@Experiment627 Thank you! It was the 11th. I was never one for bdays but after my brush with mortality earlier this year I think I will make more of an effort to be less cynical about them.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/07/2024 13:24

Belated happy birthday @Fraaahnces

A few more

Sunday Riley CEO cream - this was in a beauty drop box. It seems to get a mixed reception on Mumsnet but I love it. It sinks in well, smells nice and leaves my skin feeling really smooth. A definite RP at some point.

Ultrasun face factor 50 - Seems to do the job. and no horrid smell like some sun blocks. Would RP.

AB rich cream - I used a sample a while ago and wasnt sure but having used the bigger bottle I've found that I do like it after all. My skin quality really picked up. Shame it's so expensive.

Morning chess perfume - Liked it would be happy to have more but wouldn't race to buy it. I prefer a fresher scent

Dr Serbagh Serum repair. Where has this stuff been all my life? My skin was amazing!! RP

Little owl pot of lip balm - probably not the best lip balm on the market but I love it because my little girl bought it for me out of her pocket money so it's worth the most. Will be keeping the pot

Malin and Goetz grapefruit cleanser Very refreshing and left my skin clean. Happy

Otto exfoliator - great. Loved it. Very gentle and very effective as well as smelling nice RP

Aussie calm the frizz shampoo and conditioner - not sure where these came from possibly left by a guest but found them nearly full in the cupboard. Liked them - certainly smelt of dope but left my hair looking and feeling OK.

Dermalogica daily cleanser - This was in a liberty kit last year and I'm absolutely gutted about finishing it. It lasted for absolutely ages, smelt nice, felt so smooth, left my skin all glowy. It's also £55 a bottle but I think I'll be buying more

91/100. Might have to set myself a stretch target

Finished another two KBeauty hair masks… not worth the price or remembering their names. Tbf, my hair is a hot mess express. I will report if I ever find anything useful. It does feel good to declutter the shower though. (I will just buy from drugstore next week.)

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 20/07/2024 10:34

Empties!

Huggies wipes, fab!

Tresseme 2 in 1 shampoo is ok. The deep cleanse is the one that I prefer. Doesn’t leave the hair greasy. Others from the brand don’t work as well on me.

I liked the smell of the LOccitane sample shampoo I had.

Lacura almond scrub works fine and smells good .

Lacura hand wash rhubarb does the job.

Chapstick with English flag was ok. Used it on my hands tbf.

hardley and barleys or something like this poppy body butter smellt plasticky and very meh. Won’t rp. I don’t like the brand.

Cien hyaluronic serum. Works fine, a bit sticky but it is cheap. Want to try different brands.

Bionsen deodorant. I really liked the old school smell, heavy on aldehydes. However, if you have exercised, for me is swimming and apply it afterwards, it burns like your armpits are on fire. Would not rp because of that.

Some more empties:

Glow Recipe avocado ceramide cleanser - 50ml. One of the nicest cleansers I’ve tried and you only need to use a little bit so this travel size lasted ages. Would definitely repurchase if I didn’t already have five or six full size cleansers in the cupboard to get through first.

Holifrog daily mineral sunscreen SPF 30 - 60ml. This had a quite a runny consistency so it was nice to apply and the cream had a tint so it didn’t leave a white cast (didn’t leave a tint on the skin either). It did leave my skin feeling a bit greasy though.

Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice sunscreen - 10ml. Just feels like a really nice moisturiser. Great product.

Philip Kingsley Elasti-Styler - 40ml. Didn’t weigh my hair down or make it straggly, but didn’t seem to do much else for my hair either.

Organic Shop pineapple & brown sugar body scrub - 250ml. This had a bit of a weird consistency, looked like a normal body scrub but turned into a milky lotion as soon as it got wet, with only a few scrubby bits in. Didn’t feel that exfoliating while using it, but did leave my skin feeling soft afterwards.

Bath & Body Works body lotion in At the Beach - 236ml. Combined this with Next Summer Sun perfume for the full sun lounger on the Med effect.

Love Body & Earth hand cream in Cherry Blossom - 30ml. This was the last of the set of six crap hand creams I got for Christmas. Finally got through them!

Finished my favourite “Thank You Farmer, Rice Pure Gel and Cream”. So sad. There is nothing else quite like it I’ve found. I was given some sample pots of Biossance Squalane & Marine Algae eye cream and Squalane & Omega Repair Cream as a birthday gift from Sephora. They were… okay. Would never spend that kind of money on moisturiser. Ended up mixing them into what was left of my favourite rice cream to eke it out a bit and preferred that combo. I washed out the pots for future travel. I have some Hada Labo moisturiser to use up, or I would have ordered more rice cream. My fingers are totally itching to get online… the weather is so dry here, I may still cave. If my skin dries out I will be able to justify it as I will use up the HL moisturiser in the summer when it’s warmer and more humid. My serum is starting to run low. I have really whittled my stockpile down to what I am using!
I have also finished a sample of Korres Yoghurt Foaming Creamy Cleanser. I didn’t think I would like this but I really do. Depending on price, this may be my next purchase. It’s effective, gentle and doesn’t stink.

Experiment627 · 23/07/2024 07:12

@Fraaahnces you say your hair is a hot mess express 🤣Not sure if that means frizz, grease, or something else but have you tried using a bonding treatment like the Redken acidic bonding or the Loreal Elvive bond repair (which are probably the same thing just different price points) - these are meant to be used before shampooing but I find using them after shampooing and leaving on for a long time & then washing out really helps the look and feel of my hair.

I have some empties to report:

  • Live Love Locks Weightless volumizing shampoo for fine & medium hair: this is from the Blowout Professor - who I follow on YT. Alas, did not prolong days between washing plus left hair feeling somewhat straw like.
  • Cristina Aguilera Xtina perfume sample: nothing to write home about
  • B by Superdrug Menopause hydrating eye cream: really liked this - suddenly my eyes have days of being very puffy on a morning and massaging this in helped reduced the puffiness
  • B by Superdrug Menopause hydrating day cream: loved this. More of a gel cream and sinks in nicely. Quite refreshing. Does not pill.

That's amazing @Fraaahnces . Well done.

Fraaahnces · 24/07/2024 00:39

@Experiment627 my hair is fine & dry. The current weather is not helping. Going to try L’Oréal Wonder Water. Supposed to be very hydrating.

PomsRun · 24/07/2024 08:00

Bath and body works shower gel- like a lot, nice fragrance and lathered well.

Clarins tonic shower gel & body lotion. Love this fragrance. really uplifting. Use on a wfh day.

Elizabeth Arden hand cream. Was fine.

L’occitane shea butter hand cream. The best.

Votary night star serum. Apparently rrp £140. It’s no better than a £30 serum. Was in last years Liberty AC.

Barbara Sturn face cream. Was fine. Not a rp.

Ren night cream. Was rich and suited my dry skin but had an awful smell. Wouldn’t repurchase because of that.

Sunday Riley after sun or something like that. Wasn’t great.

55/80 (getting ready for Advent calendars!).

MidnightMeltdown · 26/07/2024 23:30

Wow, everyone is doing so well! I've been a bit slow on the empties lately but finally have a few:

152) Guerlain Midnight Secret - quite liked this. May rp at some point

153) Dr Dennis Gross Vit C Serum - this had weird smell and didn't do anything for me. Maybe it was off but wasn't that old.

154) Nudestix Mascara - not bad, but not a favourite

155) Barbara Sturm Night Serum - nothing special. Her hyaluronic serum is better than this

156) Hourglass Concealer - HG

Total 156/200

I have used up the last of my delicious Japanese Orange and Muguet body lotion. (Sad as it seems to have been discontinued. It was almost as thick as a body butter but was actually absorbed pretty easily. Was also dirt cheap.) I am giving myself permission to use up my HL moisturiser all over so that I can order the other stuff sooner. In the mean time, will be interested to see how a very gentle retinol affects the body. If it helps, will continue to buy for use on the bod as it’s cheap.

LilyJessie · 27/07/2024 08:32

@Fraaahnces
Never heard of Thank You Farmer, Rice Pure Gel and Cream...
I ran out of face cream for the first time in god knows how long (a miracle) and I've treated myself to Clinique Moisture Surge. But after your reccomendations, that may be next on my list!

Experiment627 · 27/07/2024 09:00

I have an empty:

  • Colorsport 30 day brow tint: great for dyeing brows but also for regrowth on head. I am trying a L'oreal one next which is a bit more cachinga.
OP posts:
Fraaahnces · 27/07/2024 10:09

@LilyJessie I hope you like it. Because I use tretinoin I find a lot of western moisturizers both ineffective and very stingy. I have no idea why. This one is just delicious for me. There are probably others that are just as fabulous but I’m kind of over being disappointed. I’ve decided it’s my HG and I’m going to stick with it while I can.

wheresmyshoe · 27/07/2024 18:57

55/100

Sleep spray - I love pillow sprays, unlike most of MN. I have a couple of minis to use up but will be happy to get another in an advent or box. This one is a solid option.

Chantecaille - lovely, skin looked fab, way out of budget.

Kate Somerville exfolikate - my skin can be quite sensitive so I approached this with caution. It was great, effective without being harsh. KS is a top brand for me, I've loved everything I've tried.

Mud mask - nope, messy, staining and sat in my pores. There's probably an application left in the tube but life is too short and my stash is too large to persist with it.

Fenty- looks and feels like silicone but it isn't. Definite blur of skin imperfections, the texture is odd on my fingertips applying but nice on my face.

Not Fenty... Huda beauty

Experiment627 · 28/07/2024 16:01

I have two empties to report:

  • Boots extra strength denture cleansing tablets
  • B by Superdrug Glow smoothing night serum: actually misread this and thought it said soothing 🙈this is actually great though - has AHA, PHA, ceramides and squalane. I used every few nights under moisturiser.

This may help or not. There is a sale on their website and if you use the code SYLVIE30 it is 30% off. Appreciate that it might still be out of budget

wheresmyshoe · 28/07/2024 16:56

Thank you @neverendingcold

Experiment627 · 29/07/2024 14:44

I have another empty to report:

  • Superdrug Me+ Calm CICA jelly mask: I really liked this - works best when goes direct onto skin after cleansing. Very hydrating and also cooling.

Reporting empties: a large tub of QV cream; trial size of Clarins Night Cream for Mature Skin.

Experiment627 · 29/07/2024 21:04

My stash seems to have had babies!!! My cupboard is bursting at the seams!!!

A very generous friend has given me a load of Glamfox snail mucin products - which I cannot wait to use. I am looking for a great Korean cleanser and sunscreen to complete the routine - open to suggestions please 🙏🏼
