I can't do this alone folks. I've got TOO MUCH STUFF... I also have 2 beauty advent calendars

So I've set myself a challenge. Between now and June the 1st 2024 I will not buy any beauty products UNLESS I've run out of all of that particular type. If I've got a tiny sample bottle of shampoo or conditioner I'll use it all up. All those half used bottles of moisturiser, night cream, shower gel and toner and body lotion MUST GO... the mountain of soap must be surmounted.

My only concession is that I will not cancel the Liberty Beauty drop will get a couple of boxes to cheer me up

So if you want to join me make up your own rules and lets cull that stash

And well done for holding strong, Minnie!

I have two empties… Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Toner. Lovely, soothing, hydrating. I have been very liberally splashing it down to my chest as it’s so cooling. I love it under the TirTir Milky Toner as it adds an extra layer of hydration. Probably should have put it in a spray bottle tbh.
The other is the newest Beauty of Joseon sunscreen (blue & white tube) Probably my second favourite ever. (Numbuzin winning)

Fraaahnces · 07/03/2025 01:01

I forgot another empty… It was my fave Fenty Beauty Body Sauce. I don’t use it on my body. Just my face instead of foundation. (It’s perfect for me, lasts all day and comes in a gigantic tube, so had enough product to last a nuclear winter.) Anyhow, it’s been discontinue. Devastated. I managed to buy two from the Fenty Beauty site for about half of what one used to cost here, so the postage was worth it. They arrived the day mine sputtered its last valuable drops into my paw. (That never, ever happens here - in fact, this was couriered from America in 1/4 of the time it took Australia Post to deliver the perfume my kids bought me for Xmas from Sephora in the same bloody city. It was trekking up and down the East Coast of Australia like a drunken backpacker. 118 tracking notices before they got it to me.)

Edited

My gosh @Fraaahnces that’s a long tracking.

what perfume did you get?

Honestly a woman’s shelter would benefit from such a lot of this stuff, it’s such a waste.

I mean I’m in the same position myself - currently wading through tubes of moisturiser and have a 2021 beauty box I never even opened. Actually I might just bung it all in a basket and give to my sister.

I have had a few empties recently but didn’t make too much note or take photos as I was travelling.

I was in Australia and New Zealand for five weeks. Had a lovely time shopping my stash before I left for things to take. I definitely took way too much. Took things I never used. But I got through a few things. Full size Farmacy cleansing balm, full size Kate Somerville PeptideK8 moisturiser. Some travel sizes of things.

I bought a couple of things. A Mecca sunscreen as I know it doesn’t sting my eyes and a Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella. I had taken a Thank You Farmer one but it stings my eyes. Also bought a face oil and an oil cleanser in New Zealand. The oil was to replace one a friend had bought me that I really liked and I was almost out of my cleansing balm so I bought the cleansing oil in the same brand. It’s called The Facialist and I haven’t seen it anywhere else.

I have resisted the latest Caroline Hirons kit which I normally succumb to but I definitely don’t need anything.

I am definitely done now until end of the year.

Fraaahnces · 13/03/2025 22:46

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I bought a Guerlain Aqua Allegoria in Herba Fresca. (It was 60% off) I have worn this on and off since it came out in 1999. (I love their Orange Soleia & Mandarine Basilic also.) I want to add that the issue with postage was not Sephora’s fault, but all Australia Post who are IN-SANE!

greengreengrass25 · 15/03/2025 12:08

I’m doing quite well using up stuff but did succumb to the M&S well-being box and the Lancome free gift at Boots with points which is lovely. I do use up my products and find the Boots recycling scheme useful

Still here and still resisting. It’s hard though

dayslikethese1 · 18/03/2025 07:37

Haven't posted in a while. Resisted buying in the categories I have multiples in. I really want to get down to bare bones collection by end of year so I can start again next year now that I know what products I like and that work for me. I've realised there's whole categories I could live without entirely, for me it's eye cream, setting sprays, highlighter, lipstick, foundation, exfoliating type serums and most hair products. I read that you can make your own primer by basically mixing aloe vera with moisturiser so I might try that as AV is a very useful thing to have about anyway for sore skin/sunburn etc. I like things that are multifunctional (chamomile and vaseline also great). Still got a huge stash of conditioner as DP has short hair now so it's just me using it and I have greasy hair so barely use any but I've also been using it to shave my legs with.

wheresmyshoe · 18/03/2025 10:12

I’ve cracked and bought a cult beauty perfume edit but apart from that… nothing.
@FraaahncesI love mandarine basilic, if I see it at a good price I’ll get it again. I’ve just discovered flora nymphea hiding in my collection, it isn’t one I’d have bought over MB so no idea how it came to me!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 18/03/2025 11:08

I didn't buy the Boots K-Beauty edit and it's now sold out. I'm kind of sorry I didn't as it was great value.

moimichme · 20/03/2025 19:36

I haven't bought anything yet this year either, despite some small temptations. Prioritising a boring debt payoff just now is keeping me on the straight and narrow! Maybe DH will get me a beauty treat next weekend, but honestly I don't need anything right now. Holding firm. 😇

Minnie123456 · 22/03/2025 18:20

I caved and bought the Mumsnet Latest in Beauty box. I did resist the Boots £10 Tuesday offers this week even though they had some good things.
