I don't think it's possible - hundreds!!!

PomsRun · 04/04/2024 14:53

Hundreds is fine! Maybe categorise them (I find this helps- I know I don’t need a serum until 2045 at the earliest).

Peridot1 · 04/04/2024 16:03

Welcome @Kittycat333. Categories are a great idea as @PomsRun says. I’m similar to her with serums. Have lots for some reason. And exfoliants.

I do need to go through my stash again though.

This afternoon I’ve gone through my lipstick collection and tried them all to see what suits now and chucked quite a few. It was prompted by getting my hair cut today quite a bit shorter and I’m “embracing the gray” in my hair and although it’s not fully gray yet it’s definitely more noticeable. So after my hair cut I went to Space NK for a new lipstick. Got a lovely Chantecaille deep-ish coral colour that really seemed to lift my face. And a new Lisa Eldridge eyeshadow to replace a Laura Mercier eye primer that has dried out a bit.

Managed to resist any skin care!

Next clear out is eye shadows.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 04/04/2024 17:06

That sounds great @Peridot1 ! I wish I could do a lipstick clear out but I like them all! Exceptions are rancid ones and formulas that I can’t stand. I am very happy to announce that I am almost finished with a crayon! l’oreal 111 little chilly. I might have to find my lip brush to get the last bits out. I find I tend to use that one a lot and would recommend to anyone 😍

Fraaahnces · 04/04/2024 17:28

@CorneliaStreet - I’m so pleased you found the Hada Labo so effective. It’s an HG for me and will always be in my stash.
Speaking of which, that’s my focus now. Finding my HG’s. I’m going to stick with them and (try to) stop looking at new things!

wheresmyshoe · 04/04/2024 19:09

28/100

Nou nou shampoo from Davines - this has a lot of fans but it doesn't quite suit me. I have the fine and brittle hair it's designed for, I wonder if it's my hard water. It's fine but nothing more on my hair.

Prija shampoo - used as outdoor hand wash to use it up, smelled lovely but didn't want to risk it in my coloured hair.

Miller Harris citron shower gel - this is ancient but kept its scent and wasn't drying.

wheresmyshoe · 04/04/2024 20:39

Pic attached.

One product bought this year. Champo Pitta growth serum. Started it this week.

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel - I think if you like them all and use them it’s worth keeping them. I had loads I just wasn’t using though.

@Fraaahnces so hard to stick to just buying HGs as so many new things come out!

Fraaahnces · 05/04/2024 09:07

I agree @Peridot1. Realistically I know that the “Try All The New Things” mindset is bonkers. There are no miracle unguents that will suddenly turn me into Gigi Hadid, and I have enough experience with existing products (some would say MORE than enough!) to know what works for me and why (*But I love new things and love trying them. Dilemma…)

CorneliaStreet · 05/04/2024 09:18

I think that’s why I always want to get beauty boxes - so I can try out new things and telling myself that it’s only sample sizes, completely forgetting that even a sample size of moisturiser or serum can take weeks to use up. Plus I carry on getting full sizes of things I love if I see them on offer and so, lo and behold, a bathroom cupboard full of a ridiculous amount of skincare!

Buster27 · 05/04/2024 11:02

@wheresmyshoe I felt the same about nou nou! Sounded like it would be perfect for me but was meh.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 05/04/2024 23:26

I think it was mentioned in this thread that someone of you finished a bottle of vit c and turmeric face oil from Lacura and it smelt horrible.

I made the same mistake and purchased it and I can’t bear the cooking smell on my face at bedtime so I will repurpose this for my décolletage or boobs for that matter.

I have a bottle of the vit c and turmeric oil on the go. It's really greasy, although I don't mind the smell. I.don't use it at night as it's likely to mess my bed linen. I can't use it on days I'm going in to the office as it would be at least lunch time by the time it had absorbed enough to even consider putting on make-up which means I only use it 3 or 4 times a week. I expect I will still be using it 10 years from now as it's a massive bottle.

I do kind of regret buying it...

Peridot1 · 06/04/2024 11:52

A few empties.

Tatcha Indigo Cleansing Balm. Was quite nice but wouldn’t RP as quite expensive and I like cheaper balms as much.

Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair. Not sure I noticed much difference in my skin but then again I never really do! Was half price but not sure I would pay full price.

This Works moisturiser/mask/primer in one. Haven’t finished it as find it really drying.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 06/04/2024 12:06

@Peridot1 - have you tried the Lacura cleansing balm from Aldi? I'm currently using it and would highly recommend. I think it's a dupe for the Emma Hardie moringa balm rather than the Elemis but I find it every bit as effective as both.

Peridot1 · 06/04/2024 12:15

@OchonAgusOchonOh - I haven’t tried it no. I don’t have an Aldi nearby really. Will have a look if I’m near one though.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 06/04/2024 15:28

I have some empties to report. Nothing fancy I am afraid…

Palmolive coconut and milk shower cream. It’s ok. Does the job. Some more in stash.

No drama llama bath bubbles in peach lemonade. Again, one of the lovely half used toiletries parents donate to school for children to buy again in Mother’s day. This was this year’s flavour. Last year’s I got a half used scrub from the body shop. I still love that my daughter chooses something I may like. I finished it. Smells pleasant. Was a stand alone renegade when in fact they come as a 5 gift set.

Hand sanitizer from Mercadona. Smelt fruity. Did the job. Glad it’s gone.

Aveeno body wash. Fine, staple.

She aromatherapy rose and lychee hand wash. Huge bottle that my other DD likes to use to play when hand washing. Didn’t last as much as I would have hoped. Pleasant fragrance and nice texture. One good find from TKMAXX

Method sweet water hand wash. Lovely smell, similar to the discontinued pink pomelo which I am still sad about. It’s not a gourmand sweet fragrance but more of a subtle floral one.

Licor del polo strawberry toothpaste. I don’t have to nag my children to wash their teeth anymore. Any toothpaste with strawberry it’s a win. Would rp.

Colgate toothpaste. Does the job.

Flora gucci gorgeous gardenia. Not a like.

Lacura bath salts with lavender, vetiver, jasmine and eucalyptus. Very soothing and pleasant smell. Loved the chunky texture and opaqueness of them . Would rp in a heartbeat.

Lumene illuminiser - really ollllld and needs to go

L'interdit 10ml - pretty nice
Glow recipe dew drops - actually really liked this, may RP
Murad AHA cleanser - also good, may RP
Dr Sebagh serum - pretty good but have many more to use

Total this year 22 - not including some things I have removed to sell as surplus to req

I actually have a makeup empty to report! I have just finished a mini cream blush in “Glow”, by Fenty. It was part of a holiday set from YEARS ago. I would buy this colour if it was ever produced. It’s the perfect neutral, slightly rosy, browny blush that just makes you look super healthy. (Formula is okay, but not ground-breaking. Found a blush stick by ABH which was pretty too, but doesn’t last as long.)

Experiment627 · 08/04/2024 07:10

Welcome @Kittycat333 !!!

@PomsRun 2045? 😱🤣

@Peridot1 what is the Lisa Eldridge eyeshadow like? I tried her foundation and was so disappointed.

@Fraaahnces great idea about sticking with your HGs!

The Aldi's near me in the UK are small and rarely have the beauty ranges- but you can sometimes find them online.

@clary that Murad cleanser is HG for me - love it!

Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 08:40

@Experiment627 - I have only used the eye shadow once and it was fine. It’s a liquid one which sets and is supposed to stay crease free.

Disappointed to hear you didn’t like the foundation - I was planning on trying it. What didn’t you like?

Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 08:43

I’m about to make a purchase. The Cult Beauty Sun Edit. Great value at £40. I got last year’s version and was impressed. I found it a good way to try a few different sunscreens.

And obviously sunscreen doesn't count as it's a medical necessity.

Peridot1 · 08/04/2024 09:07

@OchonAgusOchonOh - exactly!

ItookYourJob · 08/04/2024 09:47

L’occitane face&eye mask - nah, not worth it. Didn’t make any difference at all.

L’oreal fine flowers face wash - great for daily use in shower. Won’t get rid of makup though.

Ren Moroccan rose shower gel - does smell like a rose but absolutely not worth the price.

The body shop she butter shower cream - really liked it, smell, texture and all.

Frank Body coffee scrub - it is coffee. Very messy and “sharp”. Will not rp.

Rimmel lasting radiance concealer - not bad! Very sheer though. Some sort of hybrid between concealer and highlighter.

Loreal concealer - terrible. Sits in lines. Goes in bin almost full.

YSL Touche Eclat - HG. Already have another one.

Loreal pro xxl lift mascara - very good, though I opened multiple mascaras at once and unfortunately this has dried out. It was good whilst fresh.

Joules body cream - wasn’t keen on smell. Too old-school floral.
