Nude or black shoes with this dress

Stumpedasatree · 20/01/2024 10:14

I am wearing this dress to an evening do, probably with some sort of shawl or coverup as it won’t be warm.

i have some black platform sandals that don’t look too bad with it, but not sure if nude may be better? And any ideas what to coverup with?! I’ve not been to anything like this in years 😫

No question- nude or a neutral metallic. Will make your legs look fabulous. Black will look too clompy in my opinion. (In my previous incarnation as a personal shopper opinion too!)

christmasstollen · 25/01/2024 15:22

Totally agree they should be nude or metallic, black will look blocky and ageing (yes yes I know nothing wrong with ageing etc!)

AntiStuff · 25/01/2024 17:13

Silver or gold. Nude are vile and black will look clunky.

Isitautumnyet23 · 25/01/2024 17:42

I’d go nude/gold bag and shoes.

Matronic6 · 25/01/2024 22:39

I always wear gold with teal. But if only option is nude or black definitely nude.

Herculeaneffort · 26/01/2024 07:45

Definitely gold with a gold clutch. Try new look wide sandals. Black is too heavy. Drape a coat over your shoulders cream if you have any.

ACourseInstead · 26/01/2024 08:29

I’d go for a bright coral or pink. Nude be better than black.

I think those are a bit stodgy looking.

Stodgy is sometimes necessary for some people who simply struggle with heels of any sort
thats me, some of ones people have come up with are stiletto basically- even a 1/2 inch stiletto is too much for me- it’s width of heel and stability of heel and ball of foot that’s needed

OP, if youfeel they’re nice, and you can wear all day without pain and breaking your neck, then go with it. People are :

  1. looking at brides dress
  2. looking at your lovely dress or face - not your feet
  3. nude is best- that way a stodgy shoe will go completely in-noticed by anyone other than fashion police. Black will make them stand out to everyone 😱
Appleofmyeye2023 · 26/01/2024 09:43

Mystified, help me pleae
how do you keep shoes like this on your feet?
mules cause me to bend my toes up at front to try to grasp them on and stop sliding out
with a high heel like that it’d be a broken ankle for sure - I’d slide out and off side in a matter of minutes
some women must have sticky feet to keep shoes on like this😳! Or what is the trick🤷🏼‍♀️
60yars old and mystified by this since 17 years old. Countless turned ankles and tripping by trying to wear them in my early twenties! Gave up then

The OP has ordered some shoes now.

afkonholidaynearleek · 26/01/2024 21:23

Nude with gold accessories will look great

PTSDBarbiegirl · 27/01/2024 16:27

Gold shoes and gold cuff with clutch bag or black same. Nude shoes can look good if you happen to have tanned or dark skin tone.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 27/01/2024 19:06

@Stumpedasatree how did you get on with those metallic M&S kitten heels OP?
I've just returned mine as did absolutely nothing for my legs + uncomfortable too.

wendeigh1971 · 27/01/2024 19:23

Nude in the summer, black/navy in the winter.

Snippit · 27/01/2024 20:19

VenusClapTrap · 20/01/2024 10:41

Nude or gold/silver.

A gold shoe would look lovely. Shein have some beauties. I had a pair for a wedding, so comfortable, along with a gold/silver ish shawl at an amazing price. They also have lovely dressy bags as well.

Stumpedasatree · 28/01/2024 22:07

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 oh that's a shame as I like the M&S heels! I have not worn them properly for the event yet, just tried them on but they seem comfy.

What about a chunky platform sandal in either an accent colour or a metallic? Look at Esska Shoes (insta). Would avoid thin heels which might make the look a bit dated. Don't worry about matching stuff - that seems quite old fashioned now.

champagneplanet · 01/02/2024 12:49

Definitely nude, or a light gold shimmer if you want a bit of sparkle. Nude would be more versatile though.

Lovely dress.
