Just that really, what do you think? Obviously looks much better on a model in the picture. Thank you!

The colour is awful.

GreatGateauxsby · 14/01/2024 15:31

Shocked by these responses 😅😅

I wouldn’t wear it myself (colour and cut wouldn’t suit me) but I quite like it. If I saw someone a friend wearing it at a wedding I wouldn’t raise an eyebrow.
I think it’s perfectly appropriate and formal enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

EmmaGrundyForPM · 14/01/2024 15:31

I'd have thought it's a bit short for a wedding. But I do like it.

C00k · 14/01/2024 15:41

Really don’t like the top, the colour or the messy bits all over it but for a wedding it’d be ok. Are there no other options?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/01/2024 15:42

I don't like it, sorry. I hate the Phase Eight one too. And I hate that orange thing even more.

ginasevern · 14/01/2024 15:27

I like it. It's got a vintage look which I like. It's the sort of thing I would've worn in my 20's or 30's. Too old to carry it off now.

Same thoughts. It's not so much I think I'm too old but too fat and I don't show tops of arms.

Some the responses on here , imo are just bonkers.

OP if you like the dress, it's fine for a wedding- wear it. Ignore most of the replies.

If you are asking because you're not sure you like the dress, then still ignore the replies. If you have to ask "is this nice", it's not the dress for you. Opinions from here won't make it better or worse.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 14/01/2024 16:04

It looks a bit cheap and drab

WilhelminaBunter · 14/01/2024 16:06

While I don't like it, I agree it isn't inappropriate for a wedding. So if that's what you were asking then it's fine

merrymelodies · 14/01/2024 16:14

I love It and would wear it in a heartbeat.

Zone2NorthLondon · 14/01/2024 16:21

Haha don’t ask mn what to wear to a wedding they’ll recommend a kirstie allsop frock
mn favours the chaste curmudgeon look at a wedding accessorised with a bolero and or shrug
Mn wedding rules No leg. No cleavage. Definitely no white (you’ll be mistaken for the bride! The groom won’t know who to say yes to)

if it’s your style and you like it…wear it

Howmanyroses · 14/01/2024 16:22

Thanks everyone, I am on the fence about this one. I got it on eBay for £15, so it was a bargain. I don't go to many weddings, so reluctant to spend a lot on a dress that I will only ever wear once or twice. I am short and petite, so longer dresses don't really suit me, hence the length. On me it's about knee length. I really detest anything patterned and the actual shade of the dress is more like dusty pink, rather than orange. I still can't decide whether it looks pretty and delicate or just a bit messy, especially from a distance.

Oh and by the way I really don't like that Phase Eight dress, too stuffy and old-fashioned

Haha, totally - the hunt for this dress was prompted by a thread that advised my cream dress that I was saving up for a summer wedding was inappropriate. I just can't get it right it seems!😂

Here are more dresses by the same designer, she seems to specialise in petal dresses :) I just think it's so unusual and interesting and very cool! https://evafranco.com/collections/mini-dresses/products/halter-swing-mini-dress-1

Edited

The black dress is really pretty. I like that a lot.
maybe add a shrug or a bolero though? Perhaps a fascinator?

MariaVT65 · 14/01/2024 16:34

Also agree that phase eight dress isn’t nice. I wouldnt wear that until mid 50s personally

I'm late 50's and I wouldn't wear it either.

2024namechange · 14/01/2024 16:54

I agree that the OPs original dress is not the one! Very drab dress, boring colour and the weird bit at the top makes it look too casual for a wedding.

No one’s suggestions are great either. Although the black dress suggested by the OP is probably the best so far, I’m always iffy about black for a wedding!
