I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

Congratulations on the new job 🎉

purplebeansprouts · 27/10/2024 18:13

I've found my people. Scent of the day is that sol de janeiro spray that smells of the bum bum cream

nearly61 · 27/10/2024 19:13

Ooh Creed Carmina for me today -I finally cracked and opened my HN fragrance advert! I love this and really hope it has staying power.

Stowickthevast · 27/10/2024 20:12

@AprilLady we share perfume tastes - I also love Diptyque's L'ombre dans l'eau.

I got a Diptyque discovery set last Christmas, and that's the one I've finished. I'm going to ask for a full size this year, it's gorgeous.

MiaN · 28/10/2024 06:25

VB Portofino for me today. I am really glad I am back to loving this as I could not stend it in the summer and it's expensive. It's good to keep fragrance or tester and try it in different seasons.

I may do drop or LIra tonight closer to bed time, I only have decant of it and while enjoy it I don't know if I want to smell as eatable in public.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 28/10/2024 06:58

Avon Timeless today.

IDontHateRainbows · 28/10/2024 08:05

I can't stop spraying Mumbai Noise everywhere now i have the big bottle. I think I'm actually addicted. Not only addicted, but like a drug addict I seem to have developed tolerance and need more and more to smell it. Oh dear, maybe I need a fragrance break/ re set my sense of smell.

Not regretting getting the Byredo deal at all though.

hughiedoesntfight · 28/10/2024 08:31

Muller Alien Goddess today. First time wearing it. See if it gets as many compliments as Burberry goddess

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 28/10/2024 13:14

Plum Japonais by Tom Ford for me today. I love this, it's a very autumnal scent to my nose and I always find myself bringing it out again this time of year

LoafofSellotape · 28/10/2024 13:33

Inis , lovely fresh smell, I'd forgotten how much I like it.

QueefofSheena · 28/10/2024 17:31

Marfa by Memo today. It’s quite sweet and another one that smells like something else that I can’t quite place.

IDontHateRainbows · 28/10/2024 17:31

Marfa by Memo today. It’s quite sweet and another one that smells like something else that I can’t quite place.

Oh I like that one. Seen it in a few advent calendars.

QueefofSheena · 28/10/2024 17:36

@IDontHateRainbows I keep forgetting where I got all these little bottles from 😁 I’ve had so many different ones in GWP and perfume edits. I have my late MIL’s cocktail cabinet in my bedroom, which I love. All my perfumes live on the top shelf

MiaN · 29/10/2024 06:03

Gris Charne BDK l for me today. My favourite advent calendar find this year, I am really enjoying this and it's perfect for this time of the year. This and Naxos have been the standouts for me from what we have tried and both are things I wouldn't normally pick myself or even I wouldn't be able to fully appreciate if just trying in store.

I am working from home today and I will paper strip test the BDK sample set, although with this brand more then others I find paper strip tests bit pointless. I did not like Gris Charnel when smelled from bottle in store or on paper - it's on skin that magic happens. I did spray Pas Ce Soir and Pas Se Soir extract on skin and it's a firm no for me. Bouguet of Hongrie is gorgeous Chanel Chance Eau Tendre EDT or Mojave Ghost type of fresh, clean, pretty - little bit like shampoo fresh type of scent - I will definitely be testing on skin as this type is what I most often wear in office.

@IDontHateRainbows hope your new job is starting smoothly. I work in large open office and most of the time I know what type of day I have ahead, and for days I have a lot of face to face meeting I go really light. But for normal office days I can go little braver as long as someone 1m from me can not smell me I am good.

MiaN · 29/10/2024 06:23

No regrets in buying perfume advent calendars this year, and we have at least sniffed everything and only 2 did not find any love - one is tiny 5ml, and one 20ml that I will probably try to find another home. Sharing fragrance advents have been fun. Glad I ordered SpaceNK before it sold out - due to be delivered today.

However, I am really happy with my decision to not buy more than 4 perfumes 30ml or bigger over the next 12 months and I feel I need to downsize what I have to loves, and find other homes to the likes over the next few months too.

First on the chopping board will be Cherry Ambition 7 virtues and Aqua di Parma Oud and Zagara. They will be either bathroom scent or swapped/sold.

BakeOffRewatch · 29/10/2024 08:38

Do you find sniffing is enough @MiaN ? In the last Liberty Beauty Drop box we got a Sana Jardin “Sandalwood Temple”. At first sniff it smelt awful to me, just could smell alcohol. When I sprayed it yesterday I really liked it.

i haven’t really been doing daily different perfumes, though reading the thread. I love Vyrao Witchy Woo and been wearing that since I last posted, a couple of evenings I put on Granado Jardim Real EDT that came in Liberty Scent With Love kit 2024 as per @MiaN example. That’s got a lovely relaxing pillow spray vibe.

im saving the Thameen Bravi for summer.

hughiedoesntfight · 29/10/2024 08:43

I have used Mancera Velvet vanilla. It’s from a discovery set my daughter got me. Want to see how it lasts.

MiaN · 29/10/2024 09:22

@BakeOffRewatch no it's not enough. And testing in store is tricky as perfume stores can hold on to scent from all the sprayed perfumes! I have had perfume I like in the store and initial spray and the dry down is horrid too. I think testing on skin for a full day is good idea, and I certainly will be slower to buy full size bottles in future. I also love sample sets for same reason - it's not same to test in store.

IDontHateRainbows · 29/10/2024 09:24

I've succumbed and got the vyrao high 5 large sample set. 7.5mls each and it was reduced in liberty, then had £20 beauty drop credit so £43 to me instead of £79. Annoyingly mamajuju isn't in there, but I loke the concept of the vyrao scents so this will be on my try list after the current obsession with Byredo ends.
Mojave ghost again today as office day.

MiaN · 29/10/2024 09:48

I would also say different seasons matter when testing a perfume. I gave up on few form space nk last year so quick (gave to my son) and end up buying 10ml for myself in the summer. Looking forward trying varao myself, they have fun branding/concept.

AprilLady · 29/10/2024 10:09

Going classic today: Chanel No 5 L’eau - the lighter, fresher and in my view more every day wearable version of Chanel 5.

MiaN · 29/10/2024 10:12

You know what intrigued me over the weekend. I tested good few perfumes when out and one of them was Acne Studios by Frederic Malle. It smells like laundry, and it's crazy lasting for scent of this type - it is still going strong on the paper stip days later. I am not sure if I would like to smell that fresh? But in the same time I enjoy smelling it

Stowickthevast · 29/10/2024 11:13

I've gone for a slightly obscure one today - Mantes La Jolie by Astier De Villatte. My aunt bought it in Paris for me this summer and it probably is more summery. It starts of with a strong basil, and then dries down to a more citrus scent and finally jasmine. I like it's freshness.

nearly61 · 29/10/2024 12:14

Tocca Cleopatra today for me -I'm enjoying it but, again, not sure if it will last very long as I seems quite light to me. I wonder if this is a me thing though and not a perfume problem at all. Anyway, a pretty scent and I've reapplied it a couple of times already to get that lovely floral hit at the start.

MiaN · 29/10/2024 12:22

I didn't get on with Tocca Cleopatra, but I had a set of Tocca minis and few 20ml - Collette and Stella and they are light perfumes that need a lot of reapplying. I keep them for the summer and carry them in my handbag. I think it's the brand.
