I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

Blanche is laundry type, but I don't love the drydown
La Tulipe smells like fresh Tulipes in garden whith the stem
Gypsy Water to me some time to fully appreciate

My son loves Mumbai Noise, Vanille Antique and Biblioteque.

Lurkingshark · 13/11/2024 15:46

Hi @IDontHateRainbows I am working through the byredo library diligently (so slightly boring updates from me). I’d be interested in your thoughts.

I seem to like a lots of the masculine leaning ones ( I think - de los Santos, oud immortel and 1996 are contenders for me) .

Im trying rose of no man’s land today. Like other byredo I don’t really like most of the top notes but the dry downs grow on me. I also keep spraying my watch strap by accident and it holds beautifully there- so maybe I need to spray more onto clothes? Anyway, this is a yummy rose later in.

MiaN · 13/11/2024 15:49

Sundazed is fun citrus for the summer

I didn't love the rest, have 2 more I have not tried since last December- it's huge set. My soon to good few

AprilLady · 13/11/2024 16:32

I’ve not had any Byredo sample sets, but I have yet to love any Byredo scents I have tried.

The Byredo Mineralscapes Eyeshadow palette on the other hand, is easily the best I’ve bought in a long while…

spikeandbuffy · 13/11/2024 16:36

Kyse bonbon vanille today
Kind of balsamic vanilla

MiaN · 13/11/2024 16:46

Ordered bottle of BDK Gris Charnel from their website and got free 10ml of Leather Vanille as they have offer on. Also bunch more samples I want to explore, as I am really enjoying the set I got.

Sn that's one out of 4 bottles for the year gone, with year expiring next September! Let's see how it goes

QueefofSheena · 13/11/2024 18:48

Versace Dylan Purple for me today. I got it in the Flannels cracker last year and RP.

I haven’t tried much Byredo make up but I love the Commuter lipstick from last year’s Liberty AC

paristotokyo · 13/11/2024 18:57

The only byredo I've tried so far is mojave ghost which I didn't like and ended up selling. I've got both mumbai noise and bal d'afrique samples yet to try which have been mentioned on here a lot so I'm intrigued to give those a try

IDontHateRainbows · 13/11/2024 20:54

Thanjs for the Byredo recs. I had meant to sell some of the samples to pay for it but theyre not shifting very fast so i may keep for personal use.
Had a naughty squirt in the perfume section of John Lewis today as needed to pop on to pick up something. Went for maison margiela on a date- didn't like it, too sweet. Not sure if it has actual dates in it hence thd name?

Also had a spritz of autumn vibes which I do love but not enough to repurchase after getting a sample earlier in the year. It does last a lot longer than the byredos tho.

MiaN · 14/11/2024 05:12

Another one from my not so sure keep or declutter perfumes - Zara Ebony Woods. I went through Zara buying phase but by now, I have only 4 left in my normal perfumes and few used in bathroom as spray and this is one of them. I have the old original bottles, I am really not a fan of the new circle bottles but they seem popular.

I will test it today and I feel maybe it's winter fragrance as I am kind of liking the initial spray and have not liked it for some time

MiaN · 14/11/2024 11:05

A test I deeply regret. I can not wait to go home and wash it off, something in this perfume doesn't agree with me

TheLongRider · 14/11/2024 11:15

There's nothing worse than a scent you can't stand. I'm using Wazamba again today, I love the spicy opening but my skin seems to cling to the piney base. It's a suitable autumn/winter scent but I don't think I want a full bottle.

MiaN · 14/11/2024 17:51

Ebony wood went in the bin, I like the initial spray and but something just makes me feel sick. I have 15ml Jo Malone Pomelo, maybe fram last year's Space Nk advent. I had a shower pre gym class and my husband sprayed little bit on my top and my husband said he hates it! Not sure what would it fate be - for now, I am keeping it in the to get rid of box - either bathroom, sale, gift or bin but another bites the dust. i don't hate this one but I have much better citruses.

Not a good smelling day! No testing tomorrow, it will be favourites.

MiaN · 14/11/2024 18:01

the above was Jo Loves, not Jo Malone. T-Shirt change, one spray only of Jo Malone Orange Marmalade (I fancy light citrus for some reason) and we are back in action. I enjoy this in the heat of the summer, but it will cheer me up now too it's not very sweet at all the name is misleading.

IDontHateRainbows · 14/11/2024 20:35

Still on the Byredo, mojave ghost on one hand / wrist mumbai noise on the other! Kind of worked. Wouldn't do that on an office day but great for wfh.

Come to the conclusion that Byredo scents just don't last long. Even if I put a lotion on beforehand to moisten the skin. You wouldn't believe how fast the 50ml bottle has gone down, still love the scent but nit gonna be replacing it

TheLongRider · 14/11/2024 21:40

My local TKMaxx has 15ml bottles of Miller Harris perfumes for €12.99 at the moment. I bought Rêverie de Bergamote and Secret Gardenia.

MiaN · 15/11/2024 08:38

Slight hint of almond from my aveeno body cream, and habitat spa day candle in my home office for me today. No perfume - need a break.

MiaN · 15/11/2024 09:26

Any Replica or Goldfield and Banks Favorites?

IDontHateRainbows · 15/11/2024 09:30

I probably need a break from perfume too. Going nose blind and also slightly overwhelmed with the number of mini/travel sizes I've got from advent calendars and beauty boxes lately!

Meanwhile I've taken a break from the Byredo and spritz of the day is Tobacco Veloute from L'Atelier Parfum. I was expecting from the name for this to be a smoky, dark kind of scent but it's actually quite sweet and reminds me of pistachio gelato by Kayali a little.

There is also some depth to it - it's not a light fragrance.

Meanwhile I am considering going on one of those perfume courses/ one day sessions where they guide you through how perfume is made and you can then make your own and take a sample home! Ideal xmas present for DH to give me. Has anyone gone on one of these before? I'm not expecting to have an amazing perfume by the end of it but it will be interesting to have the experience of making one!

Stowickthevast · 15/11/2024 09:50

L'eau de L'hiver by Frederic Malle today - seemed apt for a chill morning. It's very subtle, almost not there, I mainly get irises and violets. I think I bought this to replicate Apres L'ondee as the current one has been changed, but l prefer the Guerlain.

WTAFisthisnonsense · 15/11/2024 10:09

I'm wearing Diptyque Do Son. It is a nostalgic scent for me, so perfect for this time of year.

evtheria · 15/11/2024 12:22

Today I've put on one spritz of Centaurus by Creed (off a free sample). Gentle haze of cinnamon and tobacco, and thankfully not so much 'christmas candle'. 6.5/10 from me.

MiaN · 15/11/2024 13:11

Perfume making class sounds really fun, I would do one if there is one close by.

the cardigan I am wearing smells like Naxos parfum little bit. I do not get on with tobacco scents usually but this is so good. It is a scent that reminds me of growing up at home, and warm lavender & honey & lemon tea my aunt always made me when I am sick. Slightly medicinal, but not in mediction way - in healing and feeling warm and looked after way. I don't get too much tobacco and the little I get I enjoy. I sprayed it days if not weeks ago, I don't want to wash the top and my son took the perfume and I enjoy it so much. It transports me home. Harvey Nicks advent was my favourite this year.

IDontHateRainbows · 15/11/2024 14:25

Ordered a sample of DS Durga Radio Bombay today, sticking with the Indian theme! I'm not sure I like it, it's a sharp peppery spicy rather than a warm clove/ cardamom spicy BUT when I layer it with the beloved mumbai noise they go really well together and it gives the mumbai a bit more longevity.

Who knows, maybe I'm born to be a perfumer?
I'm smelling like a nicer version of a curry house but theres no one but me and the cats in the house right now so who cares!

MiaN · 15/11/2024 15:18

haha, my husband (and son) loves spicy & oudy fragrances and my husband's office room is painted very dark colour and he often burns oudy candles. He has a lot of art on the walls, that is rock vibe, bands, some arts etc so it's a moody room. I keep joking with him that his office room has fancy curry house vibe - he is not remotely impressed by my comments.

I am not big in mixing perfumes myself, I tend to like them as they are or not like them and the longevity doesn't seem to work for me. I can smell the long lasting one but the short lived is gone when it's gone I can no longer smell it. All the fragrance enhancers are wasted on me

I love cardamom in some fragrances spices are yey for me. And there are few oudy I like on others.
