Nude or black shoes with this dress

I am wearing this dress to an evening do, probably with some sort of shawl or coverup as it won’t be warm.

i have some black platform sandals that don’t look too bad with it, but not sure if nude may be better? And any ideas what to coverup with?! I’ve not been to anything like this in years 😫

I once read on here that bright colours and black don’t work, it ‘cheapens’ one or the other, can’t remember which. I thought at the time it was bunkum, but sadly have completely come round to agreeing. Irritating really.

I think black, v dependent on the shoe, could bring down a pretty dress like that. What shawl are you wearing with it?

If you are buying new I would throw gold into the mix.

if they are shoes you already own I would choose nude.

I nearly always say black shoes but this is one of the rare cases I'd pick nude shoes instead.

Nude if you already have a pair, gold of you're going to get some new ones. I don't think the black would work as well.

Nude would look better with a dress in this colour, I would say.

I like court shoes myself, but appreciate that some people might see them as old fashioned.

As a cover up, that might depend on how you are travelling.

If it's not public transport and you are jumping into the car at home and then walking just a few yards into the venue, after parking, could a nice pashmina work?
