@Wherediditgoto
If it's causing so much stress , box it up and take to a women's refuge or homeless shelter where it will be much appreciated .
That way you've freed yourself from it , and also done some good , it's honestly not helping you from the sound of it .

I’m a bit of a hoarder. I know I should just get rid of it though. I can definitely give some of it away. I’m just embarrassed by how much I have!

LilyJessie · 10/05/2024 10:44

@Wherediditgoto

Ahhh you sound very stressed 😫
This chat inspired me to go through all my stuff, some of it had dried up, so I lobbed it. Some of it I gave to friends/ family. Some of it I'm keeping as a "top up" for presents. And I'll definitely send some off to refuge/ shelters as that's a fantastic idea.

I do know you can contact refuge directly. You can send them a bundle of stuff (including clothes you wish to get rid of anything and have a right old clear out!)

From experience in my job, the women/ children there will make use of it and they'll feel a bit more "normal" and "human" having a little bit of luxury which often their lives have been so lacking.

We do a collection at Christmas and often on the list are toiletries/ sets like sanctuary etc.

Xxx

Experiment627 · 10/05/2024 15:51

@Wherediditgoto hopefully you will see the joy in giving what you have too much of to someone who is in need. I have often given things to my local women's refuge - they are SO grateful to receive. Just in general, when I feel like the energy in my home is stagnant I have a bit of a declutter - it is amazing how my energy can change just from clearing up something. I am a massive hoarder - not just beauty (although I am on top of this now, thanks to this thread) but paper is my big thing... this morning I cleared a pile of stuff (post, vouchers, old receipts) and it gave me such a push to have a better day 🫶🏽

To all the SWIFTIES on here: how amazing is Taylor's new album!!! I just love it!

Ok so I do actually have an empty or two:

  • Superdrug Optimum retinol serum: quite mild... probably too mild to have done much
  • Naturtint creme root retouch: really liked how this applied, the brush particularly but have washed once and already see it fading! It also scored 0/100 on Yuka! So much for a "naturally" radiant colour!

Received a parcel from Stylevana this morning AFTER THREE MONTHS!!!
I am now the owner of some new concealer and a small pot divided into three colour-correcting shades. (Love these things especially when you want a slightly more perfected no-makeup look.) :- The Saem Pot Concealer is basically the lovechild of Nars Soft Matte Concealer and Glossier Stretch. (imo just a bit better than both.)
I bought an APLB Collagen EFF Peptide serum in a twofer offer. They sent me double and told me to keep it. Thanks SV! I am going to apply this super-liberally and report. From what I gather, APLB is like a KBeauty version of The Ordinary or Inkey List.
I also purchased House of Hur liquid blush in Nude. This has given me the BEST slightly tan beige blush (ie slightly more alive) look. I hope it lasts. I have form for making liquid blush disappear. If this is good, it will last forever.

Experiment627 · 11/05/2024 08:20

Must feel like Christmas @Fraaahnces Enjoy your haul!

I have an empty:

  • Sali Hughes Butterclean makeup meltdown cleansing balm: I really enjoyed this balm - smell lovely and does a great job. That said, every now and again, I did notice my skin get red and bumpy after use.

Fraaahnces · 11/05/2024 12:41

I’m still waiting on two more parcels. Don’t tell DH. One from Stylevana and one from its Aussie little sister. Tbf, one of these is mostly full of presents for my DDs birthdays coming up. Hope they turn up before July & August.

6 empties.

My favourite, now discontinued, body butter. I still have a couple left in my stash.

Brieogo hair mask. I used it as a conditioner. OK.

Eye cream whose name I can't remember. I liked it but hated the dispenser. The instructions said to use half a pump, which was plenty. It's really difficult to do half a pump. Either make the pump smaller or use a tube.

Hawthorn menopause balm. I prefer their ordinary balm but this is a good winter night cream.

Shiseido moisturiser. It was fine.

Olay serum. I found two of these in my washbag. They had been there a while and had evaporated.

A few more empties:

Canmake Mermaid gel SPF 50 - 40g. I liked this, sank in well and didn’t leave my skin greasy. Had a bit of a glowy finish on my skin too.

Caudalie Grape Water Gel moisturiser - 15ml. This was very lightweight and wouldn’t be enough on its own, but was fine used with serum and SPF. Smells of cut plant stems (fine in a garden, less welcome in a face cream).

Sol de Janeiro bum bum cream - 25ml. I usually like gourmand scents but I find this a bit sickly in the cream version (the fragrance mist is fine). Also stupidly expensive for a body lotion.

Tree Hut Coco Colada body scrub - 510g. Very coarse textured, so I had to go a bit easy with it but it left my skin feeling very soft and smelled good.

M&S Spiced Bergamot EDT - 30ml. My favourite of the M&S perfumes I’ve tried. Pretty good longevity for a cheapie too.

Aroma Active Sleep Salt Soak - 50g. Only enough for a couple of baths, but it was a nice product. Smelled relaxing and my skin felt moisturised after using.

PomsRun · 12/05/2024 18:29

Rituals 48 hour hydrating cream apparently but imo not hydrating at all.
Tatcha the water cream - really disappointing, I like the lilac pot one a lot - this one didn’t seem to do much and my skin felt quite dry.
Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot shower gel- a favourite.
Kerestase Elixir Ultime - another staple.
IT cream - was ok.

30/80

33/100

I hoarded these when they were discontinued and I've just used the last of the last one. Amazing to keep cool toned dyed dark hair true to colour.

Poets of Berlin - really like this tho not as lasting as Peony Couture
Dr B S vit c - meh
Ole H vit c - felt this made a difference (work freebie)
Other bits were from Boots gift box or a GWP and were OK.

Patchology eye patches - great as usual.

Revitale soap scrub - very sharp! Had to scrape some bits out. Will not rp.

Elizabeth Arden white tea shower gel - really liked it! Have another bottle of this. Nice, clean scent.

Tressame hair conditioner - got it for free from Ocado. Nice smell, but too watery.

Bondi Boost hair oil - extremely heavy. Didn’t like it. Not sure it helped with anything either.

YSL lipglosses - nice texture but too drying on my lips.

CeraVe face washes - really liked these! So gentle. Might rp.

Erborian cc and colour correction samples - didn’t like these. Don’t like anything that changes or adapts its colour.

Shiseido eye cream - lasted a long time though only 3ml. Very nice and creamy!

Blistex lip cream - too minty. Didn’t like it.

listsandbudgets · 15/05/2024 12:59

Just seen the M&S summer bag is available. Took a look - its £170 - I'm not sure how many they'll be selling at that price! A lot of the items are full size but it's a no from me

What do you think? M&S summer beauty bag

pattyparsnip · 15/05/2024 13:07

I think offer starts tomorrow where you spend £30 and get it for £ 35 . I'm not sure I need some pjs so might buy it .

listsandbudgets · 15/05/2024 14:22

Thanks that explains it I thought it seemed a slightly excessive price

Fraaahnces · 16/05/2024 03:02

Waiting for my last parcel to arrive… I have decided to unfollow a heap of influencers simply because I am disillusioned by the beauty industry’s constant intrusion in my life, playing on both my insecurity and need for instant gratification. I’m probably going to replace this with cocktail and food videos, so if I suddenly become a fat drunk, you know why.

Peridot1 · 16/05/2024 11:33

😂. Well I am ready a fat drunk so I’ll keep you company @Fraaahnces!

😂. Well I am ready a fat drunk so I’ll keep you company @Fraaahnces!

Me too😁

There's a lot to be said for it.

Fraaahnces · 16/05/2024 14:29

I’ve had a few of you suggest that I become a blogger. If wine and food are included and become a tax write off, then maybe I’ll think about it! What would I call it? “Fat, Drunk and Old”?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 16/05/2024 14:33

Reflections of a mature, rotund sot?

listsandbudgets · 16/05/2024 16:35

Curvaceous, inebriated and mature - can I join you - although sadly I don't drink but I can eat with the best of them!

Fraaahnces · 16/05/2024 22:15

😁
Confession:- I don’t drink either since recent health scare. Food options not that exciting due to coeliac disease and need to lose weight. This is why I browse Pinterest like a starving person on a ship at sea, trapped in the doldrums.

Experiment627 · 17/05/2024 10:58

@Fraaahnces you should definitely start a blog - you are so eloquent! I am definitely your target audience: fat, old, drunk

I have an empty:

  • Superdrug Me+ tranexamic acid booster: in a pipette style bottle only lotion too thick for pipette to be able use. I think this does help reduce redness after use.

Experiment627 · 17/05/2024 11:00

Let me scratch what I said just now. That is no way to be talking about myself! I am curvaceous, experienced and wise and enjoy the occasional glass of grape juice.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 17/05/2024 11:07

Empties:

Rituals of mehr foaming shower gel. Love the consistency of this, the smell is so uplifting and nice to use now that the weather is warmish. My DD used most of it to my dispair.

Cien hidroexpert cleansing lotion. Was okeish until I reached the last 3rd of the bottle. It made my face sting and unconfortable. I won’t RP. Too runny. The smell was ok though.

2 samples of Clinique claryfing lotion. Too stripping, smells like 96° alcochol. Stings and basically is a no for me.

Fennel toothpaste kingfisher. Thanks to @Experiment627 for my newfound HG.

Herbal essences rose scent shampoo. Smells lovely, does the job. However, used after swimming in a chlorine full pool does not do much and it’s too mild. My hair still smells like bleach after using this when swimming. Ok to use at home.
