I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

Ooh yes I love the MFK gentle fluidity gold -gorgeous scent and I discovered it via another sample years ago when John Lewis did a £15 box of discovery scents! What a bargain that was :)
Wearing Oud elixir Veronique Gabai today -from advent so new to me- and I didn't like the initial spray but it has really settled into a nice soft scent. I did only spray a tiny amount though, thankfully, as I didn't think I'd like it but it does seem very strong so a small amount is about right!

paristotokyo · 09/11/2024 16:39

Been lurking on this thread and have been enjoying all the fragrance chat! Has inspired me to start using fragrance more regularly so thought I'd join in. I purchased lots of samples and discovery sets a while ago to see what I liked and am slowly working my way through. I recently got a bunch of vanilla forward samples also as I'm on the hunt for 'the one'. Todays SOTD is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. Love at first sniff! I was unsure about the tobacco but it's barely noticeable on me and it's only present subtlety in the background. It's sweet and spicy and the vanilla is very smooth. Definitely a cosy warm scent which is perfect for this time of year.

I am really looking forward fragrance advent reports & posts in December or earlier.

Having coffee with my arms smelling like few perfumes but will settle on VB Portofino after shower.

BakeOffRewatch · 10/11/2024 07:58

Me too @MiaN ! Can’t believe we’re so close after discussing the calendar contents intensely over the summer holidays. August to December goes really quickly

IDontHateRainbows · 10/11/2024 09:12

Missing being at home with my wode range of (mainly samples) scents to choose from. Found the remnants of a 2ml mohave ghost sample in my handbag so that'll be today's.

Coming to the conclusion that Byredo are in general not strong or lasting scents. They've just bought out a more expensive, stronger Mojave Ghost which makes me wonder what was wrong with the original. At nearly £200 for a small bottle I've no intention of buying it!

Nearlyadoctor · 10/11/2024 09:47

Chanel Comete today - bought a 75ml bottle using the 20% discount from JL. It’s my new favourite, although I did take a chance as had only briefly tried it in duty free prior to going away in August. Have always loved Coromandel but it’s a bit heavy for me.

Ooh. Are they nice? The lidl mandarin and lime dupe is pretty good.

I only have the ginger biscuit perfume but it did smell very close, the orange bitters was nice too and sharp
Huge candles!

AprilLady · 10/11/2024 11:19

SOTD is OJ Damask. Like PDM Delina, but better in my view. Very decent sillage and longevity too. Wearing over the weekend as I think it’s a bit strong for office wear.

AprilLady · 10/11/2024 11:20

@Nearlyadoctor snap, I also very recently bought Comete and am really enjoying it. If you like the softer Chanel scents, have you tried Beige? I really like it for everyday wear.

Nearlyadoctor · 10/11/2024 11:36

@AprilLady - I haven’t , it’s the first Exclusif one I’ve bought despite liking Coromandel in the past. I may well have to splurge on Beige whilst the offer is on.

MiaN · 11/11/2024 05:31

I had a sniff at chanel counter before but people have sprayed the bottle caps so you can shell dried out/dusty off smell vs the perfume. There are always tester papper strips there, why??? I suspect it was bunch of teen boys at. Some point before me that day. I thought Coromandel is incredibly confident, I have my sh*t together boss lady smell. Very cool. I didn't try anything else

Bdk Gris Charnel for me today testing the extrait from the sample set I bought on one arm. I prefer the original by miles, the extrait is very smokey more masculine to my nose.

Bdk Gris Charnel is fighting with Acne Sudios FM for my first full bottle since I started my no more then 4 bottles in year challenge.

nearly61 · 11/11/2024 09:37

This morning's new one to try is Escentric E02 -I wasn't sure what to expect but actually really am enjoying the soft background fragrance that has developed over the last couple of hours. Not entirely sure it will last a huge amount of time but so far so good.

spikeandbuffy · 11/11/2024 10:24

Zara - a pastry in Paris today

paristotokyo · 11/11/2024 10:43

Kilian - Love don't be shy. Very sweet fragrance, almost sickly. Like vanilla marshmellow sugar on steroids. Luckily only a sample I was testing. Not about to scrub off but won't be purchasing a larger size.

I love that scent! I'm a huge gourmand fan though, if I smell like a sweet shop I'm happy

AprilLady · 11/11/2024 11:45

Diptyque Eau Rose today. My go to scent when I want straight, grown up rose.

MiaN · 11/11/2024 17:37

@AprilLady smelling great today, that's really pretty and I normally don't like rose scents

Fantastic Atelier Cologne offers on Notino. I love what I have but don't want to blind buy at least for some time

IDontHateRainbows · 11/11/2024 18:43

Tried the Rare Beauty Find Comfort spray and body lotion today. Wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did, have read it's very similar to Bal D’Afrique which is too citrussy for me, but I think it's quite different and not the same at all although I can see they're not totally different.

Just as well I prefer it as it's loads cheaper!

MiaN · 11/11/2024 19:00

It's me that I find them very similar, although Bal D'Afrique is more citrusy at the opening for sure. Glad you like it, I love both. They have the same little 10ml perfume/mini body cream in Space NK too, I bought it as I love this profile.

Give Bal D'Afrique chance in the summer, you may find you like it better. To my nose the citrus start does not last long, and the drydown they are very similar. I do not like citruses this time of the year at all, but love them end of spring/summer but I have heard others finding it more citrusy then I do.

You are right - Byredo not known for longevity. Allegedly the new Mojave Ghost has same scent as the original before Byredo was bought over by the Puig group. I can not say if this is true or not to be honest, I don't have longevity issue with Mojave Ghost and have not tried the new one.

Most days I wear Bal D'Afrique I genuinely think of myself as "damn I smell great." 😂I don't get this with any other perfume

Edited

I have been into citruses before, but agree with you it is more a summer thing! I am VERY seasonal with my scents and what suits in winter (eg, malin + goetz dark rum, MM autumn vibes) I wouldn't go near on a warm summer's day! The citrus I loved previously which has now been discontinued I think is atelier clementine california.
I actually have both find comfort and a spritz from a sample of bal on my arm right now (in different places) and the find comfort is definitely a lot softer with a woody/musky undertone (I'm crap at describing perfumes so dont know if those are the right words!) whereas the bal is a lot more tangy/tart. to me anyway, everyone's nose is different. But I can see why the find comfort is getting such rave reviews. I also got the space NK kit - on your recommendation ( I actually mistakenly thought it was like mojave ghost not bal and only realised after ordering that I'd got it wrong!) with £5 ndulge points and a diptyque sample I can get £10 for on ebay that works out at £15 odd for both spray and lotion - bargain!

MiaN · 11/11/2024 19:30

Clementine California is available and on offer in Notino. They disappeared for awhile and came back - I think Loreal is trying to figure out what to do with the brand since they bought Atelier Cologne and relaunched online only for now on look fantastic and notino with different packaging.

I am same with seasonal scents. I read somewhere - woody all year round, summer citrus/freshies, autumn fruit, winter vanilla/amber/oud, spring florals. I would always appreciate citrus/freshie of going to a gym glass, but else it kind of make sense to me.

I am glad you like it!

MiaN · 11/11/2024 19:34

"the find comfort is definitely a lot softer with a woody/musky undertone (I'm crap at describing perfumes so dont know if those are the right words!) whereas the bal is a lot more tangy/tart."
I get same at the start, but not that tart more some freshness, maybe little bit ore for warmer weather. I just love both. it's all good, we don't have to like same perfumes. I love having a nosey about what scents others like and how does a fragrance make them feel - it's fun light topic.

IDontHateRainbows · 11/11/2024 19:37

I've never got into it so much as this year! It's probably these advent calendars that have given me the bug. I also love coffee fragrances, for a long time my go to was Floral Street Ylang Ylang espresso which I still enjoy but I've moved on to other things now.
