I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

I also tried rose of no man's land. Not usually a rose fan but I liked this one
It's not overpoweringly floral and there a pepperiness underneath.

Oh god I'm going to want to buy bottles of them all!!

Lurkingshark · 24/10/2024 12:57

Thanks @IDontHateRainbows I think I’ll have a punt on the byredo and gift or sell some on- or keep them.

Now to join in the actual thread, I’m wearing Granada Jardim Real from a recent Liberty beauty drop. Not my usual as jasmine is a funny one but I enjoy the change.

QueefofSheena · 24/10/2024 15:27

Today I’m wearing Molecule 01 plus Iris from the Space NK GWP. I really like it, it’s a light fresh scent. I wear the original but I don’t like the black tea one so I’m happy that this one suits me more.

last night I tried a sample of Jovay’s Remember Me. I didn’t like it at all, reminded me of liquid amoxicillin 😁

evtheria · 24/10/2024 15:33

Today was Dirty by Lush (spearmint, sandalwood, and tarragon), which is one of my 'comfortable' scents I can spray on without thinking too much about, ie whether it suits how I feel, is right for the day, etc.
A lady in the queue said "oh, it's you that smells fresh!" which was great considering we were at a botanical garden Grin

TheLongRider · 24/10/2024 17:14

I tried a sample of Barenia from Hermes yesterday. On me it's a beast, I could still smell it 10 hours later. It smells like a honeyed fruity floral even though honey is not one of the notes. It's nice but not me.

MiaN · 24/10/2024 19:17

Barnia didn't impress me either

Sample sets I have tried - so many!

The wrose was fugazzi, I spend half of the time thinking who thought this smells good enough to put in bottle and sell it to people! They had largish set and the full amount goes against purchase but I did not have a single one I like even a tiny bit.

Dedcool didn't impress, so did Rosie Jane and Malin and Goetz. Great candles but didn't love the perfumes. I was expecting more from Phlur. I was also expecting more from room 1015.

Giardini di Toscana - I bought Bianco Latte full bottle but got tired of it after 2 uses. I did enjoy the sample set but didn't lead to any happy purchase.

Tocca is just ok, as well as 7 virtues. I enjoy the sets more then any of the above and have few 20ml Tocca and 1 50ml 7 virtues but wouldn't repurchase any of them.

I didn't buy any bottles after MFK either but I feel this is more preferance than anything - my son is huge fan.

Commodity is interesting but my skin chemistry didn't work with them too wel. Milk, Gold and Moss were my favorites form the range - they do good sales buy one get one for example

Floral street was good surprise for me as I had sample set years ago and hated all of them but the newest - Arizona Bloom, Sunflower Pop became full bottles. I have Sweet Almond Blossom too it's sweet floral.

Ellis Brookin had some gems, I like Florist (smells like you have just walked in flower shop, great for the spring) and Myth is great freshy.

Victoria Beckham has only 3 - now 4 end up loving one Portofino

Parfums de Marley - I did not like most but the one I loved - I LOVE!!

I enjoyed Killian with apple brandy, angel's share and intoxicated being favourites - they know how to do boozy scents! This was nice set

DS Durga I am still going through.

Byredo was one of the best, i end up wanting two full size and have few on the maybe list.

I have large Bon Parfumer set and I love it but more trying to learn notes then thinking of buying them. However the most recent one I would love to smell!

And of course advent calendars- I had Jo Malone and Penhaligon's 2023 and loved both.

I have BDK, Sana Jardin, Replica sample sets to try at home and Goldfield and Banks on my wishlist and maybe Frederic Malle too. Did someone say Ellis Harris is great too?

I love sample set, I get one very few months.

MiaN · 24/10/2024 19:35

I meant Miller Harris

Lurkingshark · 24/10/2024 20:12

Wow @MiaN this was really helpful to get a nice feel and breadth. I can see why it’s a fun thing to have a few every few months. Thank you for the post.

I wondered about floral street and Replica MM, and some of the above brands are new snd will go on the list! I have some samples which I enjoying to do an elongated test.

my local SpaceNK have a decent fragrance section and a very nice few assistants whlove fragrance. I tested some phlur, dedcool and malin and Goetz, none of which I liked - and Replica which I did like. My sister got cra/yon which I nicked a bit. I did like a lot of boy smells candles but I think the brand is out of favour a bit so can’t find in person samples so easily.

But byredo is on its way…24 to play with is very exciting, even if many get regifted.

TheLongRider · 24/10/2024 20:41

I'm also a big fan of Miller Harris perfumes, some can become a bit one note - Poirier d'un Soir just becomes alcoholic pear on me. I do like L'Air du Rien, the Lost & Found scents. Citron Citron and La Pamplemousse are great citrus perfumes. The house style does sour, vegetable, green notes really well.

IDontHateRainbows · 25/10/2024 05:51

In a break from the Byredo, I tried the Vyrao Mamajuju last night from my space nk gwp and LOVED it. Earthy, spicy scent. Annoyingly it's not in the vyrao large sampler set which is next on my list, but I probably have enough samples for now.

I like the Vyrao brand although wasn't sure about witchy woo. Had it as a sample from space Xmas fragrance box and was going to sell it but may hold it back for personal use.

MiaN · 25/10/2024 06:37

I have one Boy Smells - Rose Load travel from space nk advent and I remember liking it a lot last year. I will try using it again in the spring

Witchy woo is strange one. I don't love it but keep wanting to sniff the tester strip

I will rob Naxos form my son's room today. This is one from recent advent calendars and 3 of us wanted. I would buy bigger bottle at some stage but need to properly test it for a day to make sure the tobacco notes listed don't sneak up on me

MiaN · 25/10/2024 06:51

Dessert Down opening was great but dried down very dry paper type of scent on my skin. I think the mix with lingering JL Ginger Biscuit was particularly nice but I am not going to be adding it to my wishlist.

I have good few perfume bottles already and I said over next 12 months no more than 4 bottles over 30m or 50 euro starting this month, this will make me more picky! This is my first month, so far so good.

Edited

I have tried Rose Load and quite like it. Hinoki Fantome was in the space Xmas set this year, it's another 'do I like it or do I not' one that I can't quite decide!

Quite like this brand but I think they gave had their day abd other brands are more popular now.

MiaN · 25/10/2024 09:41

I think this will happen to many brands and now classic designer brands are also stepping in to sell (often overpriced) perfumes. People buy more perfume then ever but this won't last long term.

For those who sell fragrances on ebay/etsy - is there way to estimate shipping cost? Any good swap groups?

I ship by royal mail 2nd class large letter if it fits through the sizer ( samples/ flat things) at £1.55

Anything bigger goes Yodel for £2.24

Clippyklop · 25/10/2024 09:59

StormingNorman · 14/07/2024 17:05

Clarins Eau Dynamisante

Is that a perfume ? I thought it was a toner

Clippyklop · 25/10/2024 10:01

Celine dion Sensational. I think it's been discontinued?

QueefofSheena · 25/10/2024 10:21

Floral Street, Wild Vanilla Orchid today (The clone of Poets of Berlin)

IDontHateRainbows · 25/10/2024 10:42

Tried Byredo Mohave Ghost today from the scent library. I can see why it's popular..clean, almost vanilla ( but not vanilla) scent. So that's a yes from me.

Interestingly, spritzed rose of no man's land again and didn't like it half as much this time! Essentially I don't think I'm a Rose fan.

evtheria · 25/10/2024 11:49

I sell my unused samples in bundles - anything from 5 to 20 at a time, depends on what I have and what they are. EG. if it's by niche or higher end brands, it'll be a smaller bundle - sometimes 'similar note family' etc. Or it could be a dozen standard brand scents for women. A bundle means buyers don't mind paying the postage for a small card box, which prevents breakage. I think via Yodel it's around £2.50.

I have done the cheaper, large letter thing but I wanted to tape a few glass vials between 2 layers of bubble wrap, and it wouldn't fit through the sizer at post office, so I don't consider it anymore.

When you create an eBay listing it will come up with the letter/parcel size and choices of courier, so you can see the costs there and make a note for future sales.

Green777 · 25/10/2024 13:52

Is there a place you can buy genuine perfume samples? I’ve bought a few expensive ones on eBay and they definitely weren’t genuine!

MiaN · 25/10/2024 16:08

I tried Aqua di Parma Oud & Zagara and that's another to go to my son's collection if he wants it. It's very masculine on my skin

I quite like it for every day. I’ve got a few FS from advents and beauty boxes, all in 10ml. I’m not sure I’d buy a large size of any though. I also have Poets of Berlin from last year’s Liberty AC, Wild Vanilla Orchid is very similar.
