Please help me find a wow dress for a destination wedding

I am going to a wedding In Cyprus in June and looking for some suggestions on a dress. I have over the past 8 months lost 6 stone and hoping to lose another stone by the time the wedding comes around. I'm looking for a wow dress! There will be people there that I haven't seen since the weight loss and I want to make a great impression.
I'm open to all suggestions, however I need to have sleeves to cover the top of my arms. I don't want to wear any cover up so would definitely need a dress with sleeves.
Budget around £100. Cant be yellow as this is the bridesmaids colour. I'm not keen on all the floral prints that are around at the moment. Would like it slightly fitted on the top as I am a pear shape with a small waist and wider hips. Blonde hair and in my early 40s.
Thanks

The boohoo jumpsuit is lovely! 🙂 I am not even that keen on the dress I suggsted TBH, I liked the colour but I wouldn't order it. I struggled to find something that I interpreted to fit her brief, it's quite specifec dress ,must have sleeves and no florals. This narrows down a lot of typical wedding occasion dresses, but if she's open to jumpsuits then I've seen some lovely ones!

This thread has shown the difference between posting in style and beauty and AIBU. It's refreshing to see lots of suggestuons being posted, without being slated too much.

If it had been posted in the other thread you would have been accused of wanting to seek attention and disgraced for wanting to upstage the bride 🙄oh and everyone hates boohoo

Yes to be fair my choice was unsuitable for a hot beach wedding but
a) I just got it and wanted to show it to the rest of you (😁) and

b) it's a different maker to the normal suspects, they have other dresses if you like their style and it's cotton for under £100.

MetaDaughter · 18/04/2024 08:17

It’s true that if one is attending a beach wedding it’s probably helpful to include that information in the OP!

This is cute and would show off your weight loss:

Love this!

I didnt pick the picture captured, it came with the link, so whats with the bashing????

I know you didn’t select that particular dress, it’s just the one that comes up when you pasted the link for all dresses. However it is an indication of what Romans has to offer and why I went on say that none of their dresses are wow.

I'll be 65. I wouldn't buy anything from Roman.

I'm early 30s and have found some lovely stuff on Roman. Never bought anything though, but I've seen things I like

Deadlinesaredickheads · 18/04/2024 10:14

Op have you considered getting one of the otherwise perfect dresses you've seen and have sleeves added?

I love finding new brands on S&B threads. Also interesting to see how different people interpret a brief and what people this is appropriate etc.

Sometimes the suggestions are completely wild!

Jones3A · 18/04/2024 11:42

Or finding a brand you love from all the great suggestions you've had so far, that's over budget, and then heading to Vinted?

Like this for example, from my favourite Farm Rio...

Farm Rio Dress Size S

Worn once. Size S. Excellent condition. From pet and smoke free home.

& Other Stories

have several linen dresses, plain no pattern, with sleeve, under budget.

You will feel like a boil in the bag meal in anything polyester.

I have just bought this dress https://metamorphoza.com/collections/dresses-1/products/oversize-shirt-dress for a wedding in Wales.

It arrived today ( took 12 days in total as it's from Europe). It's absolutely stunning. Beautifully made, packaged, nice than you note and gift.

If it's too much they do other lovely dresses. You won't see you hips in this one and the top is lower than it looks in the photos I think.

Red dress

I think this is fantastic. I might have to buy one!

Free people do the boho beach wedding look better than most - lots of floaty dresses with sleeves on offer e.g.

maz82 · 18/04/2024 13:00

I would consider a jumpsuit and this is beautiful. Will be adding to my list. Thank you

Speaking as someone who lived through a few New Jersey summers, if it's a beach wedding in Cyprus I'd definitely look at lightweight fabrics like seersucker cotton, silk, cotton-silk blends, tencel etc. An open back will hide sweat patches better. Also plan for hair up, it will hide sweat and frizz better. Have you tried looking on eBay for LK Bennett, Hobbes or Reformation silk dresses? I tend to buy one size up and then get it altered to fit.

Roman is getting a bashing on here, and I don’t understand why. They are no worse than most and better than many!

Certainly different! A giant red puffball, very unflattering!

I don't think that's the kind of dress you wear because it's flattering. It's the kind of dress you wear to draw attention to the dress, like art. In essence, the dress is wearing you.

Nice work if you can get it; people who can get away with dressing like that are the ones who don't need to worry about "flattering" because nothing will make their hips look wide or their stomach look fat or whatever. I'm not one of those people, sadly.

Marchintospring · 18/04/2024 17:05

@Bignanna actually it does seem to be! The bottom half hides a pear shape and distracts from any tummy, whilst the more structured top half seem to tone everything with a hint of décolleté . It's lovely cotton and quite wafty.

If you can get away with red. It's very red.
Will also be my Christmas dress. And Valentines dress.
