Just that really, what do you think? Obviously looks much better on a model in the picture. Thank you!

It looks a bit scruffy for me, and I don't like the top panel. I think Hobbs do the best wedding outfits. Have you looked on eBay or vinted? They even do petite.

Search for silk dresses. Lots to choose from and well within budget. I have a tiny frame and they are the best fit for me.

Questions for you @Howmanyroses -

  1. Are you the Bride in this wedding?
  2. Are you in the bridal party in this wedding?

If the answer to either of these questions is YES, then wear the dress.

However, if the answer to either or both of these questions is NO, then don't wear this particular dress.

It is far too pale a colour to be significantly different from a bridesmaid dress (yes, some do ask their BM's to wear short dresses so that they may be able to wear them again) or from a bridal dress for someone who might be a little bit more eclectic in their choice of fashion for their own wedding dress, even more so if the wedding happens to be in a registry office or somewhere other than a church/chapel.

There are literally hundreds of colours out there that you could pick a dress in. Why pick something so close to blush pink/bridal colour?

Hi, thanks...I like the pale colours, and dislike anything too bright, it doesn't suit me. I suppose I could go for something like navy or mint green. The search for the perfect dress continues

LookItsMeAgain · 15/01/2024 09:02

That dress in a pale blue or green or even grey would look better than the pink that it is.

Could you dye it a different colour? Would you be willing to risk the £15 (plus however much dye is) to change it to a different colour?

Sorry. It's just my opinion on it.

IlsSortLaPlupartAuNuitMostly · 15/01/2024 09:04

The problem is that it's impossible to say without seeing the dress on you. There are some really strong dresses which will look great (depending on your taste) regardless of the wearer as long as they basically fit, but I don't think this is one of them.

Mind you I love the peach rosette dress so what do I know. I imagine it would be a nightmare to wear all day though, very much a red carpet dress rather than a queuing for the buffet and waiting for an Uber dress.

howlismoving · 15/01/2024 09:23

I don't agree with other posters who think it's drab - I think it's really pretty and would be perfect for a wedding guest especially in summer! @Howmanyroses

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 15/01/2024 09:34

The whole “too bridal” thing is ridiculous. Unless someone is wearing an actual wedding dress, NO ONE is going to confuse them with the bloody bride.

She’s the one at the front, marrying the groom. Not the one in a knee length pale pink dress 🙄.

Fluffywhitecloudsinthesky · 15/01/2024 09:43

It's not too bridal. Most brides want people to wear light nice clothes in summer! Long white dresses are out, everything else ok. Then I once went to a very trendy winter wedding where everyone was wearing black, so what do I know!

Floisme · 15/01/2024 09:57

It's not my thing but I think it's really pretty and perfectly appropriate. I can't see anything wrong with the colour and I'd strongly advise against trying to dye it - far too many things that could go wrong, especially with the embroidery.

TheSeasonalNameChange · 15/01/2024 12:52

Whatever you do please check photos with flash and a few different filters. Weddings are heavily photographed and pale pink can look like it's white in photos against darker skin or, worse, like you're starkers.

MariaVT65 · 15/01/2024 13:08

I don’t think people are getting your style OP if they are suggesting things like Hobbs.

Garlicnaan · 15/01/2024 13:22

I think it depends on your colouring and size tbh.

I know it's sizeist but I think on someone petite (which you are) with good arms and a smaller bust, and a golden or darker skin tone, could look good in it.

Not the one in a knee length pale pink dress - at the back or the side of the one photograph she appears in and partially obscured anyway.

I am petite, size 8, slim arms, but pale complexion, though will be slightly tanned in the summer. I am a soft summer (if you are into colours) so suit pastels.

Is this you OP? If so you've had a name change fail. I didn't think that was possible any more.

Oops sorry, yes that's me on my phone. Was forced to create another handle as couldn't remember my password!

Your dress is fine! From your description of yourself, petite etc, it's perfect. Some of the other suggestions are ridiculous.
Do YOU like it?
Are YOU comfortable in it?
Can you accessorise it happily?

If yes, yes, and yes - wear it!

diddl · 15/01/2024 18:52

I think it's a lovely dress.

JanewaysBun · 15/01/2024 20:42

It's lovely! Definitely fine

GreatGateauxsby · 14/01/2024 15:31

Shocked by these responses 😅😅

I wouldn’t wear it myself (colour and cut wouldn’t suit me) but I quite like it. If I saw someone a friend wearing it at a wedding I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow.
I think it’s perfectly appropriate and formal enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

That's what I thought! Quite a nice dress (but I'd want a smart cardigan/wrap/shawl because I hate being cold), surprised that it's capable of unleashing so much animosity!

Saz12 · 15/01/2024 21:30

I like it... even though it doesnt suit the (very beautiful) model who just looks a bit sad and droopy in it. I'm sure the stylist, photographer etc will be fascinated by my opinions (ahem).

ladygindiva · 15/01/2024 22:29

It would look shit on me ( short, chunky legs, big boobs) but on someone with a leaner figure like the model it's nice and quirky. I like it. But not on me 🤣

lunepremiere79 · 16/01/2024 09:09

How about this dress? Pure silk, my colours and I think this will be great for summer and won't swamp me. Veronica Damiani, currently sells on Yoox

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/01/2024 11:09

@Dibilnik dresses/outfits for guests aren't supposed to take the limelight from the bride & groom. That would be an amazing dress for a party, but not girls a wedding
