I've just had the worst haircut

He's cut it all round like a fucking page boy cut.

I told him I didn't like it and showed him the photos and that it's long at the front, it's passed the jaw!

I'm so upset. My hair was passed my shoulders and I've felt really horrible lately and wanted to feel better.

I feel so fucking ugly :(

Wait a minute, what do you mean you told him you didn’t like it? I didn’t know that was an option. I thought we all understood that you say “yeah it’s lovely, thanks!” whilst dying a little bit inside, pay and then go home and cry?

The problem taking photo in, is that often the hair has been styled and then the person is upset when they can't create the same style at home.

Having said that, I do agree that the cut doesn't look great, it is edgy but its also very uneven in parts, and I wouldn't be happy with it either. It only hair though and it will grow back, this is only a temporary state

I agree your hair is a mess! If you go back they’ll make it worse. Go to another hairdresser and ask them to fix it. It needs to be more feathery and a better shape. It’ll end up a bit shorter but hopefully a decent style that you can live with.

I had a bad experience last year - was supposed to get highlights but it was really uneven, some parts were caramel while others bits were almost white blonde! So I went to a different hairdresser who recommended cutting off as much as possible and dying the rest with a wash-out colour until all the bleach has grown out. I went from chest length hair to a 3 inch crop! I cried for days. But now I’m actually enjoying having a crop for a change, it’s not something I’d have chosen but it’s different for a while. Maybe you’ll end up with something that you like even though you wouldn’t have chosen it.

I love it. It’s really suits what I can see of you and you can really funk it up when you feel like it or going out. It’s so refreshing from boring old shoulder length hair that just gets put into a ponytail.

If I put it behind my ears (might need to get some clips and try and ignore the long bits I can wait for it to grow a little.

I can feel your pain that it’s not at all what you asked for, but I actually don’t think it’s awful. It looks pretty good like this.

If your hairdresser thought your hair type couldn’t take this sort of cut, he should have said so, made suggestions etc so you could decide what to do. I think has done a very poor job and is hoping to get away with it - hence no charge. It’s suits you much better tucked behind your ears and if will quickly grow into a softer look but I can understand why you are upset. Well done for saying something though!

I never take photos in as I think it’s impossible to recreate a similar cut depending on hair texture, thickness etc.
I hate cutting in/ razor cutting whatever it’s called where they thin the hair out.

I don’t think it looks that bad to be honest, I think he’s tried to emulate the cut but has taken too much off the length and cut in too much. It’ll look better in a couple of weeks.

And you know what? It's true.

I’ve dealt with the pain of these things before by distracting myself with grips and headbands. More for the fussing with it making me feel better than anything.

It looks lovely tucked behind your ears, I really like it like that. I think a cool hairband would look good too.

I wonder if you need some product and a pair of straighteners followed by something like salt spray to give it the tousled look you're after. I don't this it's a terrible cut but I think it needs styling.

It looks nice behind your ears. Pps are so right that two weeks makes a big difference to a haircut.

I had a haircut once that was done entirely with a razor blade no scissors. I had all those wispy bits doing nothing that you have but I’m sure it was worse than yours. The next day I went to a hairdresser across the road who cut all he wispy bits off and then it looked like a bowl but was marginally better.

I would live with it for a couple of weeks and see how you go.

It’s not far off, I think it just needs a bit more feathering around the front? Its cool.
