i unboxed (finally) my A/W perfume storage box and today’s SOTD is Fire by Mary Greenwell. It lasts a long time on my skin (this is unusual as I seem to absorb a lot of perfumes instantly) It was a toss up between this and JM Nutmeg and Ginger, so I went for longevity.

(And just holding the lid is very satisfying!)

I have had perfume 'learning' days with the Perfume Society pre lockdown and also a half day in Birmingham with Sarah McCartney from 4160 Tuesday.

Both amazing. Made our own perfume guided by Sarah and she knows so much. Now fb friends and we chat about stuff. Plus I buy some classics from Vinted from her.

This is Her Zadig & Voltaire Scent of the Day. I enjoy it this time of the year.

Kayali Pistachio Gelato for me today - I found a 2ml sample from aons ago. Loved this scent last year and wore it all the time. Now it's nice but a little cloying - maybe my senses have developed?

Meanwhile I have decided the Mumbai Noise was a waste of money. I can't smell it after 5 minutes and keep spraying it so the 50ml bottle has gone down really fast. It was bought as part of the scent library deal so I've gone back to Byredo to see if I can exchange it for something else. Probably they will say no, but worth asking.

I like Byredo, I know I have to spray generously and I had issues smelling some after hours last year I find most get me through my normal work day - leaving the house at 6 am and coming back after 5. They aren't known to be lasting, but Mumbai Noise is not skin/citrus type of scent profile that are traditionally not lasting. They sure know how to charge, but they mess around with the formulas too. I hope they look after you

You can of course also try to sell the remaining you have, if they don't.

smelled Endymion Penhaligon's from the advent on my husband today, really suits him.

Nest Madagascan vanilla perfume oil. Got in a beauty edit. @spikeandbuffy you may like this one! Very sweet smelling

I don't know why it lasts so short on me ... maybe I've become de sensitized through over use? Mojave ghost is my next favorite it seems so if offered a swap , may go for d that. Never had longevity issues with a scent before, v disappointing!

Does anyone know if the liberty fragrance advent calendar has been and gone and I missed it? Or has it not come out yet?

I'm not aware of a liberty fragrance AC. Only the scent kit recently released which is still available.

Thank you @IDontHateRainbows i saw on one of the calandar sites that they were doing one, expected to be released early November.

But not seen anything else about it. So maybe they aren’t doing one. I looked at the scent kit but there wasn’t much in it, I wanted to try.

I do have some samples coming from Jovoy on Monday, some perfume oils from Simon’s nest (some are Christmas presents for dd) this week. So at least plenty to try.

Also ordered the 75ml YSL babycat for Christmas, it was a bargain price on John Lewis. Can’t wait to see her face when she opens it!

First sniff I wasn't sure but now it's drying down i'm beginning to like it. Its a strange scent, reminds me of something I can't put my finger on. Some violet in there. .I don't think it will become a favourite however.

Sniffing Queen of The Night The Merchant of Venice from Harrods advent tonight. It is gorgeous to my nose vanilla amber but vanilla is not listed

I'm wearing soft spot by Phlur this evening - I had a sample vial so hadn't tried it before but I really like it. Its vanillarey but not overly sweet - right up by street. I'm not tempted to buy it - I have far too many I'm working my way through and have the vanilla skin from the space nk calendar.

Have found a perfume making workshop locally to me and told DH that's what I want for xmas. 2 hours including time to make own scent and 20ml sample to take home -bargainous at £59 although I've no idea what my scent will be like or whether it will be good enough to actually wear! I suppose that's not the point, it's to learn about perfume and have a go at doing it!

I love Kayali Pistachio but I will never buy it again until they sort out the longevity of it. The smell doesn’t even last a few hours. Such a shame because the smell
is lovely.

Velvet Tonka BDK again today, mainly as my husband like it so much I want to give the sample another chance. I am really looking forward receiving my BDK order, I will wear Gris Charnel more often. I just don't want to use up my travel, now that I know I have full size bottle coming my way. it's very almond marzipan like to my nose, it may mix well with cherry

Byredo mojave ghost today! Fast becoming my favorite Byredo. I also got the body lotion in the hopes of increasing the longevity.
