Just that really, what do you think? Obviously looks much better on a model in the picture. Thank you!

How old are you ?

feelingfree17 · 14/01/2024 23:01

Badlands1 That dress is stunning

BasiliskStare · 14/01/2024 23:12

@Howmanyroses I think if you like it it is perfectly appropriate , especially if knee length on you . & for £15 for potentially one wearing - I would do it. I think it is rather pretty.

So from me it's a "yes"

mathanxiety · 14/01/2024 23:39

I like it a lot. I'm casting around for a dress to wear to two upcoming weddings myself, and I would have bookmarked that one if I had seen it.

I dislike the floral frocks that seem to be favored here for weddings.

Really like the dress. Some of the responses scream of bullyish jump on the bandwagon attitude. I wish S&B went back to being nice as before...

This, with bells on.

mathanxiety · 14/01/2024 23:42

TheOriginalFrench · 14/01/2024 19:03

bullying? Bullying?

So now if someone posts a photo of a dress we can only say it’s wonderful?

Fuck me.

S&B is finished …

What is being suggested is that filters, if they exist, should be employed.

Dovewings · 15/01/2024 00:01

If it suits you and flatters your colouring, wear it. It's lovely, not overpowering for a petite woman. Shift dresses are great for petites, Audrey Hepburn wore them.

BobbyBiscuits · 15/01/2024 01:03

I'm afraid it's a no from me. It looks flimsy and not well cut on the model, so it's bound to look worse IRL on a normal person. It may look better on someone with really dark skin ( no idea if this applies to you or not) but I think it's more the quality of the fabric etc. I bet it would look more see through than in the pics.
Also its kind of pale to the point it's a bit too close to white.

Ialwaystry · 15/01/2024 01:08

I like it
If you like it wear it

MariaVT65 · 15/01/2024 01:40

Op just wear your dress :) It’s lovely. If you want to, pair it with a nice bracelet and shoes. You might be having a heatwave then sp just be comfortable. The recent weddings i’ve been to have people a bit more casual as well.

Justia · 15/01/2024 02:20

This is just awful, like that time Jlo was at the globes with a giant bow on her dress. But worse.

Justia · 15/01/2024 02:21

The original dress, I’m not fond of either, but this is maybe personal preference; I don’t think short dresses are ok for weddings. And it’s a bit flimsy/cheap looking.

Anna8089 · 15/01/2024 04:21

I think this is perfect for attending a wedding. Sick of people turning up looking like their going clubbing . This is very pretty .

What is or isn't a nice dress is 100% subjective.

It's not a style I would wear as it's sleeveless and shorter than I would pick.

To answer your question, if you like it, it's fine for a wedding.

On whether it's "a nice dress", whilst it's not a style I would pick, I think it is "a nice dress" . It's a lot "nicer" than many other dresses I've seen on here, but that's just my subjective opinion.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think there's anything unsuitable about it but it's quite light for a wedding in the winter/early spring. If the weddings later in the year I think you've plenty of time to explore options. If it's a real bargain and you can afford it buy it and decide later.

HNY2024 · 15/01/2024 04:49

Depends who is wearing it. A 20 year might get away with something like that, but in general, I think it's a bit too pale and too short for a wedding, esp. on a "grown-up".

RichPetunia · 15/01/2024 05:01

I like it because it's a bit different. If you like it, wear it. It'd be awfully dull if we were all the same 👏🏼

MariaVT65 · 15/01/2024 05:31

A lot of people here moaning it’s too short that clearly haven’t RTFT and seen that OP is petite so the dress is knee length on her.

(I’m 5ft so I get it Op!)

GothConversionTherapy · 15/01/2024 06:18

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 14/01/2024 14:37

It looks over priced even at £40.

I would pay 40 quid not to wear it!
OP I think it's too short and a little bridal with the light color and chiffon bits.

breakfastdinnerandtea · 15/01/2024 07:15

I like it much more than all of the dresses that were posted on here as an alternative!
Do you have a picture of it on? With your face blurred?

Cmon now, there is nothing bridal about that dress.😂

Bluesclues1 · 15/01/2024 07:30

It looks like a flower girl dress

I’m 5’5, wear a lot of dresses that look like “mini” dresses on the models, with their baby giraffe legs, and they are just above the knee for me. (And this dress is just above the knee in the picture, so definitely not at all short.)

AmyTurtleRocks · 14/01/2024 14:35

Sorry but that dress is vile 😁

Yep that link is hideous

I think yours is a nice dress OP. I’d wear something like that if I could (too old & too large now). If you feel comfortable in it it’s fine for a wedding.

HeWhoMustNotBeNamed · 15/01/2024 07:56

I like it and think it's perfect for a wedding if you dress it up with a fascinator, bag, and heels.

As long as the colour suits you (only saying that because it would wash me out due to my colouring), I would wear it!

LookItsMeAgain · 15/01/2024 08:40

Questions for you @Howmanyroses -

  1. Are you the Bride in this wedding?
  2. Are you in the bridal party in this wedding?

If the answer to either of these questions is YES, then wear the dress.

However, if the answer to either or both of these questions is NO, then don't wear this particular dress.

It is far too pale a colour to be significantly different from a bridesmaid dress (yes, some do ask their BM's to wear short dresses so that they may be able to wear them again) or from a bridal dress for someone who might be a little bit more eclectic in their choice of fashion for their own wedding dress, even more so if the wedding happens to be in a registry office or somewhere other than a church/chapel.

There are literally hundreds of colours out there that you could pick a dress in. Why pick something so close to blush pink/bridal colour?
