Can anyone give me a quick idiots guide? I’m sure it is very simple but I don’t understand how I post if I don’t have their address? No working printer here - help!

Just trying to lighten the mood of the thread a tad, as a small handful of people were getting very annoyed and I do not want a thread going down the pan when the majority of people have been exceptionally kind.

I have noticed I have children. Thank you for reminding me of this fact.

Seeing as you seem particularly concerned about the code- You don’t need the address- the code has the detail in it to print off a label which has all the information already on it. It’s like magic! You get a sticky label already printed up (saves having to write it all out and that’s such a faff!) Postage is already paid for. You just stick on the sticker, throw it at the shop keeper and leg it out. It’s one of those things you’ve only got to do once and it soon becomes super easy- I promise! I’m a really technophobe and even I can manage it!

MinnieL · 04/11/2023 22:29

Have you made it to the parcel shop or not OP

Tequilamockinbird · 04/11/2023 22:58

It really is very easy. Much easier than writing an address out and going to the post office.

Take your phone and the parcel to your local Evri shop and they'll either show you how to print the label, or print it for you. That's it. you're making this far, far more complicated than it actually is.

MrsElsa · 04/11/2023 23:15

I have been thinking about selling on Vinted and what has stopped me is exactly what you are describing - how does the postage work?!!! But seeing that you are so confused by it makes me feel better about myself!

Shop is busy but they make money from the parcels so will help you. Just say "sorry I'm not sure what to do, can you help me?" And smile! Show them your phone and they will be able to guide you through it. I have done this for a parcel collection in shop before and it was fine, a bit of an eye roll from the staff but they did help me.

Good luck!!

FrangipaniBlue · 04/11/2023 23:23

@MrsElsa the buyer pays the postage and you receive the label (in the form if a QR code) in your inbox.

You show the QR to the shop, they print the label and you hand them your parcel.

It really is that simple.

AproposofEverything · 05/11/2023 01:18

Presumably if you were able to handle setting up a Vinted account, creating a listing, and posting it, then this bit should be easy. Package it and show the barcode to the shop assistant.

Mojodojocasahaus · 05/11/2023 01:27

Honestly op why would you subject yourself to this stress over a feŵ quid. Either work out how a QR code works or charity shop

LittlePudding1 · 05/11/2023 01:36

Maybe just read the how to use Vinted section on Vinted Confused

I’ve got the code thanks.

My issues are

getting to the shop
what the hell to do with this stupid code and why the hell do I need a code I just need an address I can write sorry rant Grin
and what to put the item in

I know - being daft.

Put the item in a bubble envelope . Assuming it's a piece of clothing? If it's something else (book, toy, etc) a small box will be fine.

Take your phone and the packaged item to the shop.

Show the shop person the code on your phone. Ask for their help printing the label.

Stick the label on the bubble envelope.

Put the envelope wherever the shop person tells you to put it.
..........

The labels are printed because people often get names, numbers, street spellings, and postal codes wrong when transcribing them. Then packages go astray and there are disputes between buyers and sellers.

mathanxiety · 05/11/2023 02:11

Basically, the code releases the address to the printer.

Think of it as a code that unlocks a safe.
Or a key.

ClockHolly · 05/11/2023 07:02

@Summermeadowflowers - have you changed your mind and don’t want to let the item go after all? If so, cancel the sale, apologise to the buyer and accept the feedback.

Each time someone helps with your problem you’re finding a new one (eg I don’t know how to post it. Oh but I don’t have anything to wrap it in. Ah well I can’t get to the shop anyway) so there must be something more to it. If you’ve accidentally listed something of high sentimental value you can cancel and apologise then the buyer will get a refund.

If I’m barking up the wrong tree and you do decide to give it a go, a lot of these shops are open on Sundays and may be quieter.

Good luck!

liveforsummer · 05/11/2023 07:16

You don't need to understand the code. Simply take it to the shop and show it to the shop keeper - that is all. It prints the prepaid postage label complete with the address - shop deals with that bit then you pop it on parcel and leave it there. Lockers are for if you've been able to print it yourself so ignore that

liveforsummer · 05/11/2023 07:19

Oh and wrap it in anything (although you said earlier you already had it packaged?) A jiffy or post bag, brown paper, a bit of bin bag. Dd10 who set up her own Vinted account and did everything herself bar drive it to the parcel shop used an inside out Asda carrier bag to pack her items

Beachlovingirl · 05/11/2023 08:56

You need to go into your settings and toggle off all of the postage options you don’t want to offer.

I only offer Royal Mail second class because I know exactly what I’m doing with that and the buyers are usually very happy when they get their item next day or within 2 days of postage.

if you don’t want to do the parcel shop thing just don’t do it.

when I first started using vinted I hadn’t toggled off my settings and ended up in the same situation as you. I cancelled the sales and re listed with my new settings - Royal Mail only.

good luck and don’t worry - vinted is a great way of having a clear out!

another tip is don’t bother buying expensive postal bags. Instead get bags for life and wrap your items in those - 30p instead of £2.99!

Labtastic · 06/11/2023 15:39

@Summermeadowflowers so...did you manage to get it posted??

Just bulk buy some bags on Amazon. The last lot I got were 7p each. I wouldn't waste a bag for life

NeedANewPhone1 · 06/11/2023 17:59

I've received things in bags for life and been chuffed with the free bag 😁 The tape peels off them pretty easily!
