I've just found a lovely pair of
Fit really well
None see through
Absolutely love them
Apparently they aren't in fashion tho which is making me question them
Are they that bad ?
I was thinking with sandals and a tee in summer
Just a basic outfit

I think you look great in them, wear them!

If skinny jeans are so out of fashion, why are the shops still full them? If something is really out of style, shops stop selling them completely, but that’s simply not the case with skinny jeans. Sure, there are wide leg trousers in stores too, and combat trousers and various other styles. It’s about personal choice…Wear what you like and feel comfortable in.

Exactly skinny jeans are everywhere

So are over inflated lips and thick fringe lashes.
Doesn't mean they are in fashion

They are though

Just because you do tike them doesn't.make jeans lips or lashes out of fashion

@ichundich

But there is a difference between clinging to your 1980s style 40 years later and following every fleeting jeans trend that the fashion world dictates. 2 years ago we had mom jeans, then cropped, now wide legs. When jeans are some of the most durable item of clothing that exists.
Explain the difference please.

As someone said, Princess Diana rocked skinny white jeans. She died in 1997. She wore white skinny jeans 30 years ago.

Skinny jeans are making a return in some circles. That's a whole fashion cycle. It's like people who clung on desperately to shoulder pads from the 80s citing the return of the shoulder pad as proof that they were always in fashion. Ditto bell bottom jeans or platform boots.

People can see the issue of clinging on to a style when it is a style that took place before their time like someone sticking to 80s fashions but struggle to see it's the same thing when THEY are now the ones clinging to a dated style all the while insisting they are a classic.

Only on mumsnet are skinny jeans still the height fashion, and anyone who says different is wrong wrong wrong.

Do some posters have shares in skinny jeans or something? Why does it bother people so much that they are out of fashion? It’s really weird.

Wht does it bother you so much that they think they are

W0rkerBee · 16/04/2024 09:09

Wow, didn'tmost posters say "they look a bit too tight". I am in my 50s and would prefer a looser look now. Where are all the posts from posters with shares in skinny jeans!?

I think sometimes though, people can assess, this look is not in fashion anymore but I'm going to wear it anyway.

Mumsnet are fiercely defensive of skinny jeans I've noticed.

Ppl can wear what they like ..some people simply cannot get away with white skinny jeans they don't suit everyone

@TunaCrunchy I don't like the wide leg trend either
I don't suit baggy either
I've got a small frame and anything baggy makes me look ill

Same here.
Plus I'm way too old to care about what's in fashion or not.
I just feel lucky that I still have my slim figure and look good in skinny jeans....... at my advanced age.
Just make sure you choose appropriate footwear:
Ankle boots, ballet flats, sandals - not trainers.
And shortish tops.
If you've got it, flaunt it!

GoodlifeGlow · 16/04/2024 09:21

I think when you have a good figure it’s really tempting to keep wearing tight fitting clothes but fashion has moved on and a bit more fabric looks more modern.

As previous posters have said they are too skin tight and look dated. If you want the skinny look a slim fit with a bit more fabric would look more modern.

I see it as the opposite - post after post on MN saying they are all wearing flares or wide legs. But that isn't what I see in real life.

My point above regarding only ever seeing under 25s in the wider legs was that where I live, older women all seem to have stuck with their skinnies. Or the straight leg ones that wrinkle down your leg . A poster commented about under 25s being more 'fashion forward' - yes of course, I get that. But I'm not even seeing women in their 30s in wide legs. Perhaps it will change when the summer comes and people are want looser clothing .

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 16/04/2024 09:39

I actually replaced my skinnies with more of a slim leg a couple of years back as my previous skinnies no longer fit. This winter though, I've gone back to skinny jeans and I think they look better . I get the dated bit though as it's the same silhouette I was wearing a few years back .

ilovepixie · 16/04/2024 10:08

If you like them wear them. Who cares if they are on trend or not! Be an individual not a sheep!

User155 · 16/04/2024 12:09

White skinny jeans are all the rage in the countryside among the teens/20s/30s. Usually worn with dubarrys or fairfax and favor. Google the Game Fair and you’ll see how popular they are.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 16/04/2024 12:11

I like them if they're not too tight

You're welcome. They're nice but wouldn't suit my stumpy chunky legs

This country look is hardly high fashion. Its a very specific niche look that isn't renown your it's modernity. You can find pictures of princess Kate wearing this look 20 years ago

Where do you live? I see women from 16-50 around me wearing wide leg, carrot and slouchy jeans. The only people I see wearing skinnies are umm, from the estate.
In fact if you were to look at the Venn diagram of trout pout, Russian lashes and skinny jeans it would almost perfectly overlap

BrendaSmall · 16/04/2024 17:22

I don’t like them and they look very tight on you, maybe try straight leg instead of skinny

Nicetobenice7 · 16/04/2024 17:33

Girl if you like them wear them that's all that really matters ...it matters not what joe blogs thinks you look great In them

I'm guessing I live on the estate 🤣.
Small town in the midlands.
I'm actually in Birmingham at the moment so shall have a good look at everyone's legs !!

BirtyDird · 16/04/2024 18:51

If you want to be stylish , no.

If you don't care about trends and feel good in them, wear them. I was a skinny girl queen but just found a pair of wide legs that I love, it did take a lot of trial and error to find a pair that fit nicely though!

For white skinnys I think you have to be super skinny to pull them off, you do look slim from your photo and if you feel great, go for it
