@Peridot1 That’s the Cream Skin Refiner? It’s more of an extra moisture boost than hydrating. If you are prone to dehydration, your HA serum underneath will make you extra plumptious!

Minnie123456 · 27/04/2024 09:00

Few more empties to report, it's taking forever to use things up.
Sheet mask- this* *belonged to DD but she didn't want it, was ok didn't think it did much.
Soap & Glory bath salts- think these had been sitting in my cupboard too long as they had lost their scent.
Wishful Thirst Trap Juice 5ml- this was out of a beauty box. Don't think it really did anything.
No7 advanced retinol advanced complex- I didn't notice a huge difference with this although I wasn't very consistent. I might rp and try it again once I have finished my other retinol.
Caudalíe grape water gel moisturiser- this had a weird smell that put me off but it did moisturise my skin though. Not sure if I would rp due to the smell.
L'occitane immortelle reset serum- I liked this and will probably rp once I have used up all my night serums. The only thing I didn't like was that the beads where sometimes hard to rub into the skin
Molton Brown Alba White Truffle Hand Treatment- this had the weirdest smell ever, wouldn't rp. Didn't really do anything for my hands.
L'occitane rose hand cream- nice smell but didn't really moisturise my hands.

@Fraaahnces - it’s the Cream Skin Cerapeptide Toner and Moisturiser.

Fraaahnces · 27/04/2024 15:39

That’s the one… brilliant thing.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 29/04/2024 11:50

Yes! Empties

Vitamin C eye patches from Mercadona. This is my first incursion into the world of eye patches. I first tried them and I don’t see a lot of benefit in them, but it was a fun experience. Walking around in my robe with the patches on my daughters were very intrigued. I left them on for longer than the 20min in the instructions and they dehydrated and became very thin. My undereyes were slightly softer after use. I might buy them again to feel pampered 🤣.

Head and shoulders shampoo and Palmolive shower gel. Fine, did their jobs.

Denenes gel champu with lavender. I absolutely friking love the smell of this. More bergamot-y than lavender-y but it is great. Happy to bring back a couple of bottles every time I visit Spain.

Yvea Rocher express eye make up remover. Works a treat as it’s biphasic and it’s kind to the eyes (don’t get it inside the eye as it will sting like mad). Would rp. That one lasted a wooping 8 years 😅

Nivea rose and argan oil lotion. Lovely light texture easily absorbed. Smells great. I would RP if it wasn’t for the 100 other body lotions I happen to own.

Good bye cellulite Q10 nivea lotion. Good buy to my money as it didn’t do anything. Gel texture that it’s a bit sticky and too cold in winter. Won’t RP.

Fisiocream gel active. A little sample for aches and pains. Smells terrible but my DH felt better after use. I am not inclined to commit to a full tube of this.

Dr. Organic snail gel. Squimishiness aside, it worked fine on my ezcema hands. I didn’t like it on my face and I am trying to find something that would sort my hands. That one I liked for that.

Clinique 3 step routine sample. 1 soap: to drying. 2 . Claryfing lotion. Too strippy and stingy. Not a keeper.

My nemesis Mason and Miller shampoo and conditioner. Just rubbish, you are better using fairy dishwasher for your hair. Terrible stuff. Some still to go.

Rapid white tooth whitening accelerator. Rubbish. It was dry and smelt vile. NoRp.

Yves rocher almond lotion. Absorbs fantastically well, smells very similar to L’occitane almond cream and it’s cheaper. I would Rp once I finish more things.

Empties:

Cowshed eye balm - 15ml. Very lightweight, didn’t think it did much. Also made my eyes water a bit if I wasn’t careful with it, maybe because it is fragranced (it smelled lovely, but fragrance perhaps isn’t the best idea in an eye cream).

Laniege lip sleeping mask in Pink Lemonade - 20g. Liked this flavour, love this product.

Dr Ceuracle Moist Sun - just a sample sachet. Had a lovely runny, light texture but made my skin sting a little when I first put it on.

Philosophy Cinnamon Buns shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath - 480ml. Used this mainly as a bubble bath, didn’t try it as a shampoo. It smelled lovely but I think it’s expensive for what it is.

L’Occitane shower gel in Verbena - 250ml. Hadn’t used this in years but got it in the M&S advent. I’d forgotten how nice it is - loved the scent and it feels nice on the skin too.

Bath & Body Works body lotions in Gingham Fresh and Wild Sand - 236ml each. My favourite body lotion formula and liked both these scents.

Now got loads of full things on the go, so empties might be few and far between for a while, other than maybe some skincare bits and pieces.

I’m tempted to try a B&BW body lotion soon. Almost out of my fave orange & muguet one. It’s been discontinued. Here’s a hint:- if you ever create a perfume, don’t get me to try it. If I like it, it will be discontinued.
Finished John Frieda purple shampoo & conditioner. Was actually a bit too intense for my hair. I’ve decided not to use purple shampoo anymore. It just builds up in the ends and makes my scalp itchy. I’m going to embrace the natural warmth. (Will see how long this lasts…)
Boring Dove body wash. Was just one of the moisturising ones. Quite nice. Did the job.
Colgate toothpaste.
I USED UP AN ENTIRE LIPSTICK! An hourglass stabby one. Neutral pinky colour. Lovely.

Experiment627 · 02/05/2024 09:30

@Fraaahnces well done on using up an ENTIRE lipstick!!! 💄

OchonAgusOchonOh · 02/05/2024 10:01

I didn't think it was possible to use up an entire lipstick! I'm impressed @Fraaahnces

Fraaahnces · 03/05/2024 03:44

I even scraped it out with a lip brush when it got to the end. 👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼💋💄💋👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼*Preens smugly and flicks non-existent locks a-la Miss Piggy….

I am an organic fans. I love a small brand named Soapmum. Its origin is now in Australia.

Have any other organic beauty products good to use?

listsandbudgets · 03/05/2024 11:13

A few more

Clarins aux plantes with essential oils - This was OK, loved the smell but probably not a RP

Molton Brown re-charge black pepper - love this stuff. Will be an RP in the future but for now have loads of shower gel including a huge bottle of the Lidl dupe for this one

Sunday Riley Luna sleeping oil - This was in the Liberty AC. I love it, eeked out the very last drop and will RP eventually but it's pricey so will be waiting until I can get it with a really good GWP. It just seemed to skin into my skin and left it smooth and comforted. I hated Good Genes so was sceptical of this at first to be honest.

Votary serum - again l really enjoyed using this and it's on the RP list. It smells nice and soaks in well.

Philip Kingsley elasticater Absolutely no idea how long this tube has been hanging about. I seem to have another 4 or 5 tubes to use up. I have decided to use them as conditioners as I never seem to have time to use it properly. Probably not an RP but I'm sure some will sneak it's way into my life via and AC or kit

Ritual of Merher body lotion - smelt nice but no better or worse than most other body lotions. Have another small bottle of this

57/100 However about to start a lot of full products so empties will probably be few and far between for a while now

Eve Lom cream cleanser - nice, but not THAT nice. Price is insane.

Patchology eye patches - different types and I like them all. A lot of plastic waste, though.

Joules bath fizz x2 - not very fizzy.

Joules hand cream - too creamy. Didn’t like the smell either.

Sanctuary spa hand cream - really liked it.

Nip Fab eye patches - didn’t do anything although I used them for two weeks every morning.

Laneige lip mask - liked it! Will rp in a different scent.

Hugo Boss perfume - umm, not bad, very “easy going” everyday scent. Slightly sour.

Lancome eye cream - good, but prefer Clinique. Too thick for me.

Luna by Luna eyebrow gel - left white bits on brows, didn’t like it.

Benefit lip gloss - my favourite one.

E.l.f clear gloss - tasted bitter. If anyone knows a good clear gloss, please let me know.

A few empties.

Indeed Labs Hylamide serum. No idea where this came from but it was ok. Used in a ‘sandwich’ with the Jordan Samual mist.

Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate the Mist spray. I like JSS a lot but found this underwhelming really. Much prefer the Curel hydrating mist.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser. Really like this. Have another one in my stash. But not a BP member now so won’t be repurchasing.

Fraaahnces · 05/05/2024 07:13

Lots of empties…
I have finished a *Numbuzin No5 Vita serum. Left skin glowy and refreshed.
My 2nd *Jumiso Vitamin C serum. Okay. Not intense enough for me but would be a great “starter”
vitamin C. Tbf, this was lovely and refreshing and didn’t irritate my very sensitive neck and décolleté.
*Jumiso 95% Snail Mucin and Peptide Essence. This is lovely. Very hydrating. Giant bottle. Prefer to COSRX.
*Ample:N Ceramide Ampoule. If your skin barrier is a bit dodgy and you want something healing, nourishing but not heavy, this is fabulous. Comes in a giant 100ml bottle with long dropper. Lovely texture. Not at all greasy or sticky but layers well.
Travel size *Laneige Cream Skin Refining Toner. Love. I am keeping the bottle to take to work, being filled by the in-coming new toners. Sometimes I feel myself becoming flushed at work and I like to have the opportunity to pat on over foundation. (If you’re careful, it doesn’t lift it. I wouldn’t spray it though.)
*Kahi Collagen Mist. Fine I guess. Worked well as a setting mist, but that wasn’t it’s intended purpose. The bottle produces a nice mist and it’s a good size for handbag. Am keeeping the bottle.
*Glow Recipe Watermelon Mist. Probably not hydrating enough for my aged face, but I like the scent. I put it in the fridge to use in hot weather and rarely remembered I had it. Again, the bottle is good for travel or work, and the mist produced is fine. I will refill this if it can be opened.
I have just ordered several KBeauty Toners which I intend to use instead of serums as I go through them so quickly. They’re all either 300ml or 500ml bottles and I imagine I shall have enough for a lifetime. (I can see myself using on my body too.) I love serums but find I don’t need the “actives” as I am using tretinoin and it does what I need atm. These are all focused on moisturising, hydrating and soothing, but I have two with brightening actives as well. We’re coming up to winter (if you can call it that here) so I am focusing on ceramides and glycerin. I suspect due to the tretinoin, my skin responds well to lower-dose actives anyway. Will see how this theory works in reality.

wheresmyshoe · 05/05/2024 08:24

32/100

Hydrating sheet mask - this worked well, I woke up creased and puffy and it made me look fresh and awake. Soothing and very hydrating.

Sturm mini - I couldn't justify the price of a full size but this was lovely on my skin. Not greasy, it sunk in well, plumping.

I have two empties to report:

  • Dove one cream: this is for face, hands and body. I liked on body - much like the Garnier green bottle one. Too lightweight and non barrier type for hands. And just not enough for my face.
  • Clinique all about eyes: got this in an M&S beauty box I think and was actually quite impressed. Nice and rich on but did not irritate my eye area at all, nor cause more milia, which often happens with eye products. Might RP but think there are other eye creams out there that are way cheaper and do a good job too.

Another empty! I finished a mascara. Clio Kill Lash (dumb name) in Volume Curling. That and Long Curling are without a doubt the best mascaras I have ever owned. I have the Sharp Volume and it’s not as good. I am going to reorder next week and bin the one I’m using.

Wherediditgoto · 10/05/2024 05:44

I am really really stressed at how much I have. Hotel freebies. Contents of advent calendars, old stuff I have half used. Stuff I will never ever get through. I don’t like most of the contents of advent calendars. Yet I can’t buy anything I do like until it’s all used up. There is no joy in any of it anymore. I can’t find space for it, can’t find what I’m looking for. I really hate it and wish I had never got in this situation. I have about ten mascaras and I only wear it about once a week.

Fraaahnces · 10/05/2024 06:48

@Wherediditgoto - can you maybe donate any unopened bits to a shelter? (Police were happy to give me a couple of numbers and I asked if they wanted bits and pieces. They were so happy to receive them.)

Jennalong · 10/05/2024 06:48

@Wherediditgoto
If it's causing so much stress , box it up and take to a women's refuge or homeless shelter where it will be much appreciated .
That way you've freed yourself from it , and also done some good , it's honestly not helping you from the sound of it .

Fraaahnces · 10/05/2024 06:49

Great minds @Jennalong! 😍

Jennalong · 10/05/2024 07:07

@Fraaahnces Yep ! Lol

Peridot1 · 10/05/2024 09:17

@Wherediditgoto - it’s a horrible feeling isn’t it? As others said can you pack some up to donate? Food banks take unopened toiletries. All your hotel freebies can go there.

Mascara - they do go off and dry out so if some are opened I would junk them.

Can you make up some groups of things that you can give to friends or family as presents for birthdays? Or just give some things away. I gave my sisters some things I thought would work for them.
