Can anyone give me a quick idiots guide? I’m sure it is very simple but I don’t understand how I post if I don’t have their address? No working printer here - help!

Keep going! My mum, 75, managed the lockers a couple of months ago. She was convinced it wouldn't work, but it did.

PuppyMonkey · 04/11/2023 13:11

OP just take the parcel and the code to the local shop and wait in line and ask them? What’s the worst that can happen?

Using vinted is easy but now that yodel don't do print at home labels it's a bit of a ball ache. If I have a few parcels the shopkeeper prints out the labels all at once (he won't do individually) so I then have to be really sure that I'm putting the right label on the correct parcel. Much more faff.

I like the fact that you can opt out of certain postage methods though. I don't use Yodel because it would take ages to get to the drop off point and probably cost me more in fuel!

I think vinted can be complicated when you first start but once you get your head around it it's the easiest way to upload and sell stuff. I'm glad I persevered as I felt a lot like the op to begin with and put loads of decent stuff in a charity bag because I couldn't be bothered with the faff. I kick myself now!

So it’s Evri home delivery. It’s my local store but it’s what to do with the code once I’m in the store.

The staff in the shop will do it for you if it’s Evri! Just tell them you haven’t sent a parcel that way before. They scan your code from your phone and it prints a sticker off. They put the sticker on your parcel, take it off you and voilà! You’ll get a notification that your parcel has been dropped off. And that’s it!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/11/2023 13:35

You don't need the email you just open the thread on vinted where the person bought your item

There should be a bit that says the buyer bought you a label and you click to open it. I then download the label.

Go in to the shop, there is a scanner on a shelf, you scan the QR code, it prints out the label, take it to the till and the cashier will give you a ticket as proof you've sent it.

SoupDragon · 04/11/2023 13:46

You can do this.

you've just built it up into such a ridiculously big insurmountable thing in your head that you can't see past it. It will be fine.

hopeishere · 04/11/2023 14:09

It's can seem like a faff at the start. I'd not realised about the postage options like the OP I though it would be Royal Mail. So I was driving f all over dropping parcels off! Now I just so Evri which is local and Royal Mail.

@KingsleyBorder ive been through and pressed the thanks button so much I have carpal tunnel syndrome.

The GP isn’t open. And I don’t have anxiety. I’m just thick.

Obviously I wasn’t suggesting you see the GP today, sheesh.

And rather than clicking the thanks button go on Vinted and follow the instructions the posters have given you!

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 14:48

@KingsleyBorder people - not you - have been super helpful. I’m still not sure it’s helpful enough for this thicko but it is nonetheless a helpful thread. I think going to the GP and saying ‘I am stupid’ is likely to be met with ‘er yeah and -‘ but erm thanks I suppose.

You're not stupid op but you are building this small errand into a huge deal...

Viviennemary · 04/11/2023 14:57

It sounds horrendous. Why don't folk just use ebay. Thats very straightforward.

It's not horrendous. I've just started selling on vinted. It's incredibly easy and posting is easy too.

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 14:59

I’m not really @Comedycook . I know people have explained - I have to admit I still don’t fully understand the code and the locker but hopefully the people in the shop will know. I also don’t know what to pack it in. I still don’t really know why you can’t have an address - safety I suppose

When I've used evri there's no lockers. You take the parcel to the shop. You use the machine...which just means you press the button which says send parcel. You hold the phone with the qr code under it. The label prints off. Stick to parcel. Give to shopkeeper. They scan it. In my local shop they have a big crate/box and once they've scanned it tell you to put parcel in the crate/box. There's nothing else to understand

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 15:05

Thanks Comedy, which does assume I understood that but we’ll see. I think I may have to take the one star review which is a shame as it will stop me selling in the future when I’m hopefully feeling a bit less overwhelmed!

OP posts:
hopeishere · 04/11/2023 15:06

The lockers are for the person picking it up not you. I bulk buy packing envelopes from Amazon.

hopeishere · 04/11/2023 15:07

Have you opened the messages to get the code / digital label?

RunningFromInsanity · 04/11/2023 15:09

TAKE YOUR PARCEL AND YOUR PHONE TO THE SHOP

Go to the counter and say ‘I need to send this parcel’

Thats literally it. How do some people get though life.

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 15:10

I’ve got the code thanks.

My issues are

getting to the shop
what the hell to do with this stupid code and why the hell do I need a code I just need an address I can write sorry rant Grin
and what to put the item in

I know - being daft.

OP posts:
Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/11/2023 15:10

I did do a locker thing the first time before I realised I had to select my posting options as a seller.
It was annoying as the closest locker was the next town away. But again it was easy, source the lockers, there's a screen to scan your code, it opens a locker and you put it in and close. Job done.

I think the thing is, you're questioning too much.
When you get to the shop you will see it is very simple.
Trust the process.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/11/2023 15:11

What to put the item in?
Just pack it like normal on a box or bag...

Findyourneutralspace · 04/11/2023 15:11

You’ve talked yourself out of this because you are scared. Of what? Not being able to do it? So what? That’s when you cancel the order.
Looking stupid? Again, so what? Why does it matter if someone thinks you’re dim (and I guarantee they won’t, it’s their job to help!)

The buyer wants this item, otherwise they wouldn’t have bought it, so at least try and send it! What’s the worst that can happen? You end up having to cancel the order, but there is another possible (probable) outcome, which is that you figure it out, get a sense of accomplishment and open the door to another income stream for yourself.

Just give it a try!!

Comedycook · 04/11/2023 15:13

Ok so one step at a time...just go to the shop with the parcel. They have the machine...if you can't find it just ask where's the evri machine? Then look at the machine. There are two options usually to press. One says send a parcel... can't remember what the other says. Press send a parcel. It then asks if you have a qr code. If you've downloaded the label from the app then you have a qr code so press yes. You then scan the code. This prints out the label. Stick to parcel. Go to counter and hand them parcel. Shopkeeper will do their thing and then tell you where to put the parcel. They will hand you a receipt.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 04/11/2023 15:31

If this helps quell your anxiety a little
I buy lots from. Vinted and I have had parcels delivered in all sorts
Just pack in whatever you have to hand from a cut down box to a supermarket carrier, even a bin bag if you cut to size and seal well
Get yourself, parcel and phone to the Evri drop off point and ask for help at the counter

Goldwakeme · 04/11/2023 15:36

I don't know what more anyone can say. You could have been there and back already if you'd followed the step by step PP wrote out for you.
