Can anyone give me a quick idiots guide? I’m sure it is very simple but I don’t understand how I post if I don’t have their address? No working printer here - help!

I don't know what more anyone can say. You could have been there and back already if you'd followed the step by step PP wrote out for you.

Exactly. You can create a Vinted account and a Mumsnet account, have and raise children but you can’t follow 4 simple instructions.

Comedycook · 04/11/2023 15:39

Do you use the self checkout in the supermarket op? If you can do that, you can definitely use the parcel machine. They design them for ordinary people to use so make them user friendly.

DaisysChains · 04/11/2023 15:42

Could be like an ex, he loved winding ppl up by feigning ignorance to see how long their patience would last & as a creepy stalker he’d also be likewise obsessed with getting an address 🤣

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2023 15:47

If it's Evri, just go to the shop, say you're not really sure what to do and they'll sort it. On our local Evri drop off it's usually a nice teenage lad who takes care of it all in about 1 minute!

Canttouchthis88 · 04/11/2023 15:50

Surely this thread is a wind up?!

I’ve got the code thanks.

My issues are

getting to the shop
what the hell to do with this stupid code and why the hell do I need a code I just need an address I can write sorry rant Grin
and what to put the item in

I know - being daft.

Yeah, just on the wind up now I think.

Buy a packing bag. Or use a black bin bag / bubble wrap.

The shop will scan the code and it prints out a label with the address on it.

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 15:59

It’s been a long wind up then @Smurfmurf , as you’ll know if you use the search function.

  1. how far away is the shop and why do you have an issue getting there? If you planned to do this on the school run then why can’t you drop your oldest at school on Monday and go to the parcel shop on the way home with the baby? Or are you already on your last day to send the parcel?

  2. so many people have told you what to do with the code but for some reason you’re not listening. If it makes you feel better why don’t you go on google and type in ‘how do I use a QR code at the parcel shop.’ Or better yet, go on Evri’s page and they tell you what to do step by step. You don’t need the customers address for secruity reasons and because they’ve paid for postage.

  3. what is the item that you’re selling? I sold some size 8 trainers yesterday and put them in a package that cost £1.79 in the corner shop. I sold a dress that needed a smaller parcel that cost £1.

You have really turned this into a very big ordel when all you need to do is package the parcel in the same way that you would have done if you sent it via Royal Mail. Go to the shop with your QR code and say, ‘Hi can you help me send this parcel pls.’ And job bloody done. I mean this in the nicest way possible but do you struggle to speak with strangers? Is that what it is? You’d still have to speak with the person in the post office so what’s the issue doing it with Evri?

The parcel will be taken and delivered to a locker where the buyer can pick it up within a certain amount of days. When I’m unsure how a process works, I just go on Google to get some understanding. On Evri’s website you can literally see the person at the parcelshop helping the customer. What are you afriad of? You were trying to sell something for a reason so why throw the money away for absolutely no reason?

MinnieL · 04/11/2023 17:07

OP I’ve AS your name and I really think this is the tip of the iceberg and your reaction has nothing to do with a shoddy parcel. A pp’s suggestion of speaking with the GP is a very good idea.

This is coming from a mum who has two toddlers with a 11 month age gap, had PND TWICE and is still on antidepressants now. You sound tired, overwhelmed and somewhat irrational. I think that’s more than enough reason to speak with your GP. Having two young childre is hard. Again, feel free to PM me for any help. If you’re based in SW London, I’d happily meet you in public, take your bloody parcel to the parcelshop and meet you 2 minutes later with your bloody receipt!!

wited · 04/11/2023 17:14

I'm wondering if you're okay too OP.

When things are tricky for whatever reason I get overwhelmed very easily and basic things seem too much.

You mention a baby and if this resonates at all it might be worth a chat with your health visitor x

category12 · 04/11/2023 17:23

I didn't like it when I sold something on Vinted either - it was all very sudden and alarming.

I started getting loads of messages from people making offers.
Didn't like that, it was stressful!
I nearly withdrew the item and was just about to when it sold. 😂

Then I struggled figuring out what the posting process was like you have>

But I just stuck my item in a Royal Mail parcel bag and went to the shop.
Spoke to the assistant with a pleading look on my face and it was fine, dead easy. They knew what to do.

mrssausage23 · 04/11/2023 17:34

Op is clearly struggling and overwhelmed so the pisstaking comments or suggesting it's a wind up probably aren't helping. Even with a step by step guide, if someone has a lot going on then very basic things can feel too much.

Op if you can overcome this hurdle you'll feel better and more confident for next time. You can package the item in anything. I've used a Tesco bag for life before! Brown paper is another go to. Or you can buy a packing bag at most post offices. Make that your first step.

Then tomrorow pop to the shop and show them the code. All of the address details will come up when the code is scanned and then a sticky label will be printed to pop onto the parcel.

If you really feel like it's too much then don't send it. Forget about it. Your mental health is worth more. But you will get negative auto feedback from vinted for failing to complete the sale.

HerMammy · 04/11/2023 17:37

Go to the shop, the Evri machine is stand alone, you choose sending a parcel, scan your QR code and the machine prints a sticky label, put it on parcel, hand to shopkeeper and they'll give you a receipt, it's not difficult.

allhellcantstopusnow · 04/11/2023 17:51

Christ on a bike. Charity shop next time.

LegendsBeyond · 04/11/2023 17:58

I second the idea of seeing your GP. This isn’t anywhere near a normal or healthy reaction to having to post a parcel.

Ha - that’s the advice I got when I was in a stress over the NCT sale. I am not listening to anyone who claims something is ‘easy’ any more Smile

To be fair I’ve been having what feels like hourly emails from Vinted telling me my buyer is waiting. My buyer will have to bloody wait.

I really don’t need to see my GP because I’m an old fashioned sort who doesn’t get these codes and what not.

AproposofEverything · 04/11/2023 18:35

To answer the question about why you can’t just have the address, it’s because the label that will be printed out has the postage already included on it. It’s that easy. To be honest, you’ve done the difficult bit already, that was listing it. Now you just need to package it in whatever you have around and take it to the shop with your phone. The buyer really hasn’t done anything wrong. They’ve just bought the item that you listed.

You're overthinking the code thing. You don't really need to understand it. Like when you buy something in a shop, there's a barcode and either you or the cashier scans it. You're used to that right? You are given a qr code on your phone because you have chosen the digital label....you don't need to understand how it works specifically. When you go to the shop, like I said you go up to the evri machine, press send a parcel, press yes I have a qr code when it prompts you. Hold the code they sent you on your phone under the machine. The label prints off. I really don't understand in the nicest possible way what you don't understand about that.

AproposofEverything · 04/11/2023 18:43

And she doesn’t even need to do that, just ask the shop assistant.

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 18:45

@Comedycook i know I’m overthinking it and you (and others) have genuinely been helpful Flowers

NeedANewPhone1 · 04/11/2023 18:58

I hope you manage to send it - it really will be easy - but if you don't please dont worry about feedback. New sellers get one 'freebie' I believe - if this is your first sale then you might not get the automatic negative. Although of course the buyer will be disappointed.

But it really, truly is easy, so I hope you manage to send it.

Summermeadowflowers · 04/11/2023 19:03

Thanks. Kind messages like that mean a lot, they really do.

OP posts:
allhellcantstopusnow · 04/11/2023 22:12

In all seriousness, I would urge you to force yourself to understand things like this. Get to grips with managing the tech based side of things - you've got small children. By the time they're 10 they'll be running ring around you if you don't stay engaged with how processes change etc.

There's nothing quirky or endearing about "being an old fashioned sort who doesn't understand codes".
