I can't do this alone folks. I've got TOO MUCH STUFF... I also have 2 beauty advent calendars

So I've set myself a challenge. Between now and June the 1st 2024 I will not buy any beauty products UNLESS I've run out of all of that particular type. If I've got a tiny sample bottle of shampoo or conditioner I'll use it all up. All those half used bottles of moisturiser, night cream, shower gel and toner and body lotion MUST GO... the mountain of soap must be surmounted.

My only concession is that I will not cancel the Liberty Beauty drop will get a couple of boxes to cheer me up

So if you want to join me make up your own rules and lets cull that stash

@Peridot1 -I’m getting a bit frustrated and also anxious as we may be moving and that affects lists, etc too. Also knowing I’m not getting better and my quality of life has gone to poop in the last year. Sigh…

listsandbudgets · 16/07/2024 13:37

The Liberty BD arrived this morning. I love it - delighted to have shampoo and conditioner together as I was on the cusp of running out of conditioner but not shampoo. There were 7 items and I've got 8 to list as empty at the moment so my net will change by +1 when I finally sort it all out.

I'm about to finish a big bottle of Dermalogica face wash I got in a Liberty Kit last year. Given it's £55 to replace I'm a bit gutted about this! However, I have plenty more face wash to be going on with so will be a while

@TheChosenTwo This isn't the empties thread although they do get discussed here. We're just trying to stop ourselves expanding our stash while using up what we've got. Few of us are perfect at buying bans but it helps us at least cut down what we do buy!

@Fraaahnces I'm also curious about Future Dew look forward to hearing how you get on with it

OP posts:
Fraaahnces · 17/07/2024 12:37

@listsandbudgets - my preliminary take on Futuredew is that it is fine. I must have been expecting more, but it is no miracle. I should explain that atm we have freezing winter winds coming at us from the mountains and the deserts. It’s so dry that every time you touch your car door handle you zap yourself with static electricity and everyone’s lips are chapped. Futuredew is a great addition to the daily skincare because it is basically a light facial oil. It doesn’t add much of a glow and I think if you are wanting a “glass skin” experience you can do better with the Tir Tir Ceramic Skin Ampoule which is described as an “oil alternative”. I find I get more glow (even though it has no mica) and it is more moisturising. I’m glad I bought it, but Tir Tir is the better product. (Sinks in better, effects last longer, etc). I would advise against Futuredew it for oily skin too… I think it would feel a little heavy if you weren’t a parched old raisin like me. *I am tempted to try one cheek with each product tomorrow.

Fraaahnces · 18/07/2024 00:36

Oh also, despite the fact that it’s pink in the bottle, it doesn’t tint my skin at all or do anything to even out my skin tone. If you are looking for a skin tint effect, this is not for you. It doesn’t blur at all.

listsandbudgets · 18/07/2024 22:17

Thank you @Fraaahnces that's a very helpful review I will certainly consider it as I'm certainly on the dried up end of things sadly!! The static shocks sound awful - where are you that you have such bizarre weather at the moment It's 24 degrees here

I have a new net figure - exciting times!!

I got the Liberty BD with 7 items so total in is now 39. My total finished for the year is now 91 so my net figure is 52. (I've been thinking my net should be higher as I've taken no account of anything I used in November and December but have counted everything that came in)

I'm off to my mums next week for at least 2 weeks so will be working on stash two. I think I've got everything I need there except for serum so going to take mine with me rather than buying more which would be silly wouldn't it!

OP posts:
listsandbudgets · 22/07/2024 18:42

Off to mum's tomorrow wish I could remember exactly what I had there.

I'm getting a bit low on serum but got quiet a big bottle of night serum from an AC. Does anyone know of any good reason I can't use it during the day!! I honestly want to run everything down before I splurge in September.... and believe me there'd better be an AMAZING GWP available because after ten months I'm going to be ready for one

I'm hanging my head in shame.

The hotel we stayed in last week had Molton Brown toiletries. I'm afraid to say that 12 minis might have fallen into my toilet bag. Whoops!🙃

Yes, but they don't count as they just followed you home and you couldn't turn them away at the door.

wheresmyshoe · 22/07/2024 20:21

As if you could have left them @Cyclingmummy1 I think we all get a pass on irresistible minis like that (looks at my recently acquired Penhaligons minis).

Cyclingmummy1 · 22/07/2024 22:20

🤣🤣🤣 @OchonAgusOchonOh @wheresmyshoe totally irresistible and yes, they just followed me home 🏡

Of course they did and believe me they'd have come home with me too. We stayed in a hotel in France last year and for some reason lots of the Rituals minis leapt into my bag... there were 7 of us.. we had 4 rooms between us... we stayed 3 nights... and no one else was interested enough to bother... and i wonder why I had to start this thread ConfusedGrin

😂😂😂I'd have had to bring those as well.

I was doing so well! Though I'm an amateur compared to some of you, I'm down to one under sink cupboard.

Peridot1 · 23/07/2024 08:28

@listsandbudgets - what is the night serum? The only reason it might not be suitable for day time use could be if it has retinol in it I think.

@Cyclingmummy1 - I think they would have followed me too!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 23/07/2024 16:51

Absolutely yes to those wonderful minis from Penhaligon’s Rituals and Molton Brown.

No to the crap ones I am still trying to finish.

listsandbudgets · 25/07/2024 22:42

I've completely run out of sun screen so I went to buy some today!

I’ve been feeling blah for a couple of weeks (new medication) and my DD2 bought me the watermelon lip mask from Laneige to cheer me up. That young woman is a keeper! (It’s very nice - which is a relief, as it could have gone either way.)

OchonAgusOchonOh · 28/07/2024 11:25

That's lovely @Fraaahnces . It just shows what a great job you've done rearing her.

I hope you're feeling better on the meds soon. It's horrible when the cure is nasty.

Fraaahnces · 28/07/2024 13:22

@OchonAgusOchonOh Thanks for your lovely message. My DD2 has always been a special one. They’re all lovely, but she has the highest EQ of anyone I’ve ever met. Such an amazing, innate skill. I hadn’t even discussed the lip mask. She just knew I’d love it. I have noticed a huge deterioration in the last few weeks/months and am seeing the surgeons in a couple of weeks. Hopefully a better plan will be put in place. Am getting over myself, if I am honest.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 28/07/2024 15:07

Fingers crossed for you @Fraaahnces

listsandbudgets · 10/08/2024 22:11

Oh I'm so so bored of this now but somehow keeping it up. I really don't think I'm going to manage beyond the end of this month - however I am going to break it before that to buy the Liberty AC while I can still get it for £20 less on pre order (beauty drop subscriber offer) but otherwise force myself through to the end of this month.

@Fraaahnces How are you doing now? Flowers

OP posts:
Minnie123456 · 11/08/2024 00:24

@listsandbudgets I broke my ban as well by ordering the liberty AC as well. It "only cost " me £4 as I had a lot of credit and then the £20 off so surely that doesn't count lol

I did also buy a night cream as I had run out, it came with a day cream so I won't need that for a while.

isthismylifenow · 11/08/2024 08:17

It's been a while since I was on the thread. I hope everyone is doing good and not feeling too guilty for adding an item here and there.
@Fraaahnces
@Fraaahnces
I think you must be a southern hemisphere dweller too as I am also really battling with the dryness. So much so I have resorted to Nivea Creme every single night as a night cream. My usual Avene just isn't hacking it at all. And my lips are constantly dry and flaking too. We get the Vaseline for lips in the little metal tub, which is cheap enough, it's just a pain to use on the go. Even Blistex isn't cutting it. I counted, I have 6 lip balm sticks in my car alone 🙈. I even bought a humidifier this year.

As for my stash. Unfortunately/fortunately I managed to find a bunch of mark downs on the regular things I use (moisturizer/cleanser etc) so they came home with me.
But I have made an okay dent but two things that don't seem to be budging, body lotion and that bar of soap in my bathroom. It's still there, a bit smaller but still going! 😂. My dd asked why I just didn't throw it out and start a new one. She doesn't get it I don't think. I need to see it through to its end.

But I think I am going to have to go through the stash and just be brutal now. I need to make space, gulp. Why you ask? In a few months we are off to a beauty event, it's quite the event and you walk out of there with sample and full size items of so many products. Like bags full. So I need to prepare a space for all of that. And DD is coming along with me, so I need to make space for her haul as well. As just like @listsandbudgets she had a stash at her away from home home, and her real home. 😃

So I think the body lotions are going to have to go. A brand here makes the in shower cream that Nivea used to do, it's such great stuff and I forgot how much I liked it. So I am just going to keep one or two normal ones and keep using this one.

I also managed to pick up a sunscreen I hadn't tried before. The Avene Sunsimed. I like to try things if I find a deal on them, then if they don't work for me I don't feel too bad about it. I usually dislike Avene sunscreens as they leave such a terrible white cast, or the tinted ones are just too dark, I am very pale so look orange if I use it. (I did try to mix it with day cream but that orange doesn't budge). But this Sunsimed is in a class of it's own. It's not the cheapest out there, so next time around I think it's worth paying full price for. So the Bioderma waiting for their turn, goes back into the cupboard for now.

Peridot1 · 11/08/2024 09:34

@Fraaahnces - sorry to hear you are feeling worse. Hope they manage to sort you out.

@listsandbudgets - sunscreen doesn’t count as it’s a necessity so don’t feel bad about that!

I am trying to decide about the Liberty advent calendar. I cancelled my BD so it’s full price for me but I have £259 in credit so it will only cost me £1. But I have so much stuff. And there are a few things in it I’m not keen on. Decisions decisions! I will be in Liberty in a couple of weeks and if nothing catches my eye and tempts me to spend my credit I might order the AC. Or keep the credit for things I actually need and want. Once my stash runs down obviously. IF my stash ever runs down that is.

Fraaahnces · 11/08/2024 14:28

Hi @isthismylifenow I’m in Brisbane. I have discovered the Cerave Healing Balm. (Vaseline with Ceramides). I am smearing it liberally over my regular moisturiser - (slugging, I guess). Very sexy, not.
Thanks for your thoughts @Peridot1. Appt with surgeons on Tues so maybe things are shuffling along finally. (A crystal ball would be great)
