Please help me find a wow dress for a destination wedding

I am going to a wedding In Cyprus in June and looking for some suggestions on a dress. I have over the past 8 months lost 6 stone and hoping to lose another stone by the time the wedding comes around. I'm looking for a wow dress! There will be people there that I haven't seen since the weight loss and I want to make a great impression.
I'm open to all suggestions, however I need to have sleeves to cover the top of my arms. I don't want to wear any cover up so would definitely need a dress with sleeves.
Budget around £100. Cant be yellow as this is the bridesmaids colour. I'm not keen on all the floral prints that are around at the moment. Would like it slightly fitted on the top as I am a pear shape with a small waist and wider hips. Blonde hair and in my early 40s.
Thanks

I’m not here for a fight about a dress for a wedding. I’ve offered no negative comments on anyone else’s choices- try being less rude.

I wasn’t rude- it’s all about choosing a suitable dress, and from what I’ve seen, many are criticising the choices of others! It’s a discussion forum

@justalitteon I think your offering from Hope and Ivy might be the closest thing to what the Op had in mind.

But why are they called " The...whatever...". All I can think of is Bloom and Wilds flower bouquets.

Maybe I should have said weird and intense instead- dunno, you’re just a bit much but I can see you like Roman an awful lot so fair enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well that’s rather rude, imo! I am neither weird nor intense.I do like some of Roman’s clothes, but I also like clothes from lots of other sites. I just think some have a downer on Roman and it’s unjustified, and I don’t think I’m alone on that.

It looks nice but it’s all polyester and the price is a lot for that, when similar styles are obtainable from other websites.

Yes it’s polyester - and hand wash only. I am constantly disappointed that brands are going for this type of fabric tbh, it does cheapen the look of the dress which is a shame as it’s a great design.
I think that polyester will be quite hot in Cyprus in summer.

@DailyEnergyCrisis er maybe you should have stopped after your first put down? It's Style and Beauty. Both are in the eye of the beholder. No one put you in charge.

What are you on about? I posted a dress- you felt the need to quote me to “put it down”. You started this weirdness- no idea why.
you like Roman stuff- that’s great! I’m sure it’s lovely gear and makes you look stylish and feels comfortable to wear. I prefer the styles I posted- there’s no need to quote me and slag my choices off because you prefer a different type of style. How’s that helping the op get what she wants for the wedding?
All the best and I’m glad you’re confident in your fashion choices- that’s fab 🙂

Marchintospring · 28/04/2024 23:26

@DailyEnergyCrisis I didn't post any Roman stuff. I think any brand has better and worse clothes in its range.
Disagreeing on style is fine. Carrying on a personal argument with "weird and intense" and " you're a bit much" isn't. The Op just wants the one elusive dress so all options are valid.

Who put you in charge of what’s ok and what’s not ok to say?
And why are you carrying on a personal argument if it’s against your rules? A little bit hypocritical really.

Er ..personal attacks aren't allowed on MN. Not my rules love

I wasn't and I'm not. I was helping out someone else by telling you to stop. Do feel free to get the last word in though.👏

If you’re really upset enough to argue on someone else’s behalf with your community police tabard on why don’t you just report the posts you don’t like?
You're not a fan of continuing personal arguments yet here you are doing it- again, on someone else’s behalf (someone I’m assuming you’ve never met).
You’ve replied to me more than I think I’ve ever replied to anyone on Mumsnet- I do think perhaps the intense comment you weren’t a fan of has struck a bit of a chord. Give it up.

@PrimalLass yes a lovely dress indeed but do we trust pleats when packing for a plane? I don't buy pleats anyway because I'm never sure which fabric holds them and which looks like a dishcloth.

PrimalLass · 01/05/2024 21:04

I have a few pleated skirts and roll them in a sort of figure of 8 for packing.

Marchintospring · 01/05/2024 21:11

Mmm. I am sadly a rubbish packer. Also my clothes a,wats look better before I iron them. It rules out anything meant to look polished.

annlee3817 · 02/05/2024 22:20

Lipsy dresses are my go to for weddings, range of styles, plenty with little sleeves, and flattering to the figure

Helen1625 · 08/08/2024 14:48

Which dress did you go for in the end, OP?
