Please help me find a wow dress for a destination wedding

I am going to a wedding In Cyprus in June and looking for some suggestions on a dress. I have over the past 8 months lost 6 stone and hoping to lose another stone by the time the wedding comes around. I'm looking for a wow dress! There will be people there that I haven't seen since the weight loss and I want to make a great impression.
I'm open to all suggestions, however I need to have sleeves to cover the top of my arms. I don't want to wear any cover up so would definitely need a dress with sleeves.
Budget around £100. Cant be yellow as this is the bridesmaids colour. I'm not keen on all the floral prints that are around at the moment. Would like it slightly fitted on the top as I am a pear shape with a small waist and wider hips. Blonde hair and in my early 40s.
Thanks

I don't understand why there needs to be "target market" age group.

The perils of capitalism, I agree. But probably best to discuss on a separate thread now 🙂

Have you seen some of the clothes targeted at late teens/early twenties. They are tiny (and usually quite cheap looking). Probably because they know a lot of younger people are looking at quantity over quality.

A few ideas:

Blue midi dress

Green satin dress

Pink satin midaxi dress

Pink satin midi dress

Oh I get that but that's an extreme example.

When OP says she wants a dress with sleeves why do people suggest sleeveless dresses? Or are you thinking she might say "I really like this shape/style/colour if only it had sleeves"?

Congratulations on your weight loss! You'll need something light for a wedding in Cyprus. Dresses with sleeves are notoriously difficult to find, how short are you prepared to go?

Remember: whatever you wear will be a statement as you've lost 7 stone!

OP- There are loads of occasion dresses with sleeves. Try Frock and Frill,Monsoon, Next, Coast etc you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Have you looked at Roman Originals ?

https://www.roman.co.uk/dresses

They are for 40+ so you get a lot of sleeves, half sleeves and cape style and the prices are very good as well

I don’t think it states anywhere that Roman is for 40+ ! They suit any age! The only thing with them is they are often too long . The models all seem to be over 5’9”!

Hi Op, have a look at Free People there are some lovely dresses on there.

PrimalLass · 17/04/2024 15:06

I was obsessing over lots on the Maison Hotel website. Might be a bit over budget but you will need light natural fabrics for Cyrus in June.

Proper hideous!!

UnpickThePockets · 17/04/2024 15:32

The two cape dresses are great, especially the red one.

A Cypriot wedding will see A LOT of glamour, full length, ‘gowns’ as opposed to dresses. Go big OP!

Stay away from the heinous Roman site.

Hi op, having gone to a hot island wedding last year I'd be very careful with fabric choice and colour, as sweat patches are a big thing.
I'd suggest opting for either a floaty fabric or if it's tight, a pattern as block colours in clinging fabrics will show off a sweaty back beautifully 😂

maz82 · 17/04/2024 15:39

Thank you for all of the suggestions. It is quite difficult for me at the moment to find my style! The Club London dresses are amazing and would definitely be on my list for a black tie event. Think they are slightly too dressy (and warm) for a beach wedding. Love the style though!

Sorry if you hate these OP! I'm a similar age and size to you. Girl in mind have loads of midi dresses with sleeves in all sorts of colours and prints, one example above but there are many more if you like the style but not the print..i love this lipsy one, simple but stunning colour

It will be hot in June so you'll need something cool and pick colours and materials that won't show sweat.
