I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

Chanel Allure today. It really flourishes in autumn weather. Too stifling for summer but then not strong enough for winter so Autumn is it’s time to shine imo.
Alternating Allure daily with YSL Libre so I don’t get nose blind to either one and really appreciate them.

looking forward to temps dropping below 10 Celsius when I can break out my beloved Angel Share by Killian to alternate with Lost Cherry TF, again to avoid the nose blindness.

Orangeslemon · 25/10/2024 23:57

I’m another Miller Harris fan! I think their discovery set is worth getting as it costs £30 and you get a £30 voucher for a 50ml or 100ml size with it (and I originally got it for £24 with a Black Friday discount). My personal favourites are L’Air de Rien and Scherzo although I think only the latter is in the set. They also have a good loyalty programme on their website!

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 26/10/2024 06:32

Ooh I didn't know that about miller Harris, will investigate. I love their perfumes, my absolute all time favourite (la fumee) is discontinued but I am eeking out my last bottle.

Can often pick up their newer scents at tk maxx but rarely the classics. I did manage to get le pamplemousse there which i really like

MiaN · 26/10/2024 07:58

Thanks for the thoughts on Miller Harris, I will add it on my to sample list. I tried few last night - Tiziana Terenzi La Superba Rossa last night. It's not something i would buy myself but it is to my nose very fruity sweet pretty well blended happy fragrance that I can see myself being in mood for. I am getting no rose at all, it's fruity and sweet to my nose. I don't know if it reminds me of Paco Rabanne Flame or one of the Aline Goddess flankers - it's that type. Oriana PDM is also like that for me, I wouldn't buy it but now that I have it I feel there will be days I am in mood for it.

Trying to decide between PDM Athalia and BDK Rouge Smoking today - initial sniff of the sample for Rouge Smoking was impressive and Athalia current favourite. I may do scent on scarf, as we are planning to go to the outlet and I am interested in visiting the Penhaligon's store for first time.

Have a great day all

Did I confess here that I end up ordering Space NK advent?

diamondsandrose · 26/10/2024 09:01

Hi all 👋🏻 joining from advent thread , got the SNK fragrance advent so looking to discuss my findings !

Am going to open one drawer per week until new year -ish .

Drawer one was witchy woo which (!) I have put to one side for now as was not expecting 2 different ones in the drawer and want to to give each one its fair testing time ! , and Eleven (ele11ven?) oil

Not sure what I think of eleven
Goes on a bit chocolatey almost, not keen, then seems to freshen up into more a molecule type scent ?

AprilLady · 26/10/2024 09:46

Hi all, have only just noticed this thread. Nice to have an active perfume lover thread again.

I’ve been trying scents from the HN calendar over the last few days. Tried Xerjoff Naxos yesterday, which is definitely a like - really interesting and non-linear fragrance and more feminine leaning than I had expected as I’m not that keen on tobacco notes.

I’ll be out most of today and will be wearing FM En Passant. This is not a new fragrance but it’s an absolute gem - beautiful, quiet, lilac based floral with low sillage but decent longevity. Very office friendly.

I feel the elleven, at least to my nose, it's just essential oil that you will find in health stores that they for some reason trying to market as perfume. Also it goes off much quicker then the rest of the perfumes - it's repeat from last year and mine was off when I smelled few weeks ago. All my perfumes are stored in dark/dry/cool so it is not improper storage.

however, as little essential oil when I need to take few breaths and ground myself or after bath I quite enjoyed it!

MiaN · 26/10/2024 10:00

We fought over Naxos in my family, it's very unique honey, lavender, lemon. My son won and believe it or not is mainly popular with males but totally unisex. I fully intend to rob it for few uses when he isn't around. It's the only one that 3 of us me, my husband and my son wanted and it has great lasting power. I am not fan of tobacco but this is so good - it's the exception

QueefofSheena · 26/10/2024 11:51

I’m wearing when if my regulars today, Molecule 01. I gave it a rest for a while.

TheLongRider · 26/10/2024 12:14

Unfortunately my skin has developed its usual perfume allergy and I've broken out into a lovely blotchy rash. I'm treating it with hydrocortisone cream and an antihistamine but it'll take at least two weeks to disappear. I know the culprit -Barenia by Hermes - fruity florals are usually a disaster in the allergy department. My skin is not particular about the price of the perfume, I react in the same way regardless of whether it is Hermes or Zara. I haven't been able to isolate the exact allergen from an ingredients list.

Back to gourmands and chypres.

QueefofSheena · 26/10/2024 13:01

Oh no @TheLongRider that’s not nice. Hope it clears up quickly with the cream

What happens if you spray a brush instead of your skin, do you still get a reaction?

TheLongRider · 26/10/2024 15:04

I can spray clothing, but I don't like covering clothes with perfume. When testing a new perfume I tend to spray only one patch of skin in case of a reaction. It's also why I won't blind buy full bottles until I've used a tester several times.

Stowickthevast · 26/10/2024 15:38

Hi perfume fans. I'm joining too from the advent calendar thread - , I've just bought the Space NK calendar, but haven't decided when to open it.

I'm also in Frederic Malle today but Synthetic Jungle which is one of my every day scents. It's a very green floral, and for me evokes the stems of cut flowers.

Lurkingshark · 26/10/2024 17:00

Liberty maze sample for me today. Lovely citrusy open but fades in 2-3 hrs and is faintly jasminey. Nice but I’m a bit basic and like a wallop of scent sometimes..

MiaN · 27/10/2024 05:36

"I think I am going to go for Penhaligon's Babylon, PDM Athalia, BDK Gris Charnel and l'interdit Rouge and Creed Queen of Silk this week" - I mostly did stick to the plan, with l'interdit Intense instead of Rouge and minus Queen of silk and Gris Charnel

I am going to go with Kayali Buring Cherry today. I really enjoy this perfume, I don't think it's dupe for Lost Cherry but it is great on it's own right

Next week - I will have to wear Angel's Share, it's the perfect week for it, Lira and Lost Cherry (dupe, I have not decided to purchase original or not yet), Athalia PDM, Gris Charnel and maybe L'interdit Rouge.

Those who bought Space NK last year, what were your hits and misses?

MiaN · 27/10/2024 05:39

@Stowickthevast
I usually get in flower with stems mood as soon as it's 1st of January. I find a lot of joy feeling the spring is around the corner!

I can relate. During the winter I get long sleeve t-shirts/polo necks from the likes of uniqlo and I don't mind spraying and washing them after one use. I wouldn't want to have to wash jackets, cashmere jumpers, puffers, coats, good shirts, dresses and some scents are impossible to get rid off from clothes.

The blind buy I am not going to do anymore myself, as it's just wasteful and a lot of times I get sick of perfume by the time I use up 10ml. So sample first, 10ml travel or decant use up in full, then consider anything bigger.

QueefofSheena · 27/10/2024 08:24

This week I will be trying to get through a roller bottle of Santal Rose 31. It’s from an advent last year so the clock is ticking.

If I get any further oils or roll on perfume I’m going to sell on straight away. I end not using them and it’s just a waste.

IDontHateRainbows · 27/10/2024 10:46

I'm not a fan of rollerballs. I need a good spritz!

hughiedoesntfight · 27/10/2024 11:22

Simon’s nest perfume oil in caramel apples today. Perfect for a Sunday.

Started my perfume spreadsheet last night. I am going perfume shopping in a few weeks and want to be able to make notes so that I remember each one when I get home. And add to my Christmas list. Hoping to pick 1 or 2 that day.

Theres 33 so far. Hoping once I narrow it down to autumn/winter ones it reduces quite a lot. Or it’s going to be a long day!

IDontHateRainbows · 27/10/2024 11:30

Mojave ghost for me today. Out with a big gathering for Sunday lunch so wanted something subtle that wouldn't smell out the whole table. I swear I'm getting nose blind though, seem to need more and more to smell anything

AprilLady · 27/10/2024 11:44

@Stowickthevast I’m also rather fond of Synthetic Jungle, but you’ve inspired me to wear my all time favourite green, stems and all perfume today: Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’eau. This is green rose done beautifully.

the weather is getting colder, this will have impact. I HATED VB Portofino in the summer as it felt way too strong and it is perfect for now. Mojave Ghost is gorgeous but gentle and it's perfect for meal & office but won't cut it through the cold if I am out and about.

Sea water sprays helps if you have seasonal sneezing/blocked nose frequently and allegedly some perfumers use it to keep their noses healthy.

Thanks, I think I am just nose blind from dousing myself in scent every day! After a period of not working for a few months I start a new job next week so will need to tone it down for the office! Luckily I will have some wfh days once settled in.
