I'm going to get the CB fragrance edit too. I don't count perfumes in my stash as they don't take up silly amounts of room like other items do.

MyRabbit79 · 04/02/2024 12:15

A few more empties as I'm working through the stash.

Superdrug face wipes: these were left behind by a guest and I haven't used a face wipes for years. Good for a night when you can't be bothered but they don't remove makeup well.

Nivea night cream: good but unexciting.

Rituals shower foam: this was a gift and was nice but I wouldn't RP myself.

Garnier shampoo: nice, would buy again.

Well I’ve been ruthless. I went through all my beauty bits and had 100s. About 600 items, mostly from advent calendars, beauty boxes, Cult Beauty edits and free with purchase type boxes that Space NK do. On top of things I’ve brought. I actually feel ashamed! It’s 1000s worth of product.

I tried putting a few on eBay and cleared over £100 so treated myself to some bits for the house that we needed.

Then in the last few weeks have used up:

Olaplex 3 - loved it and will rp when I’m under control but have other similar pre treatments to use up first.

Philip Kingsley Elasticiser - Again love it, similar to the Olaplex. Have another three to use up, this was smallest tube.

Philip Kingsley Shampoo and conditioner - Both good but unlikely to rp

Keratin Hair mask - was okay, to be honest I’ve had so much on my hair it’s never been softer, bouncier or shinier. These high end products do work when you use instead of stash!

Another conditioner. Was forgettable!

Christopher Robin salt hair purifier. Really liked, was a rp from one in an advent calendar. Currently on a purchasing ban though!

Big pot of random moisturiser and small pot that was half used. Both were from either the Space NK, JL or CB advent but they were nice but forgettable.

I’ve sorted everything else into categories and will start working through, will sell some more too.

I need to unsub from SpaceNK and CB emails!

Experiment627 · 05/02/2024 05:16

@CorneliaStreet I adore that Murad cleanser too.

@CrackerlessCracker amazing progress- well done!

Can you remind me how to use the Christopher robin salt purifier? I remembered I have it somewhere and used it twice. I have no idea how to use all the elisriciser and opelex either. I have multiple bottles.

CrackerlessCracker · 05/02/2024 08:14

The Christopher Robin use as a shampoo. It lathers up beautifully into a smooth foam.

The others are a pre treatment so wet hair and apply, then wash normally. You have to leave it on a while, I did 30 mins.

My hair is in great condition which shows I should be using rather than stashing these things. Pre-treatment always felt like a faff but I’d done one every weekend this year, primarily to use stuff up!

CrackerlessCracker · 05/02/2024 08:15

That’s Olaplex 3… other numbers will be used differently! I know 6 is a post was leave in treatment for example!

I have some empties to report:

  • Steradent denture celansing tablets pink tube: not a fan of these as I think they actually stained my night guard. I always look out for bargain priced ones as I use every day and I begrudge the expense!
  • A sample sachet of the Dermalogica stabilizing repair cream which @SpongeBobJudgeyPants kindly sent me 💜I used this over 2 days on a recent face flare up... not sure the origin but suspect there is some ingredient that I have become intolerant too... so I have paired back what I am using and will gradually reintroduce. Shame as I was loving the new stuff I was trying out.
  • Baylis & Harding Kindness plant collagen hand wash: bought this by mistake thinking it was shower gel... but TBH what is the actual difference between shower gel and hand wash anyway? I really did not like the smell (apparently rose water & coconut) and the colour of the bottle (horrid pink). That said I have two others on the go from this Kindness range and I much prefer how they smell. All feel nice on the skin, not drying.
  • Redken acidic bonding concentrate: one of the YouTubers I follow for haircare advice (The Blowout Professor) rates this above Olaplex - I cannot comment there as I have not used Olaplex. However, I do think using this every week or so has definitely helped my overly processed hair improve. I ignored the instructions and followed another YouTuber's advice (Abbey Yung) and used after shampoo but before conditioner - made so much more sense that way.
  • Superdrug Derma-Vu intensive shielding hand lotion: not a massive fan. I prefer more barrier type hand creams.

Not an empty but I gave the Charlotte Mensah hair pomade from the January Liberty Beauty Drop to my niece. It really doesn't agree with my very fine, slightly wavy hair but niece has very curly hair and is keen to try it.

ItookYourJob · 06/02/2024 09:27

I also follow The Blowout Professor! I’m currently about half way through Redken acidic bonding, but to be fair haven’t noticed that much difference. I think it’s because of Maroccan oil conditioner that actually seems to dry my hair out🤨 The results were much better before I started using it. Anyway, I’ll try using Redken after shampoo, see if that makes it more effective.

Experiment627 · 06/02/2024 16:29

how funny that we both follow him @ItookYourJob 🤣I did not get the oil but I did get the Redken Shampoo and conditioner - both nice but TBH the cheap as chips Timotei I am using at the mo does the same job!

OP posts:
ItookYourJob · 06/02/2024 17:20

@Experiment627 He has a lot of good advice! Not only I bought the conditioner, I also got the hair mask and oil🙄 I don’t think they are worth the money at all tbh, but I will persevere in the name of science!😁

Experiment627 · 07/02/2024 04:45

@ItookYourJob did you take his test to find out your hair type? The shampoo and conditioner he actually recommends for my hair type is not available here so I emailed him (well his team) and they suggested an alternative - by then though I had already bought the Redken volume injection- ehich were lovely to use but actually I am getting similar results from Timotei 🤣

Experiment627 · 07/02/2024 04:45

I think the way you was yiur hair can make a big difference- it certainly has for me... also I know sleep on a silk pillow and I thinj that helps too.

OP posts:
ItookYourJob · 07/02/2024 11:53

@Experiment627 Yes, I did take the quiz and got the list, but I’m still not convinced.. So, I did use Redken conditioner (good), but was hoping for even more hydration so switched to Moroccan (not good). To be fair, he does talk a lot about “soulmate” shampoo& conditioner, so maybe I just have to keep looking. With regards to washing- I got the wet brush, microfibre towel and don’t scrunch it, so should be ok on that front. Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations. Years ago I did keratin treatments and they left my hair perfect without any effort. I’m trying to replicate those results.. without keratin😁

Experiment627 · 07/02/2024 17:18

@ItookYourJob I have never tried Keratin treatment but my SIL does... but there is a lot of aftercare and I cannot be arsed. I agree - we need to find our soulmate & hopefully it will not cost the earth!

Afew more empties

REN glow and protect serum brilliant will definitely be on an RP list for tue future

Khiels body lotion.. honestly not entirely finished as almost impossible to get put of bottle. smelt medicinal didn't rub in well. first experience with this brand and hopefully my last

malin and Gotz mint shampoo and cilantro conditioner surprised myself by really liking both of these. only enough f9r a couple of washes but left hair glowy and smelling lovely. will RP but will be a treat as quite expensive

lush sleepy cream. not sure whether it helped me sleep or not but pleasant smell and my skin seemed to like it

listsandbudgets · 08/02/2024 11:38

that's 12 / 100. honestly think my target may be a bit optimistic but at least it's something to aim for

SwordBilledHummingbird · 08/02/2024 11:40

I used up the last of my White Company Spa Restore epsom salts last night. They discontinued these at least two years ago but I rarely put anything in the bath (much as I would like to) so it's taken me a while to get through them. Wish I could repurchase as I really like them.

Experiment627 · 08/02/2024 11:49

@listsandbudgets I adore the Lush sleepy cream - not sure if it helps with my sleep either but really like the scent.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 08/02/2024 16:50

Finished the superdrug vitamin c moisturising gel. This is lovely and light but not always great over certain serums.

@Experiment627 I think I've found the perfect 'serum' foundation after that Maybelline disaster, it is Lancome though so a bit spendy! Teint Idole.

Experiment627 · 08/02/2024 20:53

@LivingDeadGirlUK yay! I will give it a look!

OP posts:
ItookYourJob · 09/02/2024 18:32

@Experiment627 Great video about Redken! My experience is pretty much the same - not wow results, but techniques makes sense.

Some empties:
Redox shower foam - it stank like plastic! Not sure of I got a bad batch or something.

Frank body dry shampoo powder - awful, like white sand. Throwing it away almost full. It’s really unusable.

Institute Esthederm serum - smelled lovely and seemed to moisture skin nicely.

Ordinary eye peptides - not sure about this one. Not bad, but not great either. Very average. Won’t buy again.

Madara multi balm - feels like an end of an era. I have used many tubes of this, it’s similar to Welleda’s skin food only less oily. Won’t buy anymore because I need more advanced stuff.

Body shop hand cream - nice, but I prefer lighter textures.

Philosopy Hope in a jar - have had this one before. It is nice, but many similar products available.

Apart from a new roll-on deodorant (should be a legal requirement here) I haven’t broken my no-buy. I am looking at a hair tool atm, but I figure it’s cheaper than going bonkers on Stylevana.
