The boozy note fades very quick leaving it very apple pie to my nose. I go in waves of liking and not liking this type of realistic gourmand scents. October to December I enjoy them, but once Christmas is done I am done until the next year. I don't really want people in work for example to think I smell like home baked goods, but on my weekends walking the dog outside for my own please I would enjoy it without guilt.

Hi, heard about this thread over on the advent calendar threads. Another perfume lover here.

I’ve spent so much on other beauty stuff this Black Friday that I only got one fragrance - the Phlur Vanilla Skin body mist on offer at Space NK. It’s fine, nothing special but also pretty cheap, so that’s ok.

If anyone is looking for a good sample set, the Gallivant one is the best I’ve ever had. Really interesting, good quality scents with great longevity. I seem to remember that you get the cost of the sample set back against a full size (though I somehow ended up with two full sizes). Think you have to order it from their own website.

CorneliaStreet · 30/11/2024 07:41

Re Angel’s Share, I’ve only ever had the Perfume Parlour dupe but I loved it. One day I’ll treat myself to a bottle of the real thing. I love gourmand scents, though only at home in the evening. My all time favourite evening scent is Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 71, though Shay & Blue Salt Caramel is a close second. I would never wear either of those to work!

hughiedoesntfight · 30/11/2024 07:50

Also I wasn’t a fan of Angels Share. I expected to love it and it by right up my street.

But I found it a bit lacking and a tad musty. A bit like Morrisons apple pies mum used to buy in the 90s. I also found more of an apple scent in it, than I did in Apple brandy.

But oddly I do always have a sniff when I am see it. I want to like it. It’s just not the one for me.

MiaN · 30/11/2024 07:58

Apple Brandy is my favourite of Killian boozy range, as it is a lot fresher, less food like and the boozy notes stick around.

We are all different, there isn't right or wrong way. And then, we change our minds and that's good too

OnthePisteAgain · 30/11/2024 07:16

I ordered from Fragrance Samples UK which as far as I know, is authentic. It's a great way to try some of these amazing fragrances.

I really wanted to like Angels Share, maybe it just doesn't suit me but I honestly couldn't wait to wash it off!

I think the fakesters on ebay will be selling / faking more your mass market perfumes than niche brands, I have only e ef had one fake off ebay which was a Valentino, realised straight away and challenged the seller, got an immediate refund!

I don't tend to get decants that often but have recently ordered from Scented Samples who seem legit. I guess a decant service woukdnt last long selling fakes but its not out of the question.

nearly61 · 30/11/2024 08:24

trying Do Son today -a new one for me and from a sample I bought via eBay but it's in its original little bottle with a spray so I'm pretty sure it's genuine. Anyway -surprsingly strong scent- a little goes a long way. Very rich floral, which is something I don't normally go for, but I really like this!

IDontHateRainbows · 30/11/2024 09:26

Kayali love fest burning cherry today. Agree with @MiaN it is one of the better Kayalis.

My Kayali discovery set is waiting at home for me ( I'm away). Back tonight so will be having a discovering sesh later!

Mackemlass79 · 30/11/2024 11:21

Tom Ford lost cherry for me today not going anywhere today so it's a nice scent but not too overbearing for a day at home or if anyone pops in

spikeandbuffy · 30/11/2024 13:54

J lo glow - my "I don't know what to wear but want to smell like clean soap" scent

Howmanyroses · 30/11/2024 14:26

SOTD is Portrait of a Lady, started out promising, but after about 15 mins smells only of cloves, so that's another pass. Although I've just tried a spritz of Charlotte Tilbury Calm Bliss and I quite like it. I know I shouldn't, but I do...

LightandBreezy · 30/11/2024 15:31

Veronique Gabai, Noir de Mai today - not my usual thing, another amber scent. Wouldn't purchase a full bottle but will try using this for winter nights out

paristotokyo · 30/11/2024 16:58

Recieved my kayali set today, not bad for £11 with the discount and credit. Tried burning cherry first. Quite nice but didn't last very long but I only spritzed a tiny bit on my hand to test as I was heading out

MiaN · 30/11/2024 17:39

Lost Cherry is amazing but I find it does not last on my skin at all! I may get another 10ml some day, but would only spray on clothes.

Kayali does last longer for me this year, maybe after having the bottle for a year it changed the strength little. However it is also not great on skin.

They are quite different, I really like both.

MiaN · 01/12/2024 07:17

Mojave Ghost is fantastic. I don't gravitate towards that type of scent in December, or I try to focus myself towards the stronger scents that I can only wear cold months but it is one of my favourites. We may not agree on Bal D'Afrique and Mumbai Noise but for this one we are on same page :)

Speaking of favorites, and being 1st of December today at least for the morning scent of the day is The Favorite form Penhaligon's 2023 advent. I can honestly say I love how spring in bottle this feels to my nose. It's very pretty and soft, well blended and fresh and I am looking forward wearing it more in February & March when I am more into spring perfumes. It will be perfect for the office too.

I may go full swing the other direction to watch Witchy Woo tonight, it's the one I hated on first sniff but then I couldn't stop smelling it and I eventually decided it has solid place in my winter collection - as spooky as it is.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 08:21

Mojave ghost absolu from the Scented samples sample today. Although nice, it's not quite the same as the original. I'm going to return the big bottle, can't justify the cost if it's not perfect.

LightandBreezy · 01/12/2024 08:52

For Advent calendar reasons this morning I'm wearing Sol De Janiero 62 perfume mist. It's compelling me to go to my local patisserie and buy one of their vanilla croissants. Pistachio croissant would be more appropriate but alas they don't exist. I'm enjoying the spray, although it's apparent capacity to trigger my sweet tooth is maybe not helpful.

AprilLady · 01/12/2024 09:26

@LightandBreezy snap, doing the same. I expect it will have poor longevity though, so planning to wear something else later.

nearly61 · 01/12/2024 09:26

I'm also 'advent testing' -this time it's Ianthe Oud (Liberty's). I'm a bit iffy about it though -doesn't seem to have the complexity of Santal 33 but, also, I guess it's not so overpowering (to my nose). It has settled nicely into a warm 'skin' scent but I only sprayed a little.
Very interested to see what anyone else thinks of this one.

I have been quite impressed with the liberty scents. Have you tried Hera Reigns? I'm not a massive oud fan but that had the tiniest bit of oud blended to perfection so it doesn't take over. It was in the recent scent kit.

Not tried ianthe oud yet.

IDontHateRainbows · 01/12/2024 09:50

A warning to anyone buying from Harvey Nichols, don't buy unless you are sure. Tried to return the unopened byredo hand cream set and they sent it back to me! I only bought it to get over the value for the gwp, gwp had then sold out so I didn't get that anyway. Feel slightly duped and won't be buying from them again. Space NK, liberty and Selfridges are much better customer service wise.

nearly61 · 01/12/2024 10:16

@IDontHateRainbows surely with distance selling they are obliged to take it back? I thought everything bought online was returnable because if a cooling period. Poor CS whatever though. Very annoying for you

I think it's because my order is showing as having the GWP - albeit cancelled due to the GWP selling out. Rightly, they won't accept returns that would take the value below that to receive the GWP but that surely only holds if they have actually sent the GWP! Also, no email explaining anything, just send the pack back with a note saying did not fulfil returns criteria. I'll let it slide as I will keep the mojave hand lotion and sell on the bal d'afrique. But I also bought the mojave oil which stopped working, don't know why but the oil wouldn't come out - sent back as faulty so if that gets sent back out to me I'll be straight on to customer services.

Lurkingshark · 01/12/2024 11:00

Off track but pistachio croissants definitely exist. Like almond past in some almond croissants but from pistachios.

sotd is creed carmina. Whoof! A lot of rose but I like it.

@AprilLady the Elie Saab one you mentioned earlier I’d like to try but can’t seem to find physical stockists easily. Did you blind by it?
