I've just had the worst haircut

The images I showed him and what he did.

He's cut it all round like a fucking page boy cut.

I told him I didn't like it and showed him the photos and that it's long at the front, it's passed the jaw!

I'm so upset. My hair was passed my shoulders and I've felt really horrible lately and wanted to feel better.

I feel so fucking ugly :(

I actually don't dislike your cut - I think it looks quite edgy and up-to-date. But I get why you're not happy if you wanted the front below your chin.

Is it French? 😂

It’s nothing the like the photos but it’s actually quite funky!

Flockameanie · 04/03/2024 16:23

Might it have been that your hair wouldn't have worked in that cut? I asked my hairdresser for a really blunt bob once and he said it wouldn't work on my hair.

doubleshotcappuccino · 04/03/2024 16:23

I really like it - perhaps it might take a day or two to get used to it ? X

Flockameanie · 04/03/2024 16:24

HairDyin · 04/03/2024 16:23

Is it French? 😂

I think it has the touch of French chic about it, yes!

sprigatito · 04/03/2024 16:24

I see what you mean, but I think your cut looks better than the pictures!

At least you don’t look like a pencil!
Quite like it OP!

DesignForLife01 · 04/03/2024 16:26

I think it’s cute!

SoOutingWhoCares · 04/03/2024 16:27

I'm not going to lie to you and try to patronise you.

I'm assuming it's the 2nd photo?

It's absolutely atrocious and I can't believe you've been sent out of a salon with that haircut. It looks like a toddler with safety scissors has hacked at it.

You need to complain and someone needs to put it right (preferrably not the idiot that hacked at it in the first place). You may need to have a pixie/bixie to rectify it but at least it will grow out better.

I'm so sorry. What a terrible hairdresser.

DesignForLife01 · 04/03/2024 16:27

It won’t take long to grow like the one in the picture.

Ledl54 · 04/03/2024 16:27

Don’t the samples have whisper, finer hair? I like it too, reckon it’s just change shock!

Prawncow · 04/03/2024 16:28

I don’t think it’s awful at all. Give it a few days. It might not be exactly what you expected but once you’ve washed, dried and styled it you might like it.

I told him it wanst what I asked for and he didn't charge me.

I have ADHD and I hate the hairdressers so I really don't want to go back. I'm too embarrassed

In the top picture where you have the sticker over your face, I think that's a case of your hair not being well-styled. I think the cut in that picture does look quite similar-ish to what you asked for. But it needs a bit of messing with to get it looking spot on.

The picture when you show the wispy bits on your neck - that doesn't look at all like what you've asked for. But, like other PPs, I really like it.

I think it looks really modern and different. I really like it.
And its only hair - it'll grow back.

Beamur · 04/03/2024 16:32

It's a completely different shape on the sides to the photo. You're quite right to be annoyed.
But - wash it, style it yourself and leave it at least ,2 weeks before you do anything else. It may look much better and less disappointing by then.
We've all had at least one terrible haircut. I have cried at least twice because of how dreadful it looked.

Tracker1234 · 04/03/2024 16:34

Honestly it will grow. I had a bad haircut about 18 months ago and I should have known better at my age. Hairdresser wanted it to be French chic and it was truly awful. I have hair in good condition and its got no grey. I at least want it a little bit flexible and he cut it so short it looked stupid. I had to go back because of the fuzzy bits he left at the back. I stayed with the same salon but avoid this hairdresser who often gives me dirty looks when I go there.

Namechangeforname · 04/03/2024 16:38

Poor you. I have had an experience like this and I was really down about it.
I think it could look really nice once the ends are tidied up/softened, as they do look really blunt and jagged in your second photo (sorry ☹️).
But agree with the pp who said leave it for a couple of weeks first.
Well done for speaking out to the hairdresser though!! I daren’t say anything until I left. How did he react?

SOxon · 04/03/2024 16:40

OP, in the first pic of a young girl, the hair looks like a wig - yours will look better when you have washed it. Shorter hair often needs a weekish to settle. It will grow (obviously) I think it looks ok, chic, French, very Juliette Binoche, very a la mode.

He was OK about it. He didn't charge me and said if it's layered you can't have the front long 🤔

I think you're gonna have to play around with styling it. The other images have definitely been styled that won't just be dried normally, so have a go. The cut isn't great though so I do sympathise.

IDontHateRainbows · 04/03/2024 16:52

I had a hair-dont a few months ago. Hated it at first, then I kind of tolerated it, I had a trim at a different hairdresser at the weekend ( still growing out the shite-cut) and now I kinda like it.

3 months

And most of that time you'll just learn to live with it and know it's temporary

Iusedtobeapenguin · 04/03/2024 16:55

I think it's not as bad as you think - as others have said, you just need to really play around with styling it. Have a go at scrunch drying it with some product in to juzz it up a bit. Then maybe try straightening it to see how it goes. I actually quite like it.

Pardonnezmoimadame · 04/03/2024 16:56

Had a similar experience recently- don’t worry, it grows back and you’ll be at the required length in a few weeks.

i think it looks good now.

nothing ventured, nothing gained. This is always a risk when you get a new style
