Please help me find a wow dress for a destination wedding

I am going to a wedding In Cyprus in June and looking for some suggestions on a dress. I have over the past 8 months lost 6 stone and hoping to lose another stone by the time the wedding comes around. I'm looking for a wow dress! There will be people there that I haven't seen since the weight loss and I want to make a great impression.
I'm open to all suggestions, however I need to have sleeves to cover the top of my arms. I don't want to wear any cover up so would definitely need a dress with sleeves.
Budget around £100. Cant be yellow as this is the bridesmaids colour. I'm not keen on all the floral prints that are around at the moment. Would like it slightly fitted on the top as I am a pear shape with a small waist and wider hips. Blonde hair and in my early 40s.
Thanks

I suppose it depends on what you mean by a "wow" dress. On your budget I'd look at Sister Jane.
Sister Jane

or possibly Heritage Clothing

Thank you I will have a look at these suggestions.
When I say a wow dress I suppose I just mean a statement dress.

Congratulations on your weight loss! You'll need something light for a wedding in Cyprus. Dresses with sleeves are notoriously difficult to find, how short are you prepared to go?

Remember: whatever you wear will be a statement as you've lost 7 stone!

EdnaAlGaib · 17/04/2024 09:01

I think this is lovely. Slightly over your budget but I think would be really flattering on you

Thank you for your lovely comments. I am happy to have short sleeve, bardot etc. I just need the tops of my arms covered. Have seen some beautiful dresses however they are all strappy and no good.

Thank you. I love the colour but not sure I'm keen on the dress.

Have you looked at Roman Originals ?

https://www.roman.co.uk/dresses

They are for 40+ so you get a lot of sleeves, half sleeves and cape style and the prices are very good as well

There are a number of options on here, especially Ganni. This is a little over budget.

I like the simplicity of this, especially in the heat. Add a beautiful straw hat.

They are for 40+

Absolute masterclass in making me furious before the day has properly begun.

I had no bloody idea there were age labels on grown women’s clothes.

MetaDaughter · 17/04/2024 10:18

That Ganni dress is wonderfully light and simple and the back makes it elegant. (But I have no clue at all about wedding fashion in Cyprus so have nothing useful to add.)

Someone got out of bed the wrong side this morning

Take a chill pill

Its been stated on these boards more then enough that Roman clothes are made for the more mature woman in mind, more material, better cuts, sleeves etc, the stuff I want when buying a dress for an occasion without breaking the bank

Some people look to get offended for sure

That dress pictured is awful and definitely not a statement or wow dress. None of the Roman dresses are. I’m mid 40’s and have never shopped or will ever shop at Roman’s

ghislaine · 17/04/2024 10:59

What is your style/style of the wedding?

Beach, upmarket hotel, traditional church etc?

What length of dress are you thinking of?

Janetime · 17/04/2024 11:04

Stunned at the clothes people are recommending , particularly the frumpy romans stuff.

i have this, it’s lovely on, works for a pair as the skirt is a line and would be good in the heat and work for a wedding.

<Enters ring> 🥊

I saw this recently and would enjoy wearing it over the Summer - including to weddings. So on a £100 budget I’d look to see where I might hire it. And I guess it might turn up pre-owned as well. (I’m over 60, not tall, optimistic size 10. Pretty sure there’s no age label at the back.)

Monsoon have nice occasion dresses. In Cyprus, dresses wedding guests would wear tend to be more distinct occasion dresses, embroidered, sequins or more luxurious fabrics.
Short and very light fabrics would probably be best.
Here are two very different dresses, one is maxi but I think it would be very flattering and quite light.

Thank you. The pink monsoon one may be a contender!

Thank you for the reccomendations so far. Not really seen anything that stands out to me except maybe the monsoon dress. For reference I usually like shops such as Zara, river island and AX paris. I'm now a size 10/12 with my bottom half being wider.
The wedding will be quite laid back and on the beach.

@disTrusstInLiz

You see I much prefer the Roman dresses to the sister Jane ones someone suggested which look terribly frumpy to me. The heritage dresses have lovely patterns but styles are odd.

We all like different things.

Absolutely this! Clothes for 40+. What in the name of Mary Portas is that about. Might as well give up any idea of having any originality and instead live out the rest of my days in sensible, floral, knee length garments. 😂

GelatoPistacchio · 17/04/2024 13:26

I think the PP just meant 40+ was the target market, not that there should be legislation passed enforcing every 40+ woman to shop there 🙄

How about this (though a bit over budget): https://www.wolfandbadger.com/uk/the-hebe-embellished-wrap-dress-with-tie-waist-and-flutter-sleeve/

I'll be 65. I wouldn't buy anything from Roman.

I don't understand why there needs to be "target market" age group.
